This store have been a hit and a big miss the last 3 years I have be in Abilene. Fell in love with the Beeville store. Abilene not so much. Staff is always questionable. Like tonight if you need to wear a mask in a place you work with food then you should not be here. I have had problems in the past with management, we are a 2A family was caring concealed but because I choose to help bag my groceries my shirt let my gun kinda be viable and he flip out about it not a open carry store. Which if you were a properly staff store I wouldn't be bagging my food and you wouldn't have seen it ‍ for a second. Then tonight understaff again and rude everywhere. Hmmmm, my review is 12 years old. But my opinion is new! Still my favorite grocery store. But they are SO BUSY! This store is slammed every day of the week. The aisles are jammed with shoppers, and the curb side shoppers with their carts are becoming a real problem. Sometimes you just have to wait to get down an aisle. But the shelves are always stocked and I really like a lot of their store brands. HEB is a great example of a Texas grocery store. There has been talk of another store on the south side of town, but so far it's just talk. Get to work! Oh, don't forget sushi Wednesday. Lots of $7 rolls, which is a good deal. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a new H-E-B fan, but... Maybe it was because I went to this Abilene, Texas location on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (2023). Maybe I didn't like the hustle and bustle of hoards of folks at merely 2PM. Maybe I thought the employees could have been friendlier & more assistive. Maybe the store could have been tidier. The store was mostly organized and clean, but it could have been better. I know I'm probably harsh due to the turkey day frenzy, but I saw lots of employees to say the least. Their H-E-B line of goods was interesting. All of them are placed in the middle of each aisle. They have some of the same if not better products than the big brands at a lower cost. They had special items - tons of them - for sale. My purchase... + HEB three cheese and shells mac n cheese ($.88) + HEB mac and cheese ($.88) + HEB easy melt shells & cheese ($2.28) + HEB natural crunchy peanut butter ($2.38) + 14-oz cranberry & thyme hand soap ($1.49) + Cowboy Santa ornament ($5) Overall, I have a feeling there are better H-E-B stores in Texas. read more

Not worth one star. Order groceries via HEB app and reserved a time between 9:00 and 9:30 PM. I was even charged extra to reserve the time. When I arrived within the reserved time I used the HEB app to check-in. The message I received back was someone would be out shortly with my groceries. After 40 minutes I finally gave up. After being passed off to other employees who could only say that pickup was closed, I was finally handed to a night manager. Not only could he not answer my question why the app allowed me to select a time after pickup closes and why I was charged extra for this, he then stated I would have to return the next day at 7:00 for any help. This is a manager that knows nothing about customer service. I worked as a front lead at Sam's Club and our policy is to help the member anyway we can including going into pickup and looking for the member's basket. Seriously dropped the ball on providing any customer service. read more

What can I say - it's H-E-B and it's always a great experience for me. This one was pretty good sized. The only thing a bit odd for me was there was no dedicated butcher department. The did have a fresh seafood counter though. That said, the did have a LOT of meat in wall and floor cases. The produce area was very large. The bakery - while not the largest I've seen for H-E-B was decent sized and the bakery staff were helpful to me. They had a soup bar which I used - I took a bowl of soup to go for lunch. I easily found all that I needed. Thank you H-E-B for a clean, well stocked market. Makes me love having moved here to Texas even more :) read more

HEB truck drove through my fence on Nov 17 2023. The driver tried to leave the property without contacting me the land owner. I had cattle in this pasture close to the road. This Jan12, 24 and they have not and have not paid me anyting for damages. I had to repair the fence so the cattle did not get out on a very busy hiway and kill someone. HEB really cares about livestock and those who make a leaving off of them. read more

When I moved to Texas, everybody hyped up this store. This is the second time I've been to the store and I am so overwhelmed with how busy it is. I can't even shop comfortably. So many street side shopper employees multiple on isles. Pallets on the floor, huge families, huge baskets that take up so much space. Everybody's in a rush. I can't even read labels. It's so chaotic in there. I left within 10 minutes because this is not how grocery shopping should be. We're in there like sardines. read more

Great prices, best in town. HEB even beats Wal-Mart on prices many times. This store is not nearly as nice as the Market Street store in my neighborhood, but the prices beat MS to hell. Not even close. MS is in fact often absurdly expensive. The biggest downside of this store is that it's too busy. Always. Abilene has a shit ton of retired folks on fixed incomes and they come here. Avoid on the first couple days of the month unless you want to fight crowds. Abilene is a segregated city. All the Mexicans come here. They're fiercely loyal to HEB. I don't blame them. I wish Abilene would build another store here on the North Side so as to relieve some crowding issues here. This location can be a bit tricky to get in and out of sometimes, traffic wise. Hanging a left on Barrow on my motorcycle is always exciting. LOL read more

Beware! Hidden 30.05 signs. Because the new law does not require it they are using black lettering that cannot be seen fron the outside as one enters. (It is deliberate, the old 30.07 signs are still visible they know the new ones can't be seen) Don't let them trap you in a felony. The Abilene store really needs to step up their game. Layout of store is not convenient, can never find anyone to help you locate what you're looking for. The cashiers are usually distracted and the sackers never offer to carry your groceries out. The store feels dirty and crammed. I don't know why they don't open a Super H-E-B like the ones in the Austin area- much nicer, cleaner, better layout and much better selections in every Dept. This H-E-B is beyond ghetto. read more

First time here and I can say I was very happy walking in. We went on the weekend so I was pretty packed with ppl and not everyone was wearing a mask. I think the service is pretty poor. I went to return items I purchased online and the curbside manager told me I couldn't return items if I used a coupon to only be told that isn't true by a store manager. Also bakery workers have some attitude. Lady gave me cake and was upset I asked if they can put a name for daughter. read more

HEB is a good store, but I have found that many prices are higher than United, Cash Saver, and definitely higher than Walmart. They have a good selection of foods, usually packed, parking is a pain because of all of the crosswalks and flow of customers. They do have a parking lot security person but they are primarily there to make sure no one parks/stops at curb. I like the selection, just not the pricing. Occasionally eat at the deli, tasty but pricy as well. Consumables like soda, toiletries and perishables are the main items that are more expensive. They do have good but one get a bunch of thing free deals. read more

Shop here alot, just because it's so close, but really don't like shopping here. Where to start? Besides the constant out of stocks in there grocery isles sometimes items are missing for up to a week their departments are worse. The meat department seems to consistently half empty (especially the fresh beef). Is it a staffing issue that they can't keep the shelf stocked? Same thing in their produce department it is constantly wiped out and shopped over with leaving poor quality product on the counters. Also the department is always dirty especially the floors. Again is this a staffing issue? Bakery department is also constantly out of stock on items. Why? Then let's go to the check stands. Never and I mean never enough express check stands open. Hate having to stop in there for a few items and always end up behind two or three carts full of groceries or having to wait fifth in line in one of the few express lanes open. Also this store seems dirty. Starting from the outside merchandise throughout the entire store. Maybe it's just that the floors are disgusting, but it's shows all over the store. Thought when they started putting in new display cases in the store they were going to do a nice remodel, but was more of a patch job on the store. Overall a horrible store! read more

We do our main shopping here. Close by. We get our prescriptions here. And we can bank here. Also a lot of hard working wonderful people work here. HEB stands behind their products, and tries hard to please their customers with products they like and use regularly. Good management. David is awesome. Many are friendly enough to know who you are. Same with many of the employees. Deana, Kym, Ruby, Twila, Marlene and Pauline to name a few. My only complaint is less baggers! Why? There have been times I have had to help bag my own groceries and carry them out. (Sometimes that's a good thing.). And of course on days when my Fibromyalgia is flared up, or my back is in much pain! Not a good thing. I don't think the cashiers should have to bag because some don't bag well! Let them stick to running the cash register. This isn't the way to cut costs. But I enjoy shopping at my local HEB over United or Walmart. The management here sucks. I bring my son in with me to buy groceries and got my self a six pack. They refused to sell me alcohol because they didn't feel comfortable with my son here. Only giving 5 stars because it's the best overall grocery store in Abilene. They carry a full spectrum of the common to hard to find. The prices are normally cheaper than anywhere and the meats and produce are fresher than even our high end most expensive grocery store. The biggest downside is it's usually hectic or very busy.
