WOW! H-E-B is the best for everything. A huge amount of produce that boggles the mind. they had 10+ varieties of apples and more greens than at a farmers market. there must have been at least 10 kinds of nuts and seeds. the cheese, yes,. the cheese. you could fill a swimming pool with all the cheese.. of course there were other things, a butcher, a florist, a deli, tons of cereals and chips. candy. alcohol and spirits. the list goes on and on. read more

I went to go pick up my mom's curbside delivery tonight and the experience was awesome! Shane did an excellent job making sure everything was there. They had to sub a coffee creamer that she wanted and he brought the 3 they had available for me to choose. Definitely didn't need to do that but he did. Shane was polite, courteous and on top of getting my groceries out in a timely manner. I've used other curbside pick ups in the area and he was the best I've encountered. In all this craziness we are going through I appreciate the small things. Kudos to H-E-B and Shane for the hard work you are doing! read more

Awesome store. By preference an organic vegan, I find abundant choices. Our ancient cat needs meat though and had snubbed our chicken liver offerings, so we had a problem. Kudos to Tavi, a warm, helpful deli department employee who knows meats, and in this case, liver for cats. He described the differences, recommended calf liver and preparation, and quickly located it for me. His knowledge and courtesy are outstanding. Also wonderful is Jim of custom orders, who provides a splendid service. Did you know you can order in bulk? Our cat litter has a small shelf footprint, and rather than drive to different stores to find it, we ordered 5 cases. Each bag is still only the shelf price. read more

I usually opt to go to this H-E-B because it's a larger facility but not as overwhelming as the H-E-B plus. However, I've been disappointed the last few visits because whenever I check out the cashiers and baggers are usually more interested in engaging in their own personal conversations rather than interacting with me and using customer service. Yesterday, was especially disappointing because the 2 girls were too busy discussing the cashier's coffee order from that morning. The moment that really shocked me is when the bagger took off her mask to drink the cashier's drink! Definitely not okay during a pandemic and definitely not a professional front. read more

I'm a chef at a near by restaurant and the staff is so helpful when I have a Grocery run. The cashier Jim found me in the wine section and helped me set the large amount of wine I was purchasing be place safely in my basket. Then he told me to come straight to his register when I was done shopping so that he could personally check me out. He was very nice and friendly and helpful. Also the lady in the wine area helped me a couple days before. I did not catch her name but she was very nice as well. I will continue to come to the store because of the great staff. read more

This HEB is a perfect size; not too small, but not so big that you're walking all over creation. There is a great selection of all kinds of products here. The inside and outside appearance is always nice. The Partners are very friendly and helpful. Love my HEB! read more

I had the most lovely experience today. I went to pick up groceries for my grandmother and it was the text and they bring it out thing. The lady who brought it out was so nice and took the social distancing thing very seriously which I appreciate. She went to the opposite side of my car so she wouldn't be right next to me, and when I was about to get out to help she said it was ok and asked where I would like them. I didn't have to get out of my car or get close to anything and she was so sweet. Someone get that gal a raise! She had long brown hair and was wearing a red hoodie. read more

HEB disappoints in more than one area. Let me start by pointing out some of HEBs good qualities: it is a very clean store. I cannot ever think of a time where I have visited an HEB and seen it in a disorganized or messy way. They do know how to keep a clean store, even with how busy they always are. They also have many different brands and products to chose from. I always see something I have never seen before (that is if the store isn't insanely busy and I have a chance to look). I think both qualities mentioned above are the only two good qualities, unfortunately. HEB could take some GREAT pointers from United Supermarkets in west Texas. HEBs layout does not make any sense whatsoever. Why would you put the freezer section at the front of the store?! And the produce section is a nightmare. Second, United's customer service is impeccable. There is always somebody there to help you if you cannot find what you are looking for. Not only does United very carefully sack your groceries, they also carry them out for you. This alleviates any stray baskets in the parking lot. HEB, on the other hand, makes you unload your groceries onto the belt and makes you take your groceries to your car yourself. The only time I have ever seen them offer is when a lady is by herself and has children. HEBs meat and seafood selection is par at best. I would compare it to Walmart's selection. And am I the only one who thinks HEB could benefit from a coffee bar? Who puts a nail salon in a grocery store?! I could go on and on about ways HEB could improve. Just know that HEB will never be as good as United. read more

Apparently they let their seafood go well beyond spoiled before they dump it into the ventilation system. I walked in and didn't get past the produce section before I was wheezing and itching. I had to flee for my life. I don't even have a problem with asian markets and their suspect seafood sections. But this place smells like a bait bucket that was forgotten in the garage for a month of Sundays. They need to pay more attention to sanitation and ventilation. To me this building is toxic. A huge disappointment, as I grew up on HEBs and was hoping to enjoy this shopping trip. read more

As good as it gets, I come to this HEB for all my party and gourmet needs. This store has plenty of the upscale items normally found only at the Central Market such as lobster, international foods, and fancy artisan breads. read more

I wish we had an H-E-B where we live! We were staying at the Worldmark New Braunfels (timeshare) and needed to buy our fixin's for making breakfast. We were not disappointed. This place is HUGE! On a whim, I bought a lemon meringue pie and it was truly one of the BEST pies I've ever had. I'm a baker, and the crust was tender and perfect. The filling was just like homemade and the meringue was piled high and perfect. Prices are really good, too. We even got our bug spray there, some toiletries and a great selection of beer. Oh, and I make pancakes from scratch. This time, I bought the H-E-B brand buttermilk pancake mix-- which was really good! read more

As far as being the only grocery store besides Walmart(no) it's pretty good. Not crazy about the layout but overall it's clean and convenient. Try my best not to go on the weekends because it's a bit busy- but not their fault! Pricing is competitive! read more

This HEB has a great variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, good deli and bakery. Good selection of canned and frozen goods. Detracting from my rating of this store is the parking lot. It's a nightmare - always crowded and not enough parking. In the store the aisles are too narrow. If someone stops their cart in an aisle you are stuck behind them until they move. It usually takes a while in the check out lines because the store is so busy. read more

Being an old heb employee, it's hard to write a bad review but I had to. So going shopping with the hubby and kiddo just to get a few things for taco night. We see this great pizza night deal..... 2 frozen pizzas, Dr Pepper, salad and we go! It was all right there in the end cap all together. Sweet right? Nope!!!! We get to the register to be told the soda and salad are incorrect so we won't get the deal. I explained that it was all together, in an end cap, ALL TOGETHER! So the cashier rolls her eyes and says we can run all over the store to get your salad, I told her no we didn't want to wait and just to take it off the ticket. Again rolling her eyes and the huffing of the bagger they took it all out. The manager then came over to override the deductions (which is totally normal). But I again had to explain to him, twice, that the store had set up the entire end cap wrong and we took what was available. Never did he offered a solution..... what the heck? For the first time ever, I am super disappointed in an HEB. read more

I really like this heb! Everyone is so friendly and helpful! Although sometimes there are not enough baggers, it doesn't hurt to bag your own groceries! In my recent trip the lady in front of me had a 200 dollar order and just watched the cashier bag it all for her! How is it that I load up my groceries while the cashier and bagger both get to watch the new Star Wars movie playing behind me? I actually don't mind bagging my groceries and going through self checkout (this location doesn't have it). My complaint is customer service and the lack of it. What happened to "Did you find everything you were looking for?, any coupons?, stamps/ice?, or do you need any help out with your groceries?" I now see why so many locals drive to the HEB in San Marcos. I certainly hope the new HEB Plus is better. Less than impressed with this location. read more

Don't buy seafood here if you care about not getting sick. We bought 2 bags of unshucked oysters here two days ago, went home and immediately shucked them to eat. Fourteen out of eighteen of the oysters were bad - dry and old looking. We threw them all away in fear of getting sick from them. I eat a lot of oysters and know what fresh healthy ones should look like. I called HEB the next day because I thought the seafood department should be alerted that they were selling bad oysters. The person in the seafood department I spoke with just told me that he knew they were fresh as they had just gotten them in the previous morning. When the store received them and when they were harvested are two different time entities. Also no one in the store has any idea what this seafood product looks like unless they are shucking them themselves, which they are not. They therefore have only the consumer to rely upon to know the oysters' condition and fitness for consumption. He did not seem to care. So today, I physically went to HEB to get a refund and to talk with someone, thinking they would be concerned for their customer's well-being and health. Bad, raw seafood can harbor serious, even fatal pathogens that cause disease. I tried to speak with a manager, the seafood manager, the customer representative about my experience and concern and knowledge of their product to no avail. No one seemed to care and as I was waiting (in vain) to speak with the seafood department I noticed that they were still selling the same oysters from the same supplier as the ones we had bought two days ago that were inedible. read more
