It's a bit of a drive but my wife enjoys this HEB out of all of them. Produce is usually good and has certain things the others do not. Unfortunately the produce is almost always getting bruised by a rushed bagger and in a couple of cases bagged with raw chicken. I would really appreciate the improvement of bagging. I just got to say this store has everything on point.!!! Wow. Fully stock, set limit so that greedy people dont go over board. They have people directing the lines to the register. This is such a hard one for me. I love the store. It is nicely done; the staff seems responsive and friendly; and the store is convenient for those north of 1604 in the Culebra/Alamo Parkway area. However, there are issues. 1. I gave the store 6 weeks to see how my grocery bill compared to the Culebra HEB and the Neighborhood Walmart at 1506. The reality is that I was spending over $100 more a week at this store. Maybe it's all the variety, but I can also pinpoint some rudimentary items for my family that had a much higher base price. Therefore, I did not return this week. 2. The sushi area is quite nice. And the employees that run it are awesome -- my daughter will only eat kappa maki and they have specially made it for her every time we've asked. We truly appreciate that. 3. Ok -- this is minor, but the large carts in this store drive me nuts. I feel like a kid playing Mommy. I'm not kidding -- I'm 5'4" and the freaking cart comes up to my baby feeders. Seriously. And we are a family of 6, so I need that big cart! :) All in all -- I want this to be my store, but, for now, I probably will go sporadically to check on prices and see if they better compare to other stores in the area. read more

Over all the newest HEB in San Antonio is a welcome relief to the congestion that was overwhelming the culebra location. However given how fast the population is growing on this side of town I do not understand why they didn't take the time to make it an HEB Plus. The selections are the same as other HEBS more or less. The Asian aisle is practically nonexistent. They also do not have a bar b q area or Flaming Bird. They do however have a create your own Poke bowl area. So it's a nice addition to the already crowded area. read more

Just a shout out to Bill in the beer dept. today. I needed to buy 2 12-packs of Heineken in cans for my husband's hunting trip. Bill went out of his way to check in the back, and finding no cans consulted with the vendor who will reserve 2 12-packs on Wednesday for my husband to pick up. What service! On another occasion a couple of weeks ago, I was struggling to use a digital coupon in the self-check out line. The young man working the area helped me download the HEB app (I didn't know how) and gave me the coupon price. He was so helpful! I told the manager the same day but I forgot what his name was otherwise I would mention him here, too. You just don't get outstanding service like this. I also really appreciate shopping carts that work great and always having enough checkers. HEB customer for life! read more

I'm new to this area and recently visited for the first time ever! (First HEB ever visited) This is by far 1000x better than ANY of the supermarkets I ever shopped at. Super clean, everyone that works here is very friendly (of people I've come across) and the selection is amazing! Love all the fresh fruits and veggies, and the oven ready meals and stuff is amazing! I like the convenience of this supermarket (I'm right down the road). And the prices are great (I'm comparing to the shopping in the Northeast which is a HUGE difference for me!!) Like another reviewer stated-they should've focused on making this an HEB Plus if this area is growing so fast and being developed so quickly-I visited the HEB Plus near Bandera and that 1 even surprised me even more with how enormous it is and all the other smaller eateries within. Overall I have nothing bad to say and this will be my local supermarket of choice. read more

Today while I was at H-E-B with my family a vulgar argument broke out at the end of the spice aisle (yes, I'm aware how ridiculousness that sounds). Thankfully there was a gentleman and his wife there to help break it up while H-E-B employees stood around watching. To top it off, H-E-B employees had each party rehashing the altercation right by the check out lines. WTH?! I understand that H-E-B cannot prevent these incidents, but your employees should be trained on how to handle it out of the main area so other shoppers don't have to listen to it while shopping with their children. read more

We really love this H-E-B. Location is great, close to the house and it has everything we need, want and more. Tons of organic and healthy items, great produce section, flower section is decent, beer and wine section is great, love the fresh seafood and meats, deli, bakery, natural living, etc. I mean what's not to love. Even better are the low prices for great quality items. I used to shop at Whole Foods, but not really anymore. I love all of the seasonal stuff too like farm fresh pumpkins and Christmas trees and gardening stuff during the spring and summer months. read more

Today was the worst shopping experience, ever! Instead of changing their store around late at night, like most stores do across the country, they do it on a Friday at 9:30am!! So inconvenient. This place is amazing! Super easy to get in and out of. Not as crowded as most HEBs. Employees do everything to help you. For example my mom saw a coupon and ask a employee about it because she couldn't find the item on the coupon. Turns out it was expired but the employee gave it too her since they forgot to put down the sign. Another example is as we were checking out another customer stole our bags and the employee that was bagging ran out after them after we found them missing. Both her and the cashier apologized even though they help get our bags back. The lines can be long but the cashiers are pretty fast at getting you through them. They will also talk with you and not ignore you like other places. read more

Went to buy groceries with my little sister and my three babies yesterday and by the time we were heading out to the car it was raining very hard so about half way to the car one of your employees, Alexis ran towards us with an umbrella! She was so sweet she even stood by the car to keep my two toddlers dry while I put my 2 month old in the car and then after everyone was buckled in the car she helped put our groceries in the car so I wouldn't have to say out in the rain long! Definitely glad I started going to this H-E-B instead of the one I used to go on Culebra! read more

This is our favorite HEB even if its 20+ min away from where we live. It's mostly highway travel so its ok with us and its just so worth it because its a smaller neighborhood store but it just seems to have EVERYTHING lol They have SUCH variety in this store its crazy, they even have a cooking stand which are usually in the big store. They have a sushi section, simple meals to go, fresh fish and meats, bakery and deli. And the healthy living section is pretty awesome for how small the location is. I love the surroundings, very homey with beautiful nature (although now they're about to ruin some of it with new construction, as if there's not enough shopping plazas...) but anyway, this is about HEB. Prices are always on point, employees are lovely and helpful, parking is great, store size is perfect, not humongous but not TOO small where it feels crowded. One of our go-to stops for everything; gas, groceries, makeup, bath, health, etc. Simply wonderful! read more

This review is specific to HEB curbside. HEB curbside is still in the 'crawl' phase. Our last few orders have been messed up which includes items that are either missing or damaged. We've previously ordered curbside through other grocery store chains and are now considering switching because HEB Alamo Ranch just can't get it right. Sure, we save time not having to shop but we also spend time double, triple checking our order because there always seems to be a problem. Also, during the last screw up, we received part of someone else's order and were missing a large part of our order. The store asked that I return the other items that were received in error, however, these were cold items. The HEB rep never asked if they were properly stored or refrigerated in the time that they were in our possession. I flat out asked the HEB rep if the items that I was missing were with someone else and whether they were refrigerated. I have a toddler so wouldn't want to, for example, pick up food items like baby yogurt that wasn't properly refrigerated and in someone's hot car. The HEB rep couldn't give me a straight answer on that. It really didn't leave me with a warm, fuzzy feeling at all. The store needs to establish a policy that all items that leave the store by mistake should not be returned to the original customer because they can't guarentee it hasn't been tampered with. Management really needs to do better at this location. read more

I have yet to have a negative experience at this location. Every time I come here, every employee is polite, helpful and happy. Makes all the difference when you are grocery shopping. Tonight specifically, I was over charged for an item at the register that should have been marked down but I didn't notice until I was walking out looking at my receipt, so I visited their service counter, Alex was great. He was polite and quick to help. He took care of the issue and sent me on my way. Once again, I am leaving my HEB more than satisfied. read more

Amazing service. Friendly and diligent. I asked one clerk to help me find a cart to put 12 cases of bottled water and within two minutes I had someone putting the cases in a cart, taking them to the cash register and putting them in my car. HEB on Potranco Rd,San Antonio,TX. We truly enjoy the prepared healthy meals HEB has. They are a blessing to a family with working parents. HEB allows our family an opportunity to eat healthy for a reasonable price! Food always fresh, timely curb side service makes grocery shopping convenient, and staff is friendly. Note, they only offer free curbside pickup during the week but not on the weekend. Doesn't bother us because we typically pick up groceries during the week. read more
