The team took a terrible event and showed respect, care and genuine professionalism to make it the best experience possible given the situation. Brian went beyond what was expected to ensure that our service and my husband was prepared as best possible for the viewing and final farewells. I hope that no one would need to use this service because it means you are losing a love one; however, if you need these services don't hesitate in coming to hM Patterson as they will give you, your lost one and anyone who needs to grieve a space that is clean, comfortable and caring to grieve and say farewell

I was scared, nervous, and... lost about how to do it all including providing a memorial befitting our young daughter. However, Brian and the team at H.M. Patterson & Son helped us all along the way making the experience simple. That's what you want--simple. This is already one of the hardest things my wife and I have ever had to do. But they made the process simple and easy. And they showed my wife and I and our baby girl the utmost care, attention, and respect. I was pleasantly surprised by how much care they took to honoring our girl. When it came to the memorial, they helped us so much make this whole experience not only bearable, but also helped really honor our baby in a way that she deserved. Brian and team, thank you. Thank you for everything you did for us--our family.

My son died unexpectedly Thursday and I spoke with the "funeral director" that evening and told him that he would be ready to be picked up after 12 pm Friday. The funeral home outsourced that and they Deere not able to pick him up. I asked them to call me Monday and let me know he had been picked up so we can plan the service and internment. Over the weekend I reiterated the hope that we would receive information as to when he might be ready so we could move forward. Monday morning I received an email saying he was scheduled to be picked up and they would notify me when they had him. I contacted them at 4 pm and called them at 4:45 and was told "I had you on my list of things to do before I went home." He then looked for the first time and confirmed that my son had indeed arrived at 2 pm. And now he could not give me a date when he would be ready because they needed to pull together documents for my signature before they can schedule anything. He could not even give me a timeframe Having to deal with such incompetence during our time of grief is sickening. So do yourself a favor and find a more professional funeral home during your time of need

We worked up an appetite walking the grounds of the Decatur Cemetery, using one of their printed…read moreguides to find the interesting residents here. We did notice four different errors in the guide, so there's that. The Decatur Cemetery is the oldest known publicly owned burial ground in metro Atlanta, believed to predate the city's 1823 incorporation. Rich and poor, free and slave, and yes, quite a few CSA soldiers laid to rest here. Most of the walkways are easily walkable but some are not. If you're mobility challenged, there is still quite a lot that is accessible. Military veterans, legislators, congressmen, authors and judges. Even one of the delegates to the Secession Convention. This is well worth your time to visit. Please be respectful as this is an active cemetery and there are people here encountering their own personal losses. You can drive your car in and park to the side of the road, considerately. I rode my bike through the paths which was peaceful. It's also a nice place to watch the sun set. There's a few geocaches here if you're into that. Obviously, there's super old historical graves as well. Anyway, if you like Oakland Cemetery, you should check the Decatur Cemetery out.

Not only with care, but deep respect and love for what we were going through. I wasn't prepared for how draining the process was, so it made it one less thing to worry about. I particularly want to mention our director, Jordan Scott. He walked me through each step with such patience and kindness. For instance, I wanted to see my father before the cremation and he had a viewing set up with all the items I wanted cremated with him placed gently around him. It was deeply touching and gave me comfort that all was being done as I had requested. He worked tirelessly to get our rather large obituary in the paper(s) before deadline, and sent rough drafts of our prayer cards so we were happy with the results. I was so grateful for his care. He was just so detail oriented and deeply kind. This is not an easy time, and when it comes, you want a place you feel safe, comfortable and guided. I would highly recommend this home for your loved ones.
