Another Five Star review for Dr. Glazener…read more My personal care physician referred me to him for cortisone-type injections in my neck vertabrae. I thought it unusual for the first appointment to be at Grossmont Hospital, but I showed up on time, registered with staff, showed ID, got a wristband, and sat in a waiting area for a few minutes. I was at first surprised then pleased that this appointment was not a "getting to know you" type, but was for the injection itself. Dr. Glazener reviewed my past history with Scripps (which I provided), asked me several pertinent questions, then agreed that I would benefit from the injection. Although Dr. Glazener seemed quite pleasant, the flouroscope technician did not. The injection was not a comfortable procedure frankly, but it didn't take more than a few minutes. In addition to being a very personable physician, Dr. Glazener is very skilled at this delicate procedure. About three days later I noticed a great deal of improvement in flexibility and a moderate reduction in pain. I reported this to Dr. Glazener who thought I would benefit further from a second injection. I agreed, and it will be done in about a week. I certainly recommend Dr. Glazener for this type of procedure. As a side note, I was not charged for parking in the hospital parking structure.

I called the office to get different tests ordered that the hospital said were alternatives, the front desk didn't even relay my message to the doctor and instead said they are unable to move forward in my care without these two tests that are impossible for me to receive. DO NOT GO HERE. I've been warned about him by other doctors, but I didn't listen. My mistake, now I'm going to have to wait months longer to receive care from another doctor.

I stated that I would prefer to see Dr. Hoenecke alone and she said she didnt know if it was possible because they pay them as well. She said she would mention it. 15 minutes later Dr. Hoenecke came to the door of the exam room. He stood at the door (not entering the room) and said. 'WE ARE A TEAM! IF YOU DON'T SEE HER... YOU DON'T SEE ME'. I was taken aback by his abrasivie, combative, uncaring statement. He never entered the room, never introduced himself, never tried to explain the situation. I immediately exited the room telling him he should make new patients aware of his strict policy. He told me if I didnt like it to call Administration, which I did. I came to this clinic with MRI-confirmed disc injuries, including annular fissures and mild canal narrowing at C5-C7, along with persistent cervical pain that had not responded to conservative care. I had completed physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, massage, and multiple rounds of medication. Early in my treatment, a cervical epidural steroid injection (CESI) was presented as a next step if symptoms continued. I followed through with everything recommended. When my symptoms persisted, I expressed that I was ready to move forward with the CESI and made it clear that cost would not be a barrier--I was willing to pay cash. Despite this, the CESI was then walked back with shifting justifications: first citing cost, then later saying the disc bulges were "too small," even though the imaging findings had been available for weeks and hadn't changed. There has been no new information medically--only a changing explanation that doesn't align with the original plan of care. As a patient, this experience has been frustrating. If the provider or clinic is simply uncomfortable with performing the procedure, that should be communicated clearly and early--not repositioned after the patient agrees to proceed. I'm seeking a second opinion elsewhere and hope this review encourages a more transparent and consistent approach for future patients.

My check in time took another 30 minutes. I headed to the lab and waited over 30 minutes before I had my blood drawn. The check in lady at the lab is also drawing labs. I am not even going to say anything about the attitude of the workers here...they all seem miserable and so unhappy. Palomar health is soo poorly managed. The sad part is that no one really cares to do anything to improve patient care. Thank God, I am changing my insurance at the end of this month as I would not send my worse enemy here to get healthcare. Palomar Health, you are losing your precious few patients you have left.
