Instead, I was met with something rare and genuine compassion. Ms. Magally U. at the front desk didn't just check me, she advocated for me. Without hesitation, she took it upon herself to ask Dr. Thomas Wang if I could be seen. She made me feel like I mattered in that moment, not like an inconvenience at the end of a long day. That kind of kindness cannot be taught--it comes from the heart. Roxy, the nurse, was already done for the day... yet she still stepped in, took my vitals, and cared for me with a smile and a calm, reassuring presence. She kept me informed every step of the way, never once making me feel like I was "just an add-on." That level of professionalism and grace speaks volumes about who she is. And then there's Dr. Wang--who didn't rush, didn't cut corners, and didn't treat me like a number. He took his time, explained everything thoroughly, and delivered the truth with both honesty and kindness (and yes... gently reminded me I'm not 18 anymore, lol). That balance of clinical excellence and human connection is what every patient hopes for. As a nurse, I pride myself on going above and beyond for my patients. But being on the receiving end of that same level of care? It hits different. It reminds you that healthcare, at its core, is still about people taking care of people. For the most part, our experiences have been positive. The staff is usually kind, patient, and very understanding, especially when it comes to my fear of getting my blood drawn. That said, I did have one unfortunate experience where the blood draw was very painful and left me severely bruised. The snap of the band hurt so badly that it brought me to tears. Thankfully, that seems to have been an isolated incident. Other visits have gone smoothly, and the care team has been gentle and attentive. I appreciate their ability to work well with the family, and I still feel confident bringing my family here for care.

I had taken one Benadryl Prescription Capsule the night before due to an Allergy I was healing from on my left arm. When I had woken up at 10:30 AM I slept in that day on Friday. My has 2 Mattresses on my bed because a former tenant (Travis) put another extra mattress on my bed for more comfort. This blanket I was using that night was wrapped around my waist. I unfortunately was too close to the edge on the left side of my bed. Then I tried to get up from my bed. I fell off the bed and I hit my Head really Hard on the tile floor. I couldn't get up because I injured the back of my head, my neck , and my lower back when I fell off my bed. My Apple IPhone XR was being charged on my dresser that was located on the opposite side of my bed. I was in excruciating pain and I laid down on the floor in my room from (10:30 AM to 12:30 PM ) for 2 long hours. I live with a Group of 3 people. Their names are Michelle, James and Sharon. All of these (3 people) have (severe Mental Health Conditions). I am the only person who lives there without a mental illness. No one could help me to get up and off from my bedroom floor. Everyone was in their separate bedrooms. After 2 hours later at 12:30 PM. I had the strength to roll over on my right side even though I was in excruciating discomfort. I used my knees and then I put both hands on top of my bed then I had to pull my body up so I could sit down on my bed. I could barely move . Then I was able to get my Apple IPhone XR . I sent a message to Michelle who I am her part time Caregiver 3 days a week working in the house. I told Michelle who was in her room. I tried sending Michelle a text message telling her that I fell off my bed and I hit my head very hard on the floor. I asked Michelle to come into my Room and to help me get up off the floor and out me in my bed. Michelle didn't respond back to my 2 text messages I sent yo GM her on my Apple IPhone XR. Michelle didn't respond back not help at all. At that time, I had to call the 911, Emergency Dispatch Services at 1 PM to send an Ambulance out to my house to transport me to Sharp Memorial Hospital. The AMR Ambulance arrived at my house within 15 minutes. I was still in my room laying down because I was in too much pain and I couldn't walk. Steve this veteran paramedic was very caring and very experienced with the situation with my Fall Incident. Eduardo was new abd training to become a paramedic Wyeth the assistance of a trainer Lauren. Steve said he is going to put a Neck Brace on my neck and he also got a backboard to use when Lauren and Eduardo brought the gurney into my room. Steve, Edwardo, and Lauren took the sheets off my bed with me lying down on them. The safest method for me and them was to transfer me to the gurney from my bed using my bed sheets. Then I was placed into the AMR Ambulance and then I asked to be transferred to Sharp Memorial Hospital on Friday, August 14, 2026 . I arrived at the Hospital at 1 PM. I got an available bed in the Emergency Room within 10 minutes if my arrival time at 1:10 PM. Nurse Megan set me up with a Heart Monitor Machine and my Blood Pressure was taken every 15 minutes. The nurses station was monitoring my Blood Pressure and also checking my Heartbeats to make sure I was okay . The tech. Evan came in and he gave me 3 Warm Blankets he put over me to keep me warm . Then Dr. Byron Buckley the Emergency Room physician examined my Head, Neck, and my lower back with his hands. Then he used his stethoscope to hear my heart rate and to check if my heart rate was on the normal level. Dr. Buckley told me he had ordered me to take a CAT SCAN without Contrast Dye on my Head, Neck, and my Spine. I was taken by Evan the tech. to the CAT SCAN Room to get prepared to take this CAT SCAN Test on my Head, Neck, and my Back. The results showed I don't have no fractures and I don't have any Broken Bones. Plus I didn't take my Blood Thinner on Thursday, August 13, 2026 all day. The Good News was I didn't receive No Bleeding in my Brain. But I did receive a lot of Bruising to the back of my Head. I also sprained my Neck and I injured my Lower Back. I have to use a cane to walk around outside. Dr. Byron Buckley said it's going to take me several weeks or longer to fully recover from my Head Trauma with my sprained Neck and bruised Back. Dr. Buckley has prescribed for me to take Tylenol @ 325 Milligrams 2 pills once every (4 to 6 Hours) for my pain relief. Dr. Byron Buckley and his Medical Team did a very thorough analysis on my Head Injury plus everyone was very helpful and caring to my serious medical condition.

Pop up to the second floor via the elevator, or stairs, and you have arrived. Due to a Christmas layoff, I lost my regular insurance back in December. Thankfully, I now have a temporary insurance that allows me to be seen at Hillcrest Family Health Center. Amen to that! I recommend making an early appointment, as this place can get quite busy as the day goes on. There is plenty of seating in the waiting room, but it's possible you could get an unfavorable seat, or not a seat at all. The young ladies at the check-in station have all been very nice, which is much appreciated. Also, there is hand sanitizer at the check-in station which is also "so fresh and so clean". Aside from the aforementioned, I've been really pleased with the ability to get an appointment with very short notice. Once I was able to make an appointment within 2 days, and another time I secured an appointment in about a week. Also, each time I've been seen, albeit early in the a.m., the appointments have been punctual. No waiting around leaving plenty of time to move on with my day. I also like that they have a lab that shares the lobby, making it a breeze to get your blood drawn after your appointment. I was able to knock out the appointment and the blood draw in no time. What I haven't been too fond of is the follow up on referrals. I was told that I would receive a follow up call about two referrals that were placed during my initial visit, but they never called. Thankfully, and more importantly, the referrals did get placed, so all I have to do is follow up with the referral locations. The other slight concern I had was that the NP that saw me during my initial visit, didn't really provide a very caring or investigative experience. What I mean is, it was more of a touch and go or check the boxes kind of interaction. To be fair though it was an initial visit and they are a traveling NP, so they sort of mentioned that I probably wouldn't see them again after the blood work. However, I did end up seeing them on my second visit, which was what I would call a more thorough and patient interaction, which I very much appreciated. Thank you for that. Thank you to everyone at HFHC!!! It's a tough job, in a tough economy, in a world full of madness, so I'm thankful for being able to have healthcare and get some relief. Dr. Squires did a fantastic job, and checked on my husband several times afterward. The, anesthesiologist and nurses met with my husband beforehand and explained everything. The nurses were so caring, responsive and personable. The food was so good that I would rather come here than most restaurants! Patients could order from a menu at any time of the day, and visitors were welcome at the cafeteria. It is a beautiful facility, with all private rooms, and lovely paintings throughout. I was furnished with a cot so I could rest while staying beside my husband, and spend the night. With most hospitals, it is worth your life to get a cot. Kind of like a spa getaway ...

I "saved a spot" on their website for 4:30pm on a Saturday. I was afraid I'd still be waiting hours…read morelike past experience of going to urgent care centers. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival that there was only one other person ahead of me. I was seen maybe 5 minutes after my appointment time and was in and out in less than 45 minutes. Parking was also easy with an hour validated parking in their garage. They also had a few patient dedicated spots. The nurse and PA that I saw were nice and listened to my symptoms and concerns. They were professional and provided good care. I would definitely return to this location if I needed same day care again.
