Dr Dean is AMAZING. The office staff has always been exceptional. This past visit I had a very unpleasant encounter with a desk associate. It escalated into shouting while other customers and office staff were present. it was clearly a case of show boating. Unfortunately for her, she chose to do that with someone who will not tolerate that behavior. Luckily Kathleen intervened and took over the rescheduling. It just so happens that Customer Service Management has been my career for almost 40 years. The young lady clearly needs to attend classes/webinars on how to effectively communicate with customers. She needs to understand that tone can alter an outcome quickly when emotions are elevated. She felt it was more important to justify her comments than to defuse the situation to salvage a loyal customer. On my rescheduled visit yesterday, the young lady felt it best to avoid me. Proper Customer Service would have been to approach me and apologize for the situation getting so out of control. Luckily Dr Dean did so IMMEDIATELY when he walked in the room. I can only pray that proper counseling was done to mentor her on how to handle situations like ours should they ever arise in the future. i am 100% confident it would have never gotten as far as it did if Kathy was there. :( read more

Dr. Dean, is absolutely the best optometrist that I have seen. He is patient, thorough, and very caring. I feel like my questions and concerns are always addressed completely. What really stands out is his staff. Patients are greeted with a smile and every attempt to make the vision visit enjoyable and productive In my opinion. Their experience really shines through when they help patients pick out a pair of glasses and what looks best and functions well for their lifestyle. I'm an older patient and I have never felt rushed and that is VERY important for me. Last but still very important is the options and availability for an acute appointment. What a wonderful experience. From the time i walked in until I left. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The nurse that took photos of my eyes was very professional and answered all my question. Dr Dean was also ver professional and pleasant. He took his time and didn't try to rush me out. Just showed how he wanted to make sure I was comfortable and wanted to make sure he didn't miss anything. I even made an appointment for my husband. Then even the lady that helped with picking out my glasses she sat and talked and helped me make the right decision. No one was in a rich to get you out. The people who work there are amazing after we had a bad experience with lens crafters. They we're able to squeeze us in even though they were busy. We had our appointments scheduled for later in the day and they called us within half an hour of us leaving saying that we could come in sooner since someone rescheduled their appointment. Staff is really kind and put up with our slightly pissed off attitudes and actually made us happier. (We weren't pissed off at them we were pissed off at lens crafters). These people care about their jobs and the people they are helping and are amazing I will definitely be coming back. read more

I visited H. Rubin Vision Center today for my annual exam. I was seen by Dr. Steven Dean. Even though I've gotten glasses here last year, this was the first time I had an exam here. I must say, I am 64 years old, and this was the most thorough exam I've ever received. Dr. Dean and his staff are nothing short of awesome. I was very impressed to say the least. Ms. Kathleen fitted me with my new sun glasses; and did not disappoint. I can tell she wholeheartedly enjoys her job. What a educational visit I experienced yesterday at their eye center. From the reception, to the exam by the doctor, to the fitting. All, was one of the best experiences I have had in an office such as this. A true exam, looking for eye disease with photo technology. Something that isn't always recommended in other centers. Explanation of benefits from the insurance standpoint, not something most of us do every day. The benefits were made clear when asked for the breakdown. Friendly staff. They are very conscientious and work hard to do the best for customers. They know insurance and try to make sure I got the best benefit out of my coverage. Dr. Dean is great. I used to work in Sumter and that's why I started going there but I have come to trust his work and his professionalism so I even travel there once a year to be able to maintain the quality of my eye care. The staff and doctor were amazing. Very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the fun conversation in-between business. I hate medical appointments but this didn't feel like one Thanks to a great staff. The exam was thorough. Their knowledge of insurance coverage helped guide a detailed cost analysis. Great selection of eyeglasses and they helped by offering suggestions on frames. I was able to get an appointment within a couple of days and when I arrived, was attended to right away. I had my exam and chose my frames and lens options were discussed. I have had issues with the sweet spot for my pupil alignment on the lens and they took into account my concerns and could see the difference with the marks tgat were made from the old lens ti the new ones. H Rbin Vision Centers is the best place to go get your eyes check. I was having problems with my contacts and I called them to see if they could see me. They did and got my straight.
