So happy I get to continue the tradition and get to share it with my kids. It's one of the few places you can still buy Thrifty's ice cream by the scoop and in tubs to take home! I went here today to get my favorite ice cream in the whole world that I normally get in California. I was not able to find it here in Arizona except at a different water store which only sold by scoop. I was able to get a huge half gallon of chocolate malted crunch. The person that served me was very friendly and provided excellent customer service. Tony is the best! He is always pleasant and provides great customer service. He's a hard worker you can tell he takes pride in this store. It's kept clean. We moved to AZ a few years ago and water is essential to living here. I'm particular with the taste of water (No Arrowhead for me.) and my pallet approves. Lol At $2/5 gallon bottle it's a very good value. I average a gallon a day on a good day so we're frequently here filling up 5-8 bottles. Give them a try. They have much more than water - sweet and salty treats I'm trying to stay away from. :-) read more

Pretty much the only liquid in my diet is water. I thought I was going nuts as the water was tasting terrible here. My mom, husband and girls confirmed it was not tasting good. It tasted like tap water. We have been stopping here over 10 years. I shopped around our areas. The only decent water wasn't in the best area. The owner and I talked about the taste. He didn't know what was causing it and hadn't had any other compliants. I felt bad. He spent $400 having a guy come out that he says services all the water businesses in the area. He looked everything over and changed a couple of filters. The water rates great again. I don't know what triggers them to change a filter but if you as me his service guy better get on the ball. Ha ha Been trying to buy extra bottles and treats to help with my $400 trouble I caused being the only family to notice. We do drink a lot of water. I appreciate that he took care of it and didn't make me feel bad. He said he appreciated it. read more

I was driving down Bell Road, and saw a sign on the side of the road that said, "Thrifty Ice Cream". Instantly, I had flashbacks to Rite Aid and Sav On Drugstores from my days growing up in Los Angeles! I knew at some point, I would have to investigate this and grab some of this ice cream for a couple of reasons. A. Thrifty Ice Cream! When the heck do you ever see Thrifty Ice Cream anymore? Um...probably never! It's like the UFO of the ice cream brands. You know it exists, but you only hear about it or see it once in a blue moon. B. Chocolate Malted Crunch! End of story...shit is bomb! Anyways.......... Me and my son had to run some errands today, so we decided to stop. Walked in the place, browsed the selection and placed our order. I got a scoop of chocolate malted crunch and a scoop of cookies and cream. I got a scoop of plain chocolate for my son. Prices were very reasonable. One scoop $1.70, two scoops $2.70, three scoops $3.70. Total was just under $5.00. We got our ice cream, grabbed a seat at one of the half dozen tables inside, and dug in. The ice cream was just as good as I had remembered! Just a little bit icy in parts, but it didn't detract from the overall goodness. They even use the same shaped scoopers from way back in the day. The scoops had that signature "square, yet still round" type shape that is extremely unique. Good stuff! The dude working in the shop was very friendly. I'm sure I will have a chocolate malted crunch craving sooner than later, so we will definitely be back! read more

If you are having a party, this is the place to go stock up on ice. This store has several bag sizes. The ice was cubed and not stuck together. The clerk will even help you carry the bags to your car. There was no one else in the store both times I visited. I had wished there was so I would have had an excuse to linger and try some Hawaiian shaved ice or ice cream. Next time! read more

Tasted just as good as anywhere else I've had it and the gentleman that was in the place....not sure if he was the owner, but he was very friendly to entire family and patient with the kids as they tried to make their decision, even offering my son samples of ones he wanted to try before choosing one.
