This would have been my nieces first year going with us. Not only did we all have to wake up early to get a rapid Covid test (due to them only being viable for 24 hours), but we also drove all the way to Columbus arriving 20 minutes early to find a sign on the door stating the performances were cancelled for today. I was furious, because I had just received an email before Christmas confirming my tickets. I then checked my email and BalletMet had sent a cancellation email at 11:35 for a noon performance. That's ridiculous. We drove over an hour, so unless I would've checked my email while driving on the highway, we still wouldn't have found out until we had already arrived. We will be going somewhere else next year, because this was a total let down. My five-year-old niece cried herself to sleep on the way home, because she was so excited to finally see The Nutcracker. To say this didn't put a pretty big damper on our holiday season would be a lie. They are reimbursing ticket sales, but what's money compared to a fun-filled day of making memories at the ballet :(

Very frustrated with the experience, on BOTH individual that are scheduled for 1 HOUR our instructor tried to end them at ~25 min in! We had to fight both times to have a full lesson. In preparation for the wedding we wanted to learn a dance to our sing. Instead they wanted to teach a single move from every style of dance. The instructor specifically said we had to stop practicing the foxy moves that went to our song. At the end of two lessons they pulled us into a private room and tried to upsell us for $600 to create a "wedding dance" Didn't attend the group lesson -wasnt even worth the time to drive there.

By the time our wedding day arrived, we weren't just "getting through it." We actually looked like we were dancing naturally, and we were confident with it. Their lead instructor, Emily, is one of the few female instructors in the area who has the credentials to compete at the professional open level and can compete with student partners in all four ballroom styles. But what makes Emily truly unique among the local instructors is that she's just as accomplished with club dances like salsa, bachata, and west coast swing, and can even teach dances that are harder to come by such as Argentine tango, kizomba, and urban kiz (the best dance, of course ;P). Basically, Emily is the most credentialed and well-rounded dance instructor in the area, and whatever your dance goals may be, she can at least get you started in the right direction.

They really care about students learning technique so they can progress as dancers, whether they are in it for the fun of it or in it to become a professional dancer. In fact, a couple of Butch's former students currently perform as Rockettes, another has been performing on Broadway for years, and others have been on college dance teams. Many of the Jr. Miss/Mr. Dance or Miss/Mr. Dance of Ohio have been instructed by Butch at some point (mostly during conventions, summer workshops) throughout their dance career. Many of the students have opportunities to perform locally and nationally whether it's through a local show or competition. Dance Masters of America is a large competition that students will compete at as well as Showstoppers and many others including local competitions. There have also been master classes offered at the studio but also at other studios/competitions that students have been encouraged to attend. Take a look at the wonderful ratings the dance studio receives on their Facebook page and you'll see how happy people have been with their experience. While I'm at it, I'd like to address the negative review on this page. It really saddens me that someone had a bad experience at the studio. I am certain if a dancer has an issue and it was brought forward to Butch it would be addressed in a positive matter. This year was my first year at Metro and will also be my last. I will be a sophomore next fall, but…read moremy freshman year here at Metro was like hell. For background, Metro is a STEM school that also pushes a very strict mastery agenda. You need to have a 90+ on all assignments to be considered passed with them. If not, you must remediate asap. My experience, as I said, was hell. One of the things I noticed, is that they do absolutely nothing about bullies and people saying slurs. I had this one kid on my class, constantly saying the n word and the f slur. Nobody did anything, they just scolded him and loved on. The school does nothing but maybe give them a suspension, even if it's a repeated instance. As someone who suffers from anxiety and depression, this is not definitely the school for me, and might not be the school for your child either if they suffer from chronic anxiety/depression aswell. Deadlines are deadlines at Metro, even with my 504, I would only get an extra day to turn assignments in. I understand they can't give me a week, but my teachers wouldn't even care for my 504. I was supposed to get guided notes, only got 1 packet out of the two teachers I was supposed to get them from in my second semester. If you cannot keep up with getting all A's and turning work in on time, I would NOT recommend Metro. I would also say's Metro worsened my anxiety. I had a lot of things going on outside of school aswell, and everything between that and the school got so bad I had to get on antidepressants antidepressant. I had friends who suffered from chronic illnesses, and they would have piles of work to do when they got back. If your child is apart of the LGBTQIA community, they WILL get bullied. I had a trans friend and he would constantly get called by his deadname and the same guys would constantly ignore his pronouns. There is also another trans student and she constantly got made fun of and talked about behind her back. I practically had no free time outside of school, it was all studying and homework. Sometimes on weekends I'd also have homework. Over the summer, before your child joins high school, they have to do a research project. Made absolutely no sense to me. The bathrooms, disgusting. I've heard stories form the boys bathroom, pee all over the walls. The girls bathroom, bloody tampons, pads, shit in the toilets. It may be the #1 STEM school, but that does not mean it is good. Please do further readership and read more reviews. I would only send my child here if I truly knew they could keep up. If I could, I would definitely give it a 0 star rating.

This schools classes is basically AP And Honor Classes and isnt worth any time with work .24/7 and extra things like needing service hours or roundtables to graduate. Its really not worth it because some people think its extra college credits but it could be done in a regular school by taking AP,Honors or classes above grade level and in Junior Year you should be able to go take colleges classes so really its not worth it
