Knowledgeable start when it comes to plants and other things. Nice displays in the garden shop in back. Lots of quality plants and trees. It's a nice little blast from the past when we had real nurseries. Only think I'd suggest is to go ahead and keep your higher prices but always have some plants on close out. I have recently been into plants and have found "Habig" to have the best and most affordable selection of plants. They often have sales as well! The workers are always helpful and warm which always makes my plant shopping experience more enjoyable. I have taken home three plants from there and they're doing very well! I was blown away by how much Habig Garden has to offer. I stopped by to pick up replacement cucumber plants for my garden. This location in Nora is much larger that it looks from the street. There are two buildings and the outdoor spaces is packed with healthy, beautiful plants. The front building is a gift store with garden-themed home decor, jewelry and other items. The rear building has house plants, pottery, plant care chemicals, bird food and houses and more. I asked about controlling bugs on one of my house plants. The clerk was knowledgable and asked a few questions and diagnosed my problem as spider mites. She offered a few options and made a recommendation for spray that I could try. This is the kind of service that you won't get in a big box store. I also picked up several fun greeting cards. The prices are good. Every area that I visited, someone greeted me and asked if I needed help. I love this place and recommend for garden and gift needs. read more

What an adorable garden shop with an amazing selection of plants! I spent about an hour here on a sunny Saturday afternoon, enjoyed petting the resident cat and found my mom a mother's day gift right away. There is a huge selection of unique flower pots plus lots of garden tips and the staff seemed eager to help anyone with questions. Never really gave this spot a second thought but it's much bigger than I expected. From the street you see the gift shop with outdoor plants. But as you turn off the main road you see another outdoor plant area, then another shop in back with indoor plants and all your plant care needs. The gift shop has lots of cute home decor, clothes, accessories, and random giftables. Not sure if it's seasonal but there was also a small farmers market with local produce outside in front of the gift shop. Cool garden and home goods store. Will definitely visit again. read more

I went into Habig's and could've have stayed in their for house! When I walked into both shops I was immediately greeted and asked if anything was needed! They were very patient with my questions! As I am new to plant life! Their plants and flowers are so healthy and beautiful! Highly recommend! I took home some potting soil and a new pot for my Peace Lily at home! I also bought a ZZ and it's flourishing! Very healthy! You can tell that it was well taken care of in shop! I am back to update my review regarding my ZZ! Today is 6/11. I purchased my ZZ on 5/17. My ZZ plant is flourishing! I've had a ZZ before in which I bought it from Target. It was slow growing. The soil I potted this ZZ in, is a special mix from Habig's. I'm sure it's a combination of that, having an already healthy plant from their nursery and proper care! It's growing consistently and I already have an even newer pup coming in! read more

You will find a nice selection of plants and pots there, plus everything else you need to be successful with your houseplants. One thing I really appreciate is that they have plants in all price ranges, and from very small in size to enormous fiddle leaf figs and bird of paradise plants. There are many plants under $20, even under $10. While I would love to take home a 6 ft tall fiddle leaf fig it really isn't in my budget today, not to mention I don't really have a place to put it unless I get rid of a piece of furniture and who knows, maybe some day I will. Employees offer expert advice and share recommendations and their vast experience. They are friendly and so helpful that that shopping here is always a fun experience. read more

This is a great Garden Shop located near 86th and College. They have indoor and outdoor plants and flowers, and when I went on a Saturday, they also had fresh produce from local farms! They have two buildings, the one in the front seems to be more "gift" oriented, with cards and trinkets, etc. while the one in the back is more of the garden shop. I went in specifically looking for pots, rooting powder and advice on propagation. I was able to find everything that I needed and the worker was very helpful. He gave me advice on what to do for successful propagation and how to best utilize the rooting powder. After looking at the prices compared to other places, whether it be chain-stores or other local shops, the prices seemed to match what I have seen at other places. I would highly suggest going here even if you aren't looking for something specific -- they have plants for beginners and the professionals! read more

I have only lived in the area shortly, but I have already fallen in love with this shop. I am a major crazy plant lady and I love spending time in plant shops! So far I have purchased the adorable little pepperomia pictured below, and I am sure I will be a repeat customer! I recently went looking for a Swiss cheese vine, and though they didn't have it in stock, they wrote my name and number down and told me they would order some and let me know! Now that is good customer service! They are very kind and they have good instructions written on signs for the different needs of plants. In honor of Earth Day, I figured today is the best day to share my review of Habig Garden Shops in Nora. Ever since we have been making daily trips into this area, I had been meaning to stop by Habig for some advice on a couple of my plants that are in need of 911. While the SoBro location was more convenient and sadly has closed, the daily journey on 86th Street made visiting this location doable. I described what was going on with my Prayer Plant and Money Tree (2 plants that my life desperately need to thrive) and received some good advice. A couple of weeks later after changing the soil, getting a moisture meter and repotting my plants, they seem to be doing better! In the last few years, I have picked up garden plant starts that always seem to do well so I will be back to Habig in a few weeks to pick up some plants for my garden boxes. read more

Habig is my first stop whenever I need a plant or planter. I like to paw through their clearance section for slightly damaged pottery and planters. I've scored many times in this section. (That's what she said.) One time I walked away with a huge planter that originally cost about $70, but I got it for $20. I love this place. Walk to the back of the grounds and you'll find a whole other store. This is where they keep the indoor plants. The prices are OK, but the selection is amazing. Lots of variety here. Went to get indoor plants for our house along with planters. we found a few and the girl who helped us was very nice. We found some ceramic planters we were interested in buying. My wife pointed that one had a problem. Since we needed 4, I offered to buy the irregular one for 25% off. The girl asked her boss as we were looking at other plants. When I returned there were only 3 planters on our cart. I asked the girl and she said she was told it wasn't on sale and it had been removed from our cart without our knowledge. I removed the third pot and told my wife we needed to get going. I simply wanted out of there at this point. I brought the truck around to pick up the three plants and pots we did buy. (We had intended to buy several trees and many pots as well.) When I returned to begin loading, the manager commented that my wife was trying to "sweet talk" him. His comment was not appreciated by either of us. The plants we purchased are nice. The girl was helpful. Cannot say the same about the manager; he was schmarmy. We won't return. There are other and better choices in the area. read more

What a darling place to pick up some plants, gardening tools, decorations or gifts! I stopped here recently for some mums (tis the season) and was blown away by the selection of plants and the care taken to display and tend to them. There were so many beautiful and unique plants. I mostly stayed in the front area, but understand there is an extensive indoor plant habitat in the back that I plan on visiting during the colder months to bring some outside indoors. The woman behind the counter in the gift shop was so sweet, clearly enjoyed working there, and gave me the helpful tip that there are additional locations for this totally family-owned, local business. Can't review one Habig's without treating the other, right? I love this Habig's location simply for the beautiful display of flowers and plants that grace its 86th street frontage every season. Plus, the little english cottage building that houses the gifts and where they take your payment just makes me want to stop and buy posies! Yet, here's what I love best about this place: the half-hour plus that two different staffers devoted to talking with us and helping us make our selections on our two visits. (This is the part of my review when I hate that I didn't get names). I have never felt rushed or ignored here, despite one of those two aforementioned trips being very near closing time. Lots of places of plants, lots of places have really nice plants, but you just can't beat excellent service that goes beyond "making the sale." Bottom line: I like shopping here so much that I would pass up a cheaper shop in favor of the treatment I get here. read more

Really pleased with my experience at Habig's! I came a few minutes before closing after trying almost every other nursery and I'm so glad I made it on time! I quickly found the hydrangeas that I was looking for, they were huge and well priced! The staff was super helpful and attentive, and I appreciate all of the advice and follow up care they offered. I've gone to Habig a few times & I really enjoy this shop. You can find pretty much anything relating to plants or gardening here & the prices are pretty reasonable. The staff are overall really nice & friendly but the last time I came, the lady who checked me out made a sort of rude passive-aggressive comment about me using cash during the COVID crisis. It was all I had, & if using cash is such an issue, they shouldn't accept it. read more

While not the best place for big outdoor pottery, by far the best place for small pottery. Lots of hard to find orchid pots (and they reorder often) lots of tiny pots and lots of unique pots. (Bonsai pots, too). And most are very affordable!!! Don't forget to say hi to the little kitty in the garden shop building! read more

For some reason there is not a place to review for habig in Carmel/Westfield so this is for that location. My husband went to lowes and was looking for house plants and I didn't really like them so went to habigs. Because this is a family owned business u expected the plants to twice as much. They weren't! We got them for basically the same price and the plants looked so much better. Also the two women there were so friendly and never once bothered us for staying 20 mins past closing as we were being indecisive. One woman had been there since the 70s and she was so knowledgable. I wish every nursery had someone like her. Also, they wouldn't let us take corn plant home bc we have a truck and the wind is gusting up to 50mph and they said it will hurt our plant. The kids at lowes sure didn't care if we took the plant home. And they were right, the branches would have broken in this weather. Finally, I volunteer for Indy feral cats in Noblesville and a lot of stores are nice enough to let cats stay there but we have to feed them and take care of them. At habigs, they have two fat and happy cats there that they feed and shelter. Shows what type of person the owner is, that he takes care of those who can do nothing for him in return. This place truly is the best plant shop in the city, hands down. My whole family is into plants & all of us have always shopped at Habig. I most often go to this location, but the location on College is awesome, too. I haven't been to the house in front (at the Nora location), I always go straight for the garden shop in back. They have an excellent selection of pottery at fantastic prices, I'd say they are about the same as Lowe's, possibly even more affordable. The staff is wonderfully helpful & friendly. The selection of house plants is refreshing as well. I'm always seeing plants I want every time I stop by. I am so used to how great Habig is that on the few times I make it to another garden shop, I'm disappointed at the high prices & lack of friendly service.
