There were books, media, beautiful pieces of furniture, rugs and loads of kitchenware and cookbooks. The clothes are only for men. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Prices were competitive with nearby thrift stores. There are also clean bathrooms and water fountains! The Mama Edna Project's Mission Statement: "To bring awareness of food insecurities as they exist among our most vulnerable populations, to gift it forward by honoring Mama Edna's legacy of feeding those who are hungry and to lift folks out of these insecurities by helping them thrive in all aspects of their lives to include helping them grow their own food when possible." I am glad I did, as Cat Angels Thrift Store is the perfect local thrift spot. I am forever looking for lowkey, under the radar-type thrift shops, and this one fits the bill. The space is quite small and well-organized. There are racks of clothing along the walls and a shoe cubby. I really appreciate how neat everything was, and how the clothing was reliably sorted by size. It made the browsing experience really enjoyable. There were lots of unique pieces and good materials. I ended up snagging a pair of Sam Edelman boots for under $20, and they were in great condition. There is a stamp card available as well! You get a stamp for each shopping trip over $20. Once you fill the card, you get $$ off your next purchase (I forget the amount off the top of my head). I am glad that money goes towards a no-kill cat shelter, and will definitely shop/donate here going forward.

The building itself is like a bizzaro museum. It is breathtaking. Seriously, this place is so freaking cool. There are three stories of eclectic architecture cobbled together from a couple of OLD buildings in Durham. It feels like you're in an old money crazy person's Victorian era fantasy world somewhere in Europe. There is a conservatory in the center of it all, with a tropical palm that towers the full three stories above a perfect little pond. I'm CERTAIN there are hidden passageways and secret doors in this place that undoubtedly lead to mysterious chambers where all manner of twisted and delightful treasures were once stored and insane rituals took place. This is the closest I've come to my dream house in real life. The antiques themselves are very high-end 200 year old Victorian stuff. There are $20,000 sideboards mixed in with $2,000 lamps. A lot of the stuff has obviously had damage restored, which seems reasonable considering the age, and the fact it is a hidden antique shop in Chapel Hill. Check this place out. A vast improvement from Community Worxx!! A few employees are quite friendly and engaging but the negative is that a few employees are not friendly and don't deem it necessary to be responsive or conversational which comes off as a little icy and indifferent. A little bit of "attitude" from the donation people outside as well as inside needs to be adjusted. Got home and googled them and I think you need to follow them on facebook to find out when they are open, which isn't often. Probably a fine store, but if you're going to put signs on the road, you might want to indicate when you are and aren't open before people drive two miles out of the way.
