I've donated and shopped at this thrift store for years. I've made some great finds. The store is well organized and clean. It's also a huge plus this line of thrift stores generously gives back to our local public schools! After the recent hurricanes in WNC I went to this store to purchase warm weather clothes for donation. I believe there is a conflict of interest amongst the employees and volunteers..One book volunteer takes all the great books after she puts them out. I'm smelling a rat with other volunteers who seem to get all the good stuff which I suspect if for re-sell.. And looks like other employees/volunteers are taking everything. Nothing is out anymore in spite of the colossal donation piles..Something is very wrong. read more

Well, they've hit an all time low. We purchased a table and paid the extra delivery fee of $25. The store manager wrote it down on the list. She never told us that it would be close to 2 weeks for delivery (it's never taken that long before). During that time our table would be sitting there for anyone to damage that happens by. We made arrangements to have a friend pickup the table within the 48 hour rule. (Strange how you have to pickup within 48 hours, but they can take their sweet time to deliver!) When asked for delivery charge paid back to us, manager said no. Have to take a store credit! how absurd!!! We want our $$ ! further insult, we would have to use the credit within 30 days. read more

Disgusting store. Very dirty. We were also kicked out of store for having our 3 and 2 year old toddlers with us. They even had masks on. What an idiotic policy where 8 and under cannot be in store. Do you want my money or not? read more

I am so sad to leave a 2 star review for this store. It actually should be a ONE star but there is a lovely set of people who work at the registers. Here's the deal: #1) The community donates to the Chatham PTA thrift shop but it is the small number of people who actually work there who BENEFIT from the best items donated. They skim the top items and what is left is for the customers. Honest thrift shops have rules against this: they believe since the community supports it with donations, the community should be first to benefit from the items donated. It would be nice if the Chatham PTA store adopted this core belief, but I won't hold my breath. #2) The manager (Debra, I'm not sure how its spelled) is horrible to customers. I watched her degrade one gentleman today when he inquired about the price of shoes. Then, watched her be downright mean to a customer about a platter she was interested in. I have seen Debra consistently bully the customers. If she does not like interacting with people, why on earth is she working here? It reflects very poorly on the Chatham PTA and those who allow her to continue with her rage. In short, it's a nice idea to want to help the PTA through the thrift store, but first you have to endure the managers wrath and what the employees have already picked over. It's usually best to just go somewhere else. read more

I love this little store! I try to go every week and get all of our clothes and gifts there or at the one in Pittsboro. It's hit or miss like everywhere else but I have never, ever noticed an off smell. It's usually priced better than Goodwill. We bought all of our children's books for years and they have a good selection. There is always something on sale at a fantastic discount. The great thing about the Chatham PTA Thrift Store is that it really does give substantial support to teachers and the schools. The parents and older students also volunteer there to obtain funds for their classrooms, clubs, bands and so on. They have done a fantastic job virus proofing the store from COVID. Masks are required and a small of amount of people come in at once. read more

Used to be awesome place but ever since store was moved around a year or so ago it's as if a tornado hit. Years ago volunteers would have it looking top notch pretty much daily but not sure what happened. Used to have some great stuff and now it's like a picked over yard sale waiting for the .25 per bag sale to start. read more

Downtown location: Uplifted the look of the inside of this store and I really enjoyed the selection. There was room to move a cart around the store. Looked less crowded. Racks werent over stuffed So you could actually flip through the hangers without snags and shirts falling onthe floor. I docked 1 star because u left the store with a running nose,and feeling VERY itchy. Wet wipes in the car took care of that afterwards. read more

Nice people, nice enough store. Reasonable prices. I enjoy donating and shopping there.

Bad pricing, and the best household merchandise goes home with the employees - never makes it onto the sales floor. Tank tops (Hanes, champion) priced at $3, while Armani blazers are mispriced at $4-6!! Chico's tank tops at $15 is higher than sale prices for new Chicos. Manager is oblivious to whatever is going on there. Fine to donate cheap household stuff, but for quality items, Habitat will make better use of your donation. read more

The staff is super friendly, much more so than the one in downtown Pittsboro. Good prices on books and games, etc. I'd stay away from the clothes, though. Kinda steep, and poor quality/condition. read more

Good place to shop but every time I drive from Sanford to shop there I leave havin been over charged for something. Also the people workin in there aren't very pleasant and some stuff is over priced for a thrift shop associated with a school. If I wanted to spend a lot for one thing I would've gone to Walmart and not waisted my money at a thrift shop where things are donated. read more

Great little shop for our community!! Goods donated mostly by our Chatham school families. A few loyal paid staff and lots of hard working volunteers keeping things running. The profits are divided among our participating school and are crucial to their operation. read more

This store does have great sales on their regular merchandise, and their housewares are very reasonably priced. As the other reviewer stated, the boutique merchandise is generally overpriced. I am not a "regular" customer, but have been in to the store maybe a dozen times over the past year. If you're into books, they usually have a good selection. Selection of men's clothing and shoes is very limited. Generally speaking, my experience has been okay. However, after today, I may choose to bypass this thrift store. The store, itself, is fine. But, one bad employee has left me wanting to go elsewhere. It first started with me asking her if the artwork was for sale. The piece I was inquiring about was literally 5 feet from her on the wall - all she had to do was turn around to see the piece I was asking about. (I TOLD her it was behind her.) She didn't turn, didn't look and said "Is it on the wall?" It was. She said, "If it's on the wall it PROBABLY isn't for sale." A few minutes later, I was around the toy area. She was putting up some items. (And, I wasn't under her at all.) She said, "Wait for me to finish and then you can have at it." (In a hateful tone.) THEN, when I went to the checkout, the lady on the cash register called for backup. By the time this employee made her way to the front, the line had died down. She opened up, rang up ONE of my items (I had maybe 6), looked at her co-worker and said, "You don't need me up here, why don't you ring her up?" She then made me move my items to the other register.
