While shopping, I observed multiple staff members who were restocking merchandise openly discussing, in front of customers, how they were removing the "good" items from the sales floor to take to the back and set aside in personal piles for one another. This was spoken about loudly and casually, as if it were standard practice. While doing so, these same employees repeatedly stepped directly in front of me and physically pushed past me to access racks I was actively browsing. This occurred multiple times and created an uncomfortable and disrespectful situation. The combination of staff hoarding merchandise for personal use and physically disregarding customers reflects a serious lapse in professionalism and store oversight. Customers should not be displaced or made uncomfortable so that staff can reserve merchandise for themselves. This behavior undermines trust, fairness, and the integrity of the store's operations, and leadership should be made aware.

Parking is a bit of a challenge as it's limited to the outer edge of the store. People double park on the side street, so if you've parked there your car would be blocked in. The store is located in a mixed use area. That being said, you'd think that the prices of their merchandise would reflect the needs of the community. Instead, prices were higher here than at any other Salvation Army we've ever been in. In fact, in some cases, prices were close to the full retail of new items. We did not buy anything here. And we would not recommend your going out of your way to come here.

In 1878 while reading the annual report for the Christian Mission he noticed the phrase "The Christian Mission is a volunteer army." The Salvation Army has churches throughout the world called Salvation Army corps but they are probably best known for their thrift stores. When items are purchased at the stores the money supports the Salvation Army's emergency relief efforts and programs. Unlike a lot of businesses the Salvation Army will hire ex felons. Some of the shops support the Adult Rehabilitation Centers which help people combat addiction. When you donate to or buy from the Salvation Army you are helping to support many worthwhile programs. I discovered this Salvation Army store while driving through Pembroke Pines. It used to be a Rooms to Go and the large size of the building caught my eye. As an avid thrifter I am always up to exploring a new store and this location was busy on a Saturday afternoon. Inside was one of the nicest Salvation Army stores I have ever been in South Florida although it still had that distinctive musty odor if you know what I mean. In the front of the store you will find large pieces of furniture like sofas, desks, and tables. Towards the back of the store are racks upon racks of clothes all organized by color and type. The amount of clothes was truly astounding. I feel like they could clothe the entire city of Pembroke Pines. Rounding out the inventory are accessories, home goods, toys, and books. If you were starting out in your first apartment you could get most of what you need here. Some of the things I picked up weren't in the best condition as they were broken or chipped. Take the time to really examine every item before you purchase. That said, if you ae a bargain hunter you will be in your element.

We got to watch two presentations with the keepers. Afterwards, they were doing a medical check on a particular dolphin that was having stomach upset. A nice man came along and told us "a keeper smarter than we will be along soon, but I can answer your questions for now. Oh, there's someone smarter than me now!" And he gestured to one of the summer interns. They both laughed. He told us all about each dolphin and their story. He told us about the hurricanes 10 years ago, and how the water rose far above the dolphin enclosures, offering them freedom, but none of them left. It was clear he really loved these animals. He walked away to assist the team working with the dolphin. The intern turns to us and says "that's the founder of this place. He's here every single day. He's the smartest of all of us!" She was great too. She said she's been dreaming of being a dolphin trainer since she was a kid. She was from Texas, but you could tell she was exactly where she was meant to be. I hope they hire her permanently. We loved the dolphin research center and will definitely be back someday!
