I really enjoy this store. I'm disappointed to see a credit card surcharge added at checkout. I am a victim of the Eaton Canyon Wildfire. My Family escaped with only the clothing on our backs. We are still living in hotels and trying to settle into permanent housing while adjusting to our new normal. Having stated the above, we receive considerable support from our community and various organizations that offer to assist us in getting back to our lives. In this connection, ReStore located in the City of Pasadena, was one such organization. For example, we decided to take them up on an offer for a discount on custom kitchen cabinets. I made an appointment and came into the store with my contractor, where we met with Adrian, who assisted us with the layout and design of our kitchen. Adrian is competent and took the time to detail his layout, often revisiting it in real-time to correct any mistakes he had made. He also gave us helpful suggestions for our design. So far, so good. Now, the problems begin. We paid for the cabinet, which includes crown molding and additional cabinets where our stove would be. After leaving the store, I realized that I had told him I preferred Shaker-Designed, but I had not picked my color, which was going to be black. So, I immediately called back Adrian to say to him we had forgotten to choose the color, only to be informed by him that the Shaker-Design only comes in white, when I had my heart set on black. I could tell by the tone of his voice and his statements that this would be a problem for him. I just said I would have to go with the countertops in black, so leave the order as it is. Only later did Adrian contact me, saying that he had forgotten to include the price for some of the cabinets. So, in addition to the over $3,000 we have already paid, there will be an additional $300. At the time, I thought he had made an honest mistake, so I immediately returned to the store and paid the extra funds. Finally, we were contacted to say our order was ready for pickup. My contractor went to the store and was assisted by the workers at the Restore Store in Pasadena in loading his truck with our order. When our contractor arrived at the project site, we began counting the boxes and noticed that some were missing. There should have been a total of 14 boxes; we received 13. After counting several times, I immediately contacted Adrian to let him know in real-time that some of the items were missing. Adrian, ask me to take a picture of the items we received and send it to him, which I did. We waited a few days to be contacted back. Adrian finally contacted us to ask if the contractor had left the missing items in his truck. We told him no, the item was never loaded onto his car; it is simply missing. Again, Adrian promised to look into the matter. Another week goes by, and Adrian sends me a picture of boxes on a dock, as if that proves we received them. I replied that it was a great picture, but we never received all of our items. After the above, Adrian calls to say that someone named Kelly will be contacting me, which I thought was great; they will either refund our money for the missing items or provide us with the missing items. Kelly finally contacted me to request more details about the missing items, which I provided and accompanied with pictures of what was missing. To assist her in visualizing what was missing, our contractor assembled the cabinets we had received and highlighted the area that was missing. Now, she said, she would look into the missing items. Since providing her with the above information, I have not received a response from them, so I decided to follow up. Since no one picked up the line, I left a voice message stating either that we should request a refund so we can purchase the missing item elsewhere or that we should give up on the missing item. Finally, Kelly called to inform us that she knows the problem; we never paid for all of our items. After all of this running around and back and forth, this is what she decided to come up with to justify not correcting an obvious mistake on their part. My response was that I would report this to corporate headquarters. Kelly said sarcastically, 'Do you want the number?' as if she knew they would do absolutely nothing. I know this is a great organization, and its workers are exceptional. I feel that this particular organization has not established a system to correct itself when an honest mistake occurs, which is why you have workers like Kelly trying to "Gaslight" paying customers with all these nonsensical theories as to why the customer is to blame for their mistakes. Having stated the above, I am still living at the hotel and intend to move to a place that will be our new home. Now, I'm forced to spend additional money, which I don't have, to replace what I've already paid for. All of this was because they were offering a discount for fire victims, only to find out I would have spent pretty much the same price or lower at other places. read more
