I love what Habitat for Humanity does. I like supporting them by shopping at their stores and donating items. The Franklin store has the most unfriendly staff. I'm not sure if they are volunteers or employees but they definitely do not make you feel appreciated. There is never a "thank you" or anything. Basically, I feel like a nuisance when I donate any items here. read more

This affiliate restore is very disappointing. I was Vice President of Construction for an affiliate in Southern California, we had 2 large restores. Our affiliate took all kinds of donations private and corporate. Much like Nashville restore. The affiliate in Nashville isn't much bigger than this Franklin affiliate but they understand what a restore is about and how to operate. I'm a local contractor and know the value of resale products. When I can I try to salvage good gently used product from job sites to donate to Habitat for Humanity. The purpose of a restore is to sell the product to help fund the construction of affordable housing for low income families. I've tried to make several donations over the last few week but have been turned away. They aren't accepting many great usable items. Fortunately the Nashville location is close enough to take product to and still help this great non profit. The other major issue that is likely a reason they aren't accepting product is because they are highly overpriced on most of what they sell. I make these donations to help people yet if you don't sell the product it defeats the purpose of the program. The inventory doesn't change to often either. Whom ever labels the pricing should visit a home improvement store and the Nashville affiliate to see what product actually should be priced at. Having over priced product leads to excess inventory that just takes up floor space. Then if it's decide to discount items you lose countless hours repricing things that could have sold sooner and made room for new inventory. It's unfortunate that this affiliate hasn't quite figured out how to make money on volume instead of a single sale. Trying to squeeze top dollar for things that were donated is borderline unethical. Profits from sold good are nearly a 100% profit. Yes, there are paid staff. They do also have volunteers that help in these stores but a proton of the money from goods sold helps pay a small salary for a few staff members. Even with all of that said. The organization is a very good non profit doing great things. Please support them however you can. Whether here or other locations. Know this though, each affiliate is separate from the other. So your dollars, donations or help serves only the people in that affiliates area. read more

This location moved in the past year and have a ton of space now. I am always amazed at the items they get in and would encourage anybody doing a renovation or building or just a handy person to look around here and find things to repurpose or use. They have pretty much anything you could imagine from vanities, fixtures, drop cloths, small hand tools, windows, doors, lawn and garden items. I am more impressed with the large items that you would use in a home and the pricing on that --however once in awhile you may get a half decent deal on a piece of furniture but they seem to jack the prices up on that stuff since the move. HFHWM, Tn. is a blessing in many ways. I have been a demonstrably extremely grateful Habitat homeowner since 2010, in a precious home specifically built for my disability needs. A single, older retired educator, I am also on disability with a fixed income and tremendous medical requirements...my private home and fabulous interest free mortgage bring me incredible comfort, fun and community in Franklin. But here come the bad parts, and they are huge. I and my other HFHWM neighbors experience frustration, disappointment, sadness, anger and more over the following issues plus others. There has been so much awfulness, I can't possibly describe it all in one sitting, so will hope to give it a start, and perhaps edit this later. Our homes have had terrible problems because of poor materials and construction...including with the promised "professional" hires in particular areas. What is worse, we have been questioned overly much, discounted, mis trusted over going to them for corrections...even in the first year of warranty. Linoleum in my home and at least two others was coming up in huge rolls and had to be completely replaced. My refrigerator light never has worked even after several repairs. My HVAC had expensive broken coils in my second year (tho the lovely installer replaced them for me for free, no credit to HFHWM.) My kitchen plumbing leaked the first year, needing replacing then and later. My kitchen counters have been badly pulling away from the walls since the begnning. There were electrical problems. There are problems with plot lines that have caused serious conflicts. Failure to disclose crucial things before contract signing has majorly occurred. Many other issues have come up, but the worst is what I discovered at seven years (probably had begun earlier): my roof was in bad repair, needing a complete takedown and rebuild. In my research, I found that this was true for ten of the fourteen homes HFHWM built near me...because they bought and used horrible, cheap shingles, the very year the maker discontinued them because of lawsuits against them all over the south. Then they used unskilled labor in constructing the roof. Franklin Codes and my miraculous Tim Leeper Roofer asserted all this. Leaks were also found. HFHWM has been remorseless about all these actually frightening things. In fact, they rarely if ever apologize for their mistakes. My roof miracle came when a church member donated the entire $8,000 cost of a full, brand new Tim Leeper roof with a fabulous warranty, and gutter guards. If this had not happened, my home and I would be utterly, literally lost. My nine other neighbors have not been so blessed. Perhaps I should start to sum up overall poor features of this so called faith organization. (Let me eliminate the volunteers who are terrific and a joy.) But the systemic structure of the remainder, the office staff and Becket Moore, Executive Director over staff in particular, as well as the BOARD fail tremendously in demonstrating the Christian attributes they claim to espouse. We believe they care more about their glory than the actual homeowners they supposedly serve, especially once contracts are signed. Their communication is awful. Issues, phone calls, emails, letters are belittled or ignored completely. Promises are constantly being made and broken. Lies have been made. They can be unethical, arrogant, prideful, unkind, discourteous, manipulative, controlling when they promised freedom before purchase, even to the point of illegality, mean, unsympathetic, inattentive, judgemental, untransparent with finances...they have charged our hated but forced HOA monies but refuse to give the required documentaion when asked, and it is proven that many were bogus (for four years I was the HOA president, but this is too complicated to describe here), nonresponsive, bullying, they have often breached my confidentiality when this is technically forbidden, and on and on. I would ignore them if I could, and I try, but they will not leave us alone! FYI: my home and yard are kept beautifully, fresh and clean, decorated and landscaped with great charm and taste. I comply with all Franklin codes and laws, and most of the HOA Rules, in fact, more than anyone else here. I have enriched my neighborhood in many lovely, loving, generous ways...there is no excuse for the way I, or any of us are so poorly treated, and have been for ten years. Please, if there is anyone who can help them be better, do so. And pray, hard, tor this organization which starts delicious dreams, then works hard to smash them. read more

My bf and I are doing a remodel of our 1920s bungalow in Nashville so we have been checking out all the restores in the area. We had tremendous luck with the Nashville and Murfreesboro stores with extremely helpful employees and reasonable to obscenely low prices for pretty much everything. This is the only restore in the area since they closed the columbia store. I have to say our experience with this store was disappointing. They had very little in the way of building materials cabinetry countertops tile sinks etc......what they did have was alot of seriously overpriced furniture framed art and light fixtures. We ended up with a $25 ceiling fan a small two light fixture with broken glass (we have some glass we can use to replace to with at home) for $10 and a rod gor a shower curtain bna for our second bathroom gorc $2. We also got some hooks for hanging purses (side business I have a lot of purses lol) $2:a piece. Got no help from any employees. Not a soul asked us if we needed help while shopping. When we went to pay for the few items we did buy the clerk rang up the fan we put on the counter and the shower rod that was all he noticed the bath room fixture and the purse hooks were in the cart he was so lazy he didnt stand up to look in the cart he had no intention of charging us for anything but the fan and shower rod. We had to tell him he rest was there or we would have walked out of the store with this stuff free. Lazy employees overpriced everything. I would stick with Nashville and Murfreesboro stores. Better pricing better selectionm. Nashvill e in particular. They seperate the building materials in one store. Then have a second store with furniture lighting and home decorating items. Franklin not worth the drive. I get this is for charity but they are charging prices like a for profit thrift store. So not worth the money. read more
