We visited Hacienda Canelos with high expectations, and while the restaurant itself is beautiful, the dining experience was disappointing. The ambiance is fantastic and one of the highlights of the restaurant. It's a great place to enjoy the atmosphere, and the presentation of the food is impressive. We ordered the tomahawk steak, one of the most expensive items on the menu. It arrived looking spectacular, but unfortunately, the quality of the meat did not match the presentation. The steak tasted anything but fresh, making it one of the most disappointing tomahawks I've had. The service was also inconsistent. At times it was attentive, but there were long stretches where we didn't see our waiter and had to wait for assistance. The drinks were actually better than the food and ended up being the best part of the meal. Overall, Hacienda Canelos offers a beautiful setting and great cocktails, but the food quality and inconsistent service make it difficult to justify the price. I hope they improve the quality of their steaks because the restaurant has a lot of potential. read more

We reserved a table for the Canelo Fight. We arrived early and everything was ready for us and in front of a TV. We had a waiter who stayed with us whole evening. He was very attentive. Place was very nice and decorated very nicely for the holiday. Chips and salsa were served. Very flavorful salsa. And the guacamole was also on point. They had music playin on speaker and mariachi Walking around playing for Patrons. Me and my Hubby ordered the cowboy steak plate. Medium well , served with grilled vegetables and mash potatoes. Steak was so juicy and cooked to perfection. The vegetables were cooked perfect al dente and the mash potatoes had cheese on them. So flavorful. We really enjoyed our food. I also ordered a cafe de la olla and it was pure heaven. It hit the spot for and after dinner drink. We watched all the fights featured. The speaker was not the best by us and was way too loud. And fight would pause and just loading and loading the internet must have been overrun with too many people this happen about 4 times but we finished the fights. It was a good night read more

This restaurant is worth all the hype. Servers were very nice and helpful. The food was delicious...their queso fundido was the best we had during our entire trip in Guadalajara. They can accommodate a big party as there were nine of us. The drinks were great. I recommend the Vampiro over the Cazuela, but both are good. The Vampiro is just stronger. My husband and I stumbled upon this place on TikTok. It's amazing! The food is great and shareable. Tastes really good! You have to go with an empty stomach. The ambiance was beautiful and very clean. The staff is attentive and the service was quick. When I come back to Guadalajara I'd come back again. The parking was easy to navigate and cheap only 50 pesos. They had a section where they had a live mariachi but we didn't get to sit there. They have coi fish in the pond. read more

We went on a Monday night, the hostess had a crappy attitude as if she didn't want to be there. The restaurant wasn't busy but it did take forever to get some service. Once we did, our waiter was attentive. We ordered a meat plate that fed 5 adults but more could have ate from it. The restaurant itself is beautiful 10/10. lively and fun. The food has a good quality and the service is also good considering how much the servers have to juggle with such large groups. Canelo's is a great place for very large groups it also has a section for kids to play in which I thought was a great idea. They have a huge selection of alcohol. There food menu is one small section the alcohol menus is two pages. The bad: I ordered the shrimp cocktail and they never mentioned that they serve it hot. It was extremely salty and so was my friends. instead of offering to replace the item or to take it off our tab he brought us a cake on the house. This wasn't a shrimp cocktail it was a shrimp soup. Shrimp cocktails are suppose to be refreshing. They also serve the shrimp with the tail on. The portion was great the condiments and presentation were beautiful. I ordered a strawberry margarita the size was small it was served with natural strawberries which was nice but it was too sweet and not enough tequila. Tasted more like a strawberry drink. Anyways all in all a fun place to visit just make sure you get what you pay for and give them feedback. People won't come back if the food is bad i'd like to see this restaurant and concept succeed but I always feel that eventually the notoriety fades and the food is what makes people come back every time read more

Went during a work trip. Walking in: it's beautiful! It was dinner time. All the twinkling lights & hacienda style openness &open sky set the nicest summer nites atmosphere. Long selection of tequilas, beers & margaritas. Something for everyone. Mediocre Mariachi comes around & offers to play for $300mx which is pretty ridiculous. But to get the full effect with several first timers in our group we requested a few songs. They sang they danced. It was a fun time! Great attentive service. Everything was great, UNTIL... Until the food came. We ordered the large caso with the Mixta, basically a little of everything they offer plus rice guac beans & tortillas. We weren't exactly sure what kind of animal actually made it on to the table but don't think it was chicken. The others were tough. Some super fatty. We left the food almost untouched. Except for guac beans chips & salsa. If you're just having appetizers & drinks, it's perfect for that. Open breezy nite. Fun times But eat before you come. Or stop here before you head to dinner I don't recommend the actual food. I usually try a recommended place at least once. I tried. But not interested in coming back. Give it a try. I only didn't like that they try to make a buck whatever way they can. They sold us a picture and then gave me some tickets for some raffle and the prize was a vacation that you had to pay for. Beautiful outdoor restaurant. Impressive interior, great mountain waterfall. Mariachi, shooter samples and servers. Very relaxing, then very fun later. Had arrecherra molcajete. Worst place in Guadalajara. Walked in after reading reviews. I now assume they must have been fake. Waiter rude never cracked a smile. I had pollo carbon. It was the driest piece of meat I have ever eaten. They also gave me some wilted lettuce and no rice or beans. The tortilla chips were stale and tasted awful. My wife had arrachera which was so chewy it took forever to get it down her throat. To top ot off they try to sell you photos. The band playing was terrible and the singer even worse. Last they double charged me for the pollo and it took some time to get that fixed. Do yourself a favor and stay away from here. read more
