They explained what was wrong and exactly what they were doing before starting, even showed me the new & old parts and told me in detail why my old one was having an efficiency issue. He gave me advice about what to do if I continued having issues (what a "bad" mechanic might try to offer versus what a "good" mechanic should do to diagnose the problem, which I also appreciated!) The guy was very kind and thorough. I wish I could remember his name, but the Muffler Shop has surely earned my continued business should my vehicle ever have any more problems.

We headed out on Thursday morning for the 5 day drive back home to Oakland California, taking a northern route to stop by Badlands National Park and Mt Rushmore. By Saturday evening, we arrived in Cheyenne WY, where we spent the night. After looking at the weather forecast for the Sierra mountains, we decided to pick up some chains for our tires at the local Walmart in Laramie, WY, before continuing on our trip. On Sunday morning, as we got close to Laramie on I-80, the engine started sputtering, misfiring and losing power. The EPC light kept flashing and it was clear something was wrong. I was able to make it to the local Walmart parking lot, though the car stalled a few times on the way there. After I parked, I was unable to generate any power beyond idling, and the car continued to stall. I consulted yelp and google to find a local mechanic, but none of the local shops were open on Sunday. I saw a listing for Rise High Auto Repair, which described itself as a mobile mechanic company. I called the number and spoke with the proprietor, Chris on the phone. He said he could be there in 35 minutes and would diagnose the problem for $125 ($95 diagnostic fee and $35 travel fee) in the Walmart parking lot and that the $95 diagnostic fee would count against the repair cost if we opted to have him repair the car. When Chris arrived in his mobile truck, he was incredibly friendly and he got straight to work. He recommended replacing the spark plugs and wires, thinking that would address the issue. After finishing the repair and clearing the codes, he suggested I drive around in the parking lot a few times to reset the computer to see if the repair addressed the issue. However it did not. I made it about 200 feet and the initial problem persisted. He said he thought it could be an issue with the throttle, which he said he could clean, but if it needed replacement, I'd need to spend a couple of days in Laramie, because it was unlikely any of the local part shops would have the necessary part in inventory. He took apart the throttle, cleaned it out, and reset the computer. We decided to take our chances and see if we could make it to Salt Lake City and then Elko NV, which was about 625 miles away. The car ran well all the way to Elko. We got to Elko around 10:30 pm, and I noticed I had a text from Chis checking in on us to see how the trip was going. On Monday morning, we continued our trip back to Oakland and arrived safely with no further issues. Again, I had a text from Chris on Monday, to see if we made it home ok. All told we drove over 1100 miles. I can't say enough about Chris. First, he was incredibly competent. I could tell from speaking with him that he is extremely knowledgeable about automobile repairs. Watching him work, I felt like I was watching a surgeon. He made all of the repairs in the Walmart parking lot and he worked efficiently and thoroughly to ensure that he was able to repair the car. It was cold and windy on this particular Sunday and he invested over 4 hours of his time fixing our car outside. Finally, he was incredibly honest and kind. He cared enough to check in on us until we got home, something he really didn't need to do. I unequivocally recommend using Chris and his company if you find yourself in Laramie WY.

They kept my vehicle for 42 days to replace a fender and a bumper, while continuously lying to both me and my insurance about a finishing time. I went up to check in person because they'd pushed back the finish date on my car 6 times, to the point where I no longer had a rental. My car was sitting in the parking lot 6 weeks after I'd dropped it off, in substantially worse condition than when I started. Things in my glove box had been taken out, and the headlights were in the back seat. Also: MY KEYS WERE ON THE HOOD IN BROAD DAYLIGHT. After confronting the owners about it, they informed me that was policy so their employees had easy access to move them. My car was also substantially dirtier than when I'd dropped it off. I got permission from my insurance to reacquire the vehicle, and he'd informed me they'd violated their contract with Progressive and I have full rights to get the vehicle back from them. Initially around week 3 I'd asked to get the vehicle back since I was about to not have a rental any longer- one of the owners informed me he'd pay for any time it had run over. If I would not have returned my rental, they would have owed $700 at the time I took it back. He didn't expect me to tell him that was the amount, and I watched the light in his eyes die because they would have done a solid portion of the work for free. At no point do I believe they would have paid for anything over. I cannot recommend this shop, at all, to anyone. The customer service has been awful and they will leave you in the dark. Sally, at the front desk was completely unprofessional.

We nervously waited while they attempted the fix and within just a few minutes, Mike and his team had the dings all knocked out, even correcting a pretty significant dent that appeared to be a manufacturing defect. Secondly he could fit me in the same week that I called inquiring. The bumper was beautiful and looked like new after he finished it. It only took him about 23 hours from drop off to the call for pick up. He charged me exactly what he quoted me and it was a good deal. My issues were that he told me after I had already arrived to pay that if I had cash he wouldn't charge me tax. Well I didn't have cash and I wish he would've told be beforehand. He also told me the car wouldn't be ready for 2 days when I dropped it off. I had to work so I needed it earlier. He told me he would do his best to have it ready the next day. I had to go through an ordeal to get someone who could give me a ride the next day. Well he called me first thing the following morning saying it was ready. I was not prepared for that since he made it sound like it would be late when the car was ready. So I had gone through a bunch of nonsense to secure a ride and it was completely unnecessary. Lastly I'm not sure what in the world happened but after I drove my car home I discovered that it was covered in ants. They were everywhere. I had to wash it and I was still finding them. That was gross and annoying. After everything I would do business there again because the work was done well for a fair price.
