Stay safe and stay away from this place!!! I Just moved to the area, saw a female Vet during the summer who was rude and condescending towards me about my cat, clearly discriminating against me for being queer, and for bringing him to in, he's 12, has feline HIV, so when something goes on I don't hesitate to have him seen. I wrote a review about it at the time and didn't think much of it. As someone who works in healthcare, as a nurse taking care of humans, generally speaking we aren't allowed to be rude to people when they seek medical care. Afterwards, I didn't establish care anywhere else for him and woke up today with green discharge coming from his eye, made an appointment because I don't know where else to go. I got a very strange return call from a Vet tech who told me in a very cryptic and round about way, that the Doctors don't want me to come to the clinic and for me to find a new a Vet. So I guess now we aren't allowed to stand up for ourselves and call people out for poor behavior and discrimination? Shouldn't have even thought about coming back to this place to begin with but you all can do better. If you are new to the area, and queer, they will discriminate against you and refuse your business. run! Run! Run! Also I was charged A LOT of money for the initial visit to begin with. Run!

We will never go there again

We called the Barre Animal Hospital while in the ADK's and they were able to see us the following week when we were staying near Barre. Everyone at the clinic was wonderful and we had a nice long conversation with Dr. Chihocki while he did full physicals, gave them their rabies shots and microchips. We were even able to get a refill of medication for one pup who was still dealing with a skin irritation. You could tell everyone there loves animals and showed ours a lot of attention. Didn't like the look & feel of the interior, gave out a whole juvenile detention center vibe to it, lay out was so odd. Cold and outdated and just did not feel welcoming AT ALL. Vet we saw was ok but the vet tech acted like she was new and didn't give me confidence how she handled our small dog. As she was frightened of her? And canned cheese for treat...really? Walked in for a nail trim (2nd time in), and tech wanted to just take my dog out back to do it; mind you my dog is super nervous if I'm not with her. I asked if i can come so to calm her. They wouldn't allow (that's fine, not all places are to allow that), but what I'd found off putting was that my dog wasn't going anywhere with a stranger and that was enough for her to suggest a sedative....to cut her nails! Wow, ok, I had never heard of something so extreme just to cut a dog's nails. I passed on that. Her reason: "don't want to traumatized." So she couldn't suggest a less drastic alternative than sedation? Uh, yeah, every dog that walks into a vet is already scared, one can't get passed that. It's why some let their pet owners in with them, or (as I had suggested): can you just do it while she's on my lap? Even groomers do this mind you. Yeah I don't feel a dog needs to be sedated for this. Now I take her to the Bristol vet place. Warmer office vibe and feel and more detailed information for my dog's needs, etc.

Our cats have all been sick and sneezing and coughing and having diarrhea as well. My father in laws dog has kennel cough now and had diarrhea as well. When I called to inquire they brushed it off as anxiety and stress which we have never had an issues with before. While the staff is generally nice, the treatment protocols have been frustratingly repetitive and expensive with little long-term success. Through this time, they have made no follow up calls to even check in to see how he is doing; not one!! For years, we were given the same medication for the same duration, which only acted as a band-aid. We finally received a proper diagnostic (skin scrape) in late 2025 which revealed a Staph infection. After spending over $600, the infection returned worse than before just a week after treatment ended. When I suggested today that he needed a longer course of medication, they ignored my input and prescribed the same duration that failed previously. Mind you, todays visit was a month from the skin scrape "tech" appointment, which again was with meds, $600. I was told because it was a "tech" appointment and not a "real" visit I would need to book another $100 visit just to get medication again. so, within a month we have spent nearly $1000 just to end up back to where we were. I will say some of this is my fault as well, I should have seen the writing on the wall months ago that all they really want is to be in your pocket. If you are thinking about going there, don't. if you're there currently, maybe it's time to looks elsewhere. Additionally, during this most recent visit, they performed a lab test without asking me or quoting the price first--I was surprised by the charge at the counter. Transparency is important, and I feel like I am being stuck in a loop of ineffective treatments and surprise bills.

And she said glumly, "yeah why don't you come back tomorrow" (still lookin at the computer.) "I'm reading the doctor's notes." I said, "well it's a 40 min drive AO if you have the medicine here I will wait." She paused, as though I'd asked her to cut my hair and finally said, "ok well I have to get it together." So I'm waiting here now. She just came out with it -- it took her the 5 min it took me to type this on my phone. Not impressed with the cold attitude and service.
