She was already booked at the time (I needed an immediate replacement), but she spent that evening calling colleagues in her network that may be available to assist me. So many times my friends were going to go "natural" but in the end they would give into the almighty needle. So I did a ton of research and I came to the conclusion that I was going to educate myself as much as I could and that I would hire a doula. My husband was very skeptical... His entire family laughed when I said I was going to try a natural birth. Their exact words "Why would you ever choose that?!!" So I dragged my reluctant husband to our 6 week Hypnobabies course. By the 3rd week he was fully on the natural train! He told me "I really think you can do this!" The class was great and I really loved how we bonded with the other couples!! Lorraine was our doula also and it was a great experience. From our interview to when our sweet baby girl came Lorraine was at our disposal. She kept me calm and focused during my birthing time/labor and at the end I faced some complications... Lorraine gave me the lowdown on what was going on and let me know that it was crunch time! Looking back it really was the perfect pep talk... I pushed the baby out in 3 contractions!! And believe it or not I was up and walking around 30 mins later! My husband looked more jacked up than I did, lol. I had such a positive experience with Lorraine on top of a great birthing experience. I would do everything all over again in a heartbeat!

From my experience attending Whittier School, I want to give an honest review. I personally had no…read moreprior medical experience, and the program I enrolled in was the Medical Assistant program. I understand that this career path is challenging, especially when it comes to terminology and anatomy. However, from the very first day, there was very little encouragement from the instructor teaching the course. There was also a noticeable lack of structure. We weren't given guidance on how to study or how to format our notes--everything was something we had to figure out on our own. I understand we're adults, but it still would have been helpful to receive some formal direction or tips for successful studying. I also would've preferred if classes were held every day instead of only two days a week. With the program lasting only about four months, students are forced to cram a lot of information into a short amount of time. Spreading the material out more evenly and offering more frequent classes would make a big difference. Toward the end of the course, I noticed the instructors seemed to lose interest in the students. It honestly felt like they didn't care whether we passed or failed. Another major issue is the internship. They tell you that you will have one, but that's misleading. Only the best students are able to get placed at PIH, while others are either told to wait or to find their own internship. Overall, I think the program has potential but needs major improvement in structure, support, and honesty with students.

I found Renea online & met with her a few days later in our home. I knew by the end of our meeting that she was who I wanted beside me as I labored and gave birth. On the day I went into labor we were in constant communication via text. Once active labor began she came over to my home (with all of her essential oils!) and worked through the contractions with me. She was a strong supporter for me during this intense time! She came with us to the hospital and was right by my side as I delivered my son. We hired her again for our second-born son's delivery and she was with me, again, during active labor and at the hospital. We also saw her for a postpartum visit after each delivery. It's been 2 years since we first hired her and we are still friends. I text her randomly with a question and she is quick to reply! I've said this before and i'll say it again--i wouldn't want to birth my babies without Renea by my side!
