If you're looking for a tiny bakery with delicious donuts and pastries, you have to go to Hadorn's. A friend who lives in Bardstown told me if we ever come to Bardstown, we MUST go to Hardon's Bakery. He was right! I loved that the building is so tiny and clearly it's been around a lot of years and I just loved that character about it. I did have to stand in line outside and it was so worth it! They have a donut called a Yum Yum, it's a cinnamon twist glazed donut that is drizzled with milk and white chocolate. So good! They also sell glazed donut holes, we ordered 2 dozen. They were very flavorful, soft and fluffy. Pure perfection. They have filled donuts called Munchkins and they were also so great! Munchkins are only sold on the weekends. The pecan danish is a round cinnamon danish that is glazed with what tasted slightly like maple and topped with pecans. If you're a fan of cream cheese, be sure to get a cream cheese danish, it was fantastic. The apple jack is a donut filled with diced cinnamon apples and drizzled with frosting on the outside. It was hit!! I also bought a few smiley face cookies. A bakery back home in Michigan went out of business a few years ago and we miss their smiley face cookies so much. These were the closest we've had to them so far. They brought back great memories of our favorite bakery that is no more. They were also serving peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies. Both looks very good but we didn't order them. When I was there they didn't have coffee. I'm not sure if they no longer serve coffee (because of the pandemic) or what the deal was. They're only open until 1 and I hear they sell out of things early. I went right after they opened so luckily, nothing was sold out. Long story short, GO TO HADORNS BAKERY!!! read more

Having lived in the area over 3 years now (Louisville native), I must say this is my absolute favorite gem to have discovered. I've tried many different donut shops in the city and I still prefer Hadorn's over them all. I have yet to try anything I didn't like. Best donuts I've ever had in my whole life. The dough is light airy and melts in your mouth. The glazes are perfect and they have a special donut called the yum yum that will knock your socks off but be careful it's a hear attack waiting to happen. I came to visit Bardstown on a Sunday. What a mistake! I found out that most of the establishments are closed on Sunday. I noticed this bakery was the only one that was open on the block. I stopped in. The folks behind the counter were friendly...enough. One person suggested the yum yum donut. It's resembles a twist with swirls of chocolate and cinnamon?
