This place is getting a high 3.5/low 4 from me. Again, for those who follow my reviews know that I try to remain fair yet critical in my review. I will admit that I have a bit of a bias considering my daughter is a baker. She is not local to us so this review is based on strictly a non-bias experience. After enjoying a meal around the corner from here, I decided to stop in for a "sweet retreat" with an excitement and joy to discover well sized macarons on the menu. Price is fair for size and location. Their brookies and brownies are jaw dropping when you see their size. We were so full from lunch that I couldn't fathom anything more than what we bought. I went in to order a cake. The Baker wasn't there, so the clerk took my order. I specifically told him I wanted the smallest cake they had, even if that meant changing the decorations, and I wanted a price quote. He estimated $55 but insured me the Baker would call me about the size and price. I never received the call, and they made the cake. It was $65 for a 1/4 sheet, which is the same price I paid for a half sheet earlier this year. I would have asked for alternative options had I known or just went to a different bakery. After making this known to the Baker on staff upon pick up, all they did was apologize and explain that that's to be expected from the employer that took my order. Who they choose to hire should not be my problem, but it was this day, I guess. I was expecting a discount or something for their mistake and got nothing. I had a gift card I received for being overcharged on the last cake I bought. When I told the Baker about it, her exact response was, " Well, there's that." No doing anything to try and make it right. There are too many other bakeries in town for anyone to have to put up with this. read more

Yum! I was so excited to finally find this bakery. They had a location in Radcliff that closed and nowhere could I find this locations information. Finally someone showed me the companies Facebook page and just my luck it was $2 Tuesday for cupcakes. I got quite a few cupcake flavors for us to try & let me assure you they were all phenomenal. The moisture was there, the taste and the size was perfect. There were 8 flavors available when I went in around 2PM & several spots were empty that had already sold out. They have cakes, brownies, ice cream, tea, soda, bottled water and cookies. I gifted some cupcakes and cookies and they received rave reviews as well for taste and texture. This will definitely be my go to spot in Elizabethtown. The shop is around the back of the plaza and there is ample parking. There is also a separate seating area off to the side they a doorway. read more

I've gotten several cakes from here. Half were good with nice frosting. Half were so dry with dry frosting that I threw them away. $40 for a cake. I bought through the 3 years, 4 cakes. The last one again was so dry. I read the other review of the woman with dry cakes & she called the owner & the owner refused to do anything about it so I decided not to waste my time calling and I'm just not going back. They got $160 from me, they won't get a penny more. I'll drive to Louisville Publix for a fantastic cake next time. read more

I had my firstborn's college graduation 2-tier cake made a few weeks ago. A very nice job done by Sweet Retreat team however the cake was kind of stale. Only the cupcakes which were gluten-free for two family members at the party, were delicious and fresh. They said it was very good! 5 stars for their best cupcakes. read more

Quality and tastes of cakes/icing have drastically went downhill. They have switched the recipe of the icing and it is horrible. I spent $40 on a 4th of July cake and hardly ate any of it. We bought a box of assorted cupcakes last month. They were both beautiful and delicious. My only negative comment is that I gained 5 pounds trying to decide which one I liked best! The customer service is absolutely terrible. We scheduled a cake tasting for our wedding and apparently they do not call to confirm your appointment and then when I told them that we were expecting that because it had slipped our mind, the OWNER proceeded to raising her voice to me on the phone and hanging up on me without letting me finish a sentence and still proceeded to charging us the fee even though we canceled. read more
