Unfortunately, we found the visit quite underwhelming. The space itself is very basic, with limited exhibits and minimal interactivity. Much of what was on display felt dated and sparse, and it did not hold our attention for long. For a destination marketed as a hands-on discovery center, we expected a more immersive and thoughtfully curated experience. While this may be suitable for a very brief stop or for locals looking for something close by, it did not feel worth the drive for us as visitors. Overall, the experience did not align with the expectations set by the website, and we left feeling disappointed.

Military Museum [Frederick MD]…read more We had some time on our last day in MD before heading to the airport... from Linthicum Heights we drove some 50 miles to Frederick. We found a spot on a metered street parking in front of the museum. Admission is $9.50/adult. The museum is dedicated to telling the medical story of the Civil War. There are a lot to see... and learn. The exhibits were great and educational. We learned how the creation of Civil War medicine impacted the present day. Each gallery offered different exhibits following through the footsteps of the soldiers and surgeons and the harsh conditions and personal sacrifices they went through. I can't even imagine how they evacuate the wounded... an "ambulance" then was a wagon pulled by two horses and carted off to a medical facility. Or how about how they did amputations, amputations were the most common surgical operation during the conflict with more than 60,000 being performed. The wounded soldiers suffered different mortality rates depending on where the amputation took place on the body. There are two floors of exhibits. Stairs and an elevator are accessible to the top floor. There are bathrooms on both levels. I am not in the medical field and found the museum very interesting and educational. Gathland State Park is accessible from RT 67 and also RT 17 ( Burkittsville), and is of great historical significance during the Civil War as it was a gap in the ride held by the Confederates to delay the Union advance prior to the battle of Antietam. Just be careful, due to numerous cyclist and walkers. We strolled past Canal Lock 52 to the Tonoloway Creek Aqueduct. It was amazing to see the thick rock facing of the cliff area and you can see the rocks in the river bottom. Free to enjoy this lovely historical location. Plenty of walking and signage to read and learn about the past. The aqueduct truly is a piece of Artwork!!! If in the area check it out!!!

To start, the farm has an absolutely huge property it sits on with lots of different activities - a barn, a jumping pad, etc. We have had a one and a two year old at these events, and I do think this location is better suited for an older child. There is A LOT of walking in between these activities that is hard for a very little one. The terrain is up and down with paths that have large puddles and dents in the mud, so also not suitable for a stroller or wagon. There's a large dead space between parking and the first bit of activities, which I wish they would do something with personally. Next, the value of the ticket. The ticket prices can be steep, but you can shave some money off with discount codes and buying before you go. Again, I think with an older child and buying a discounted ticket, it is worth it. We did not get pumpkins in the fall, but we did get flowers in the summer and they were absolutely gorgeous. We had a great time picking them and the staff is so friendly. Last wish item I have for this place is food! They really only have drinks and popcorn (at least when we have been there).

I don't particularly like this area because it's always so many bees and also slim picking depending on when you go. Beyond that they have several activities for kids to do and you could stay for hours with different photo ops, the petting zoo, the big bounce area, the zip line, tug of war, the goat race and many more. They even have fireworks on select nights. The place is pretty big and we can never finish everything in one day because it's a lot of walking lol. Nevertheless it's well worth the money , customer service is good, and it is a lot to do. I would recommend taking better care of the petting zoo because it really wasn't kept as well as I would've liked it to be. Side note: There was an incident in which an elderly woman fell while I was there. I would like to commend the staff for how much care and support they gave her to make sure she was OK.
