I have had my pontoon boat stored inside and serviced by Haines Marine since I purchased it in 2014. This year when I received the boat back it smelled like moth balls which I told them I did not want used. All of the dryer sheets and Irish spring soap shavings that were throughout the boat were put in a single plastic bag and stored in a single plastic bag in one compartmen. Added to that. I had the engine serviced , winterized. oil and oil filter changed and when I received the boat back it is running rough at high speed. They want to charge me another $250 round trip hauling charge to just look at the boat. When I complained he offered no other solution and when I told him he lost my business, he said he would just give my storage spot to someone else! Something has changed with this Marina and it is disappointing and not the same quality of service that they used to be noted for. read more

We bought a brand new boat from here two years ago. John went above and beyond to sell it to us. Talked us into the motor we got against my better judgment I listened. It has only been two years and we got water in our oil. We call and tell them the issue and ask if we need to take it to a honda dealer since it's under warranty. John says yes. So we drive 3 hours to drop it off. Three days later it's done. Can't find anything wrong with it. Changed the oil. Charged us $221 because water in the oil isn't covered under the warranty. Of course he could've said that on the phone and we could've taken it local for an oil change. We get a "hopefully it's okay now". Well if it isn't we sure aren't taking it back there. I have purchased a boat and two motors from this place in the past and the service was mediocre at best. I wanted to purchase a new Lund boat from them (I support local businesses) but they did not have the boat I wanted and it was going to take a year to get it so I purchased it from a Lund dealer from out of state that had one in stock. My new boat needed warranty work so I took it to Haines Marine because they are local. The guy that helped me was rude and condescending and really didn't want to look at it because I didn't buy it there. After explaining to him that I had purchased a boat there before, why I had to buy my new boat at a different dealer and that I read the warranty and I know the work is covered, he agreed to take pictures and send them to Lund. He said he would get back with me in a week or two. After 6 weeks with no call, I called them and the lady told me she would have them call me. It has been over 6 more weeks and I still haven't heard anything. Don't waste your time with this place. I won't be back to Haines Marine for anything. I will go out of my way now to shop elsewhere rather than deal with Haines Marine again. I would give them a negative rating if I could. read more

Took my "64 "Sea Ray to Haines Marine Service Late Summer to have it completely gone over including the "64"Johnson 75hp. Sea Horse. It was my uncle's boat and I received it after his passing. They had it for about a month and half and nothing was done with it, which I was fine with. After a discussion with Dave the owner we agreed I would bring it back in the spring, his suggestion. When I took the boat back in the spring I was told by Dave that the boat and motor were to old and they don't work on the old stuff. I reminded him of our agreement and he said he remembered and no is no. He was rude, belligerent and VERY unprofessional. I am so disappointed I had an issue with my outboard motor and Haines Marine Service Was Recommended to me by two friends that have bought boats from them and said that they were the one they would take any motor issue to. I took their advice and drove the hour to them even tho there is a marine service less than 1 mile from where I live. when I arrived I went inside and waited for someone to assist me The lady behind the counter made me feel as tho I was bothering her by being there ( that should of been the first sign to leave but we all have bad days) I showed her the part that had come off from inside the cover and asked if they could look at the motor and give me an estment on the repair. We filled out paperwork and she instructed me to pull around back and drop off the motor there. I did as she said when I went back I had to look for someone to tell me where they wanted the motor a young man came to my car and removed the motor and took it inside the shop. Three days later I received a call from someone at Hains and he said that the repair was done but they recommend a carburetor kit because it was still running ruff. I asked what happened to I was supposed to be called before any repair was done with a estement I was told that there was no mention of it on the work order. Ok now the rest I blame on myself I told the to go ahead and take care of the carburetor problem he did tell me how much more it would be with the carburetor fix. When I picked it up I mentioned again about not being contacted before work was done the response was well it was on the work order maybe we should high light in the future.At that point I wanted to get out of there before I blew my top so off to the back to get my motor where I stood in the doorway only to be ignored, when I said could someone help me I'm here to get my 15 horse johnson motor the response was did you go up front and pay. I told him yes I did, now the motor was on a rack three down from the door he said let me find it that is when I pointed the motor out to him. I am thinking it was the only 15 horse johnson on the rack, I was counting backward at this point. They loaded the motor in my car there was oil all over the shaft which tells me they test in a barrel not sure but I was told never run your motor in a barrel use muffs, it could cause a problem with the impeller because it would be sucking in a heavy oil water mix. I would think that they could have at least cleaned the shaft it was clean when it was brought in. I also seen there were two more additional items that were done without my approval. My advice is take your repair jobs somewhere else, where they know how to take care of the customer. I will never go back there again, even to buy a nut. read more

Hello, I am not the type to badmouth a business because I have one of my own. But I have never been treated so rudely before in my life then Haines Marine. I made a major purchase from Haines Marine on a repair to my boat. When after only a very short time there was an issue with my repairs, I was told They don't have time to deal with me.
