Jennifer Piña is a GOD with hair. I am a busy, professional (trial attorney) who does not have a lot of trust in stylists. I've had my fair share of "eh" color jobs, cuts and blow outs. Jennifer and her stylists are wonderful. I have had a series of prestigious business events and last minute TV appearances as a legal commentator, and my hair looks magazine/TV ready when I leave the salon. I have brown hair that always throws to a red tone when colored! Jennifer knows exactly how to match my root color and not make it pull towards that reddish hue. Her cuts are fantastic because she knows how to deal with the multiple textures found on my head. (Straight in front and frizzy and wavy in back!) I love this place! I'm very picky when it comes to my hair, and a lot of salons fuss about having to cut and color my hair since it's so thick. I was referred to check out this salon. Mind you, I live in Union - but I was certainly pleased with my experience and will come back for sure! First off, the appearance. (Also, it was really easy to find the salon.) The space is so open, I love how they laid everything out. It was also really clean, unlike a lot of salons I have gone to (sadly), so that was refreshing to see. They also have a section where you can browse and buy some of the products they use on you. Second, the experience. I came on a fairly slow night - which to me gave a really comfortable experience! The hairstylists are situated in the middle of the salon. Think one large table with multiple chairs; to me, it felt like it almost brings the community together. Call me cheesy, but I'm telling you, it adds to the friendly vibe. Anyway, since it was a slow night, some of the stylists sat by me as I got my hair cut and it felt like girlfriends getting together. They really make you comfortable, which is big for me because I've dealt with a lot of stylists who made small talk unbearable. Third, my haircut. I was very happy with my haircut! Not only did my stylist give me exactly what I asked for, but she the rest of the team also offered their two cents when it came to styling (obviously it's their job!). The price was very fair for a cut and blow out, considering how long my hair is. And they really try their best to give you what you ask for. Overall, I was very happy with the experience. Jennifer cut my hair a few weeks ago and I had the best salon experience since moving to NJ 8 years ago! I brought a photo reference and she made it work for my hair. Great conversation, lovely people working (they all seemed happy to be there), and wonderful cut. I'll be back! Also, the entrance is on the outside of the mall, between Sears and Macy's, in that corner mall entrance (well, on the right side of that entrance). I hope that makes sense! Upon inquiry, the front desk lady told me to walk around the mall because the appointment before me came In late so now all of the clients will get pushed back. This place was the answer to all my hair and makeup prayers. Let me preface with I'm very picky, especially with my hair, because I've always had curly unmanageable hair (until I found this place). I walked in with dry, dull, damaged hair and 7 inches of roots (I was worried that coloring would make things worse). After a few visits over a month I had beautiful color with highlights and the smoothest/healthiest hair I've ever had in my ENTIRE life. I had my color and highlights done by Devon with olaplex to protect my hair 3 weeks before my wedding. I went in the night before my wedding to get my hair blown out and had an additional olaplex treatment. Then the morning after my wedding Primo did my brazilian keratin blowout because I didn't want to worry about frizz and curls on my honeymoon and my hair has never looked or felt so amazing. Jennifer did my hair on my actual wedding day and I looked like a princess...even better. As for makeup, I went through 5 makeup studios for wedding day trials and no one came close to what they did here. I looked glamorous without looking like I had pounds of caked on makeup. I originally had my makeup done by Jennifer during a trial and it was like she was sent to me from heaven. When I came in the night before my wedding for a final trial I had my makeup done by a different girl who's name I can't remember and I feel so bad!! I remember it started with a "V" and she was really pretty. She ended up doing an amazing job and Jennifer suggested bringing her for the morning of the wedding so that things would be more efficient and I would get to sleep in. It all worked out perfectly and I'm never letting any other salon touch my hair ever again. They love what they do here and it shows, and they really know what they're doing. read more

Kelly did a great job coloring my hair. She is very personable and professional. She definitely knows her stuff! I will definitely go back to her to have my hair colored again as well as have her cut my hair. The salon is ironing out some kinks like scheduling and timeliness. With my hair stylist relocating to NYC, I had a hard time findings a stylist in my area that can give me a good haircut. I first came across the salon when I needed a simple blowout for my holiday party and my stylist Primo did an amazing job and the blowout even lasted a few days. Happy with my results I decided to give him a try for a hair glaze and cut and he was so good that 2 months later I am still shocked at how good my hair looks. I wanted natural looking layers with lots of volume and he was able to use all his fancy techniques to give me exactly what I was looking for. Ibrahim aka Primo stylist did an amazing job on my hair. I recommend him 100%!!. I came to 2 days ago with a messed up hair done from Plaza Salon at rt 4(DO NOT GO THERE EVER) they didn't even do a balagaye on me more like highlights with no color. The next day I called this salon and they took me in and fixed my hair. Primo is patient and listens to you and gives so much education on how to treat your hair. I usually don't take the time to write reviews unless an experience really calls for it and in this case, I believe it does. I had been with my previous stylist/colorist for about 15 years, but as I was getting more adventurous with my color, I realized he either didn't have the time or didn't want to take the time to put in the work it requires. So- I thought it was time to find someone new. Matt came highly recommended by an acquaintance so I called up the salon and set up a consultation because I needed a major color correction. When I first arrived at the salon, I was pleasantly surprised at how cute it was. Very mod, with neon green stations and sequin accent walls. Matt was really nice, seemed genuinely excited to have a fun hair project to do, did a test piece in my hair to see how it would take the bleach and took the time to go over the price breakdown of all the steps he thought would be necessary to get me where I wanted to go. It was a Friday night and we set up my first appointment for Sunday morning and another appointment for the following Sunday with the foresight that it was, more likely than not, going to take two sessions to make a complete transformation. Upon arriving to my first appointment, everyone was so nice- and another colorist, Noelle, even offered to make a Starbucks run for me while Matt got started on my hair. He started with a low volume bleach and foiled my whole head then went back in and blended up each section by hand because I didn't want a harsh root line. Then he used a color corrector to help fix a band of dark brown I had from a previous shadow root touch up. Then Jasmine picked us up some lunch from California Pizza Kitchen next door and we took a break to fill our bellies. Then Matt got right back to work toning my hair and gave me a beautiful blow out. And even though my hair was only halfway to where I wanted it, Matt made sure it looked good to last me through the week to my next appointment. Today was my follow up appointment and I was running a few minutes late so I texted Matt to let him know and he took my Starbucks order and had it waiting for me when I arrived. He expertly hand-painted highlights to abolish any patchiness left over from my previous color (once and for all) and toned me to a beautiful sterling silver. Then he added in the lavender and got my hair damn-near identical to the photo I had shown him. It was a big job and I have long hair (and a lot of it)- so while the whole process wasn't exactly easy on the pockets, I completely understand why, as it was quite labor intensive- but in comparison, I think the salon's prices are VERY reasonable compared with other trendy salons. Matt also did a great job using Olaplex and taking care of my hair. I have absolutely no visible breakage or split ends (and I didn't even get a trim!) and I swear my hair feels softer now than when I went in! The proof is in the pudding. The trim I got was ok, but after having water sprayed inside my ear three times as my hair was washed, and smacked in the forehead with the dryer handle while my hair was being dried, after being charged additional for blow dry which is a ridiculous trend, who's walking out with wet hair? (Since I had a 2:15 makeup appointment at Mac) Arrived and was told Nick (who I made the appointment with) made it for 2:45, so I was late but they'd take me anyway while doing other customers. After an hour for a few curls with 2 pieces braided back on a 13 year old, I go to pay and I'm told $75. After I specifically asked Nick on the phone how much for that style and he said starting at $20, no more than $40. When I told the lady, her only answer was she'd speak to him about it. I waited for 20 minutes and when I asked her what was going on she said the stylist was running late. She was on the phone while applying color to her clients hair. I got up to leave and she rudely asked me if I was going to wait. I told her absolutely not and left. I will never try to make another appointment again. I went in for a 20$ haircut the lady took an upwards of 1 and a half hours. The hair came out looking fine however when I went to pay the cashier tried to charge me 60 dollars because of a blow-dry I didn't even ask for and was only to blow off the hair she had cut. When explaining this to the Cashier she lowered it to 45 for a 20 dollar haircut. Only after my daughter intervened did the manager drop it to 25. Would be very weary about going back, I for one don't want to lose my money. read more

Did not get the balayage treatment I wanted. I was asked to sit at the waiting area where I was left unattended for 45 minutes. When I checked to see how much longer I had to wait, I was told someone was coming right away. But I had to wait some more so I left after an hour. A nice lady tried to stop me by offering to buy me coffee along with a treatment. However, I'm not having a good day and have errands to run so, I just declined and left anyway. Would've been great to be told how long I had to wait so, I could've walked in the mall or done other things and just come back. That's all. read more

The worse hair salon I've ever been. They are definitely unprofessional. They tell that they have level hair stylists but they never ask you which stylist you want. It doesn't matter what level hair stylist you get or it doesn't matter that you have long hair or short hair, because, in the end, they definitely charge you the highest price. This is ridiculous. Very bad business. My friends went there for a blowout. Even they couldn't make a blowout but charged them the double price. When my friends asked them why that price was too high, they didn't care, just told this was the price. One blowout cost $75 for short hair. Even it didn't look like my friends had a blowout. Additionally, I wanted to have a waterfall braid. A lady who took care of my hair (according to herself; she is professional, the highest level stylist) tried to do the braid several times but she couldn't do that although I showed her a picture of the waterfall braid then she wanted some help from the other stylist. Unfortunately, 2 professional stylists couldn't do one braid. Finally, I got my braid which was not a waterfall but three strand was very basic one. It was so disappointing to go there for nothing but double charging, wasting your time and treating very badly. A business should not be like this and not treat their customer rudely. This place is great. I called the same morning and asked to have a blowout by anyone since I was new I didn't really know who to ask for. I got jasmine and wow did she give me a niceeeee ass blowout. I love it. It still looks great the next day! Plus since it was my first time I got 20% off for checking in. Everyone seemed super happy to be there as well plus the salon looked super modern. 5 stars from me. I'll definitely be back. I can't say enough about this place. It's hip, it's clean and the staff are great! They are so accommodating and the you can't beat the hours-I was lucky enough to have the owner do my hair, but I was definitely there long enough to watch the other Stylists and they all know what they are doing! Jenny started off my getting all the orange out of my hair that got gotten there from the sun and then got it to the nice, rich, chocolate color that I wanted and then gave me beautiful, long extensions. Her suggestions for what color extension to add was right on point. I've been getting compliments left and right! They're affordable, they take walk-ins, and they're open Everyday!! I made an appointment to get my make up done before my newborn family photoshoot at 10 AM. The store opened 5 minutes late. After waiting another 15 minutes, the woman who opened the store (Candy) informed me that she couldn't get in touch with the make up artist who was now 15 mins late. The woman recommended I head to the Chanel counter of Bloomingdales and told me to tell them that Candy sent me and that anyone there would do a great job. She made it seem like she had spoken to someone there, and yet when I arrived the girl behind the counter told me she could not do my makeup at that time. Luckily I found a great girl named Karen at the MAC store who did a great job. I was angry at how unprofessionally this facility was when I had scheduled this appointment well in advance and that the woman who was scheduled to do my make up never showed. I also requested a phone call from the owner and left my number with Candy, and I'm still waiting for my call two days later. I am truest shocked that this place is still on business. Will never come here again! I was a loyal customer of six if not more (x) of years. I wanted to go more blond. I've agreed to do it in two process in which I paid $340 for each session, not only was I there all day but the job wasn't done. The price did not concern me( when caring for skin or hair there is not set price I won't pay) considering the job gets done. Not only did I not get the color I paid for but they left the bleaching process too long. When they washed my hair out and began to blow out my hair I was able to see how damaged it had become. If my hair could not have taken any more bleach, as professionals they should have told me. Now , Not only am I not satisfied with the color but it's until I get home I notice that a massive chunk of hair at the center of head had broken off. I've always been a very easy person, but what upsets me was they hid it and never told me. We all make mistakes, it could have happened to anyone but they chose to keep it a secret. I had my hair and makeup done from here for prom. I had very high hopes because my friend had gotten her hair and makeup done from here for her prom as well and it turned out great. The thing I was worried about the most was the makeup, because I didn't want to look too light or dark. I asked the manager to make my appointment with the same lady that did my friend's makeup and everything was fine. They called me a few days before my appointment and said that the lady is now unavailable and someone else who is equally as qualified will do my makeup. On the day of my prom, I had my hair done wonderfully. However, my makeup was a disaster. I specifically brought my own foundation that matches my skin color. I don't understand how she managed to make my face so dark even after I brought my own foundation. I looked at least 3 shades darker than my skin. The makeup also took much longer than they had promised. Because I was getting late, I could not even express my disappointment and anger. Very unprofessional!! I scheduled an appointment for a makeup application and they cancelled it out without notifying me first because they had a wedding which of course is more money to them. The owner then played it off saying they did put me on the schedule but for a "hair appointment instead" and no makeup artist was available. Subsequently she made me come to the salon claiming she would do my makeup herself. First of all, she's not a makeup artist she does hair only, second of all I get there, wait for 30 minutes and she comes to me saying she still has another person's hair to do and "why don't you try Sephora?" Really lady?!!!!!!!! It was a Saturday night!!! Also, it was this past Saturday 12/16 when most people had their holiday party!!! Was she kidding me!! No one had an appointment I called multiple places!!!! Not did I only wasted my time at the salon I also run through Willowbrook's mall entire parking lot to be able to make it there on time, I also looked for parking for about 20 minutes because on this holiday weekend of course the mall is packed. I can't believe Jennifer the owner made me go there for nothing and had the nerve to tell me to go to Sephora instead. I get it now, you have enough clientele now that you feel the right to turn away one of your most loyal costumers!!! I even referred people to her!!! I was 2 hours late to my party and had makeup application done at Channel last minute for $120 which turned out looking horrible plus they don't do lash applications!!! THANKS FOR RUINING MY PARTY HAIR AND MAKEUP LOUNGE!!!
