Every time I went to layers salon, I felt like I was visiting friends. I even brought my toddler with me a few times and even though he was a little rambunctious, everyone welcomed him with open arms. I trust her opinion a lot- for good reason!! First and foremost their work is beautiful. They are highly skilled artists and worked literal magic with my hair and face. I did a trial before the big day with Krysten for hair and Cat for make up. I liked them so much I started going there for regular haircuts, too. So I'm on the shy side- but their caring, kind, yet honest approach ensured that I got exactly the kind of look I wanted! Instead of asking broad yes or no questions like "do you like this" or "what do you want," they had more targeted, specific questions (i.e. "for this portion of the eye do you want to go darker or lighter? Add a shimmer/less shimmer?"). This might seem like a small thing but it was actually EVERYTHING. Because this gave me the safe space to make decisions based on the vision in my head, all while using their professional expertise to get there. Throughout everything, I felt like they really were happy to be there with me. They were so welcoming and friendly, I felt right at home. This feeling was tenfold on the day of the wedding! I had 6 bridesmaids, my grandmother, mother, mother-in-law, and two year old niece all getting hair and make up in addition to myself. All the women I hold near and dear to my heart- I had such peace of mind knowing they were in the good care of the Brugatto hair and make up crew. It was a completely chill girls hangout the morning of my wedding. The artists managed the widely varying hair styles, make up preferences, and personalities of my group like they were family. Their energy exactly matched us to ensure the vibe was right that morning (another seemingly small thing but just another wonderful observation I wanted to share). Long story short Everyone felt so comfortable, I got so many compliments from my bridal party about their positive experience with the Brugatto team. And oh my goodness DID WE LOOK GOOOOD !!!! Other things of note- my make up and hair lasted ALL. DAY. My last picture of the night looked just as polished as my first (and yes I went really hard on the dance floor lol). The artists were really good with timing, scheduling, things of that nature. They worked with us on our day-of timeline and made sure we had everyone ready exactly when we needed to be. I had my trial the same day as my second engagement shoot. Due to having to post pone my wedding a whole year because of COVID, I had to find a new MUA. Leia did an amazing job and did exactly what I asked for. I ended up having my hair styled by Krysten because logistically it was easier than driving back and forth for makeup and hair since I live almost 40 mins away from Pompton Plains. Krysten did a beautiful job of styling my hair with curls and giving me a simple braid in the back to keep my hair away from my face. I ended up coming back last week to get my makeup done and my hair curled for my birthday and they did an amazing job again. These ladies are truly the best at hyping you up and making you feel beautiful. Even when I first met them they were super welcoming and it never felt awkward. The salon itself is GORGEOUS. The decor is so nice and you can tell that everything is brand new. They sell a bunch of hair products and random cute gifts. I ended up buying these adorable macaron candles that I gifted myself for my birthday. I'd highly recommend anyone to give this salon a try. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the best part. She was excellent! She gave me exactly what I wanted and was very cool and patient. The second time I got my haircut by Sue, this was a very polar experience. I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted and asked just the top of my head to resemble the style and my sides to be an even shave. She ignored this and before I could say anything else she began chipping away from the top to make a fade which I really did not want. She was also not gentle whatsoever. She then continued to talk over me, run to take a call, run back, take a hunk out of my hair, and when all was said and done she used a gel that immediately flaked up. The gel could absolutely just not be compatible with my hair type but it just felt all a little unprofessional. I'm not going back, and if you're getting a cut that involves shaving, I don't recommend you go in either.
