She goes to conferences to meet and learn from other hair stylists, and is committed to her clients' best interests. She's worth every penny. When you book an appointment, you'll be her only client and have her full attention. She listens to what you want, is up front and honest about what will look good and what won't, but is also willing to work with you to get you to your hair goals. That's why I keep going back to her. I had a bad haircut a year ago from another stylist, but by visiting Kelly every few months for a cut, we've been able to gradually fix it without sacrificing too much length. She's patient. I'm sure I've asked her a ton of questions on the differences between ombré, highlights, choosing colors, etc. She'll listen and walk you through the pros and cons to help you decide what direction you want to take your hair in. Booking appointments with her online is so easy. It's so much better than calling a salon and having to wait for an assistant to flip through pages to find what their next availability is. You can also just text her! Not only do you leave her salon with baby soft hair - she's 100% transparent about what products she uses, and provides honest feedback and recommendations on what to use at home. Since it's her own salon, she purchases her favorite brands of products, and doesn't skimp on quality. I've had other stylists recommend expensive shampoos and conditioners to me - but I always felt like they were just pitching a sale. Kelly is the first stylist who I've trusted as much as I do, and follow her directions for maintaining my hair at home. One of my favorite products she's recommended to me is the Truss Miracle hair mask. Visiting her is a great experience, and you can absolutely trust her with your hair! I had soooo many questions for her ranging from how often to wash my hair, how to improve my hair health, if it's ok to blow dry it etc... Things that you'd think are "silly" questions. Things I would have NEVER asked other hair stylists, but she was so connected to answering all of my questions and putting my hair health first, it put me at ease to feel comfortable to ask anything that came to mind! Also, from my "Before" picture, you will see I did a number on my hair prior to seeing Lyss. I was bleaching at home and frying my hair off my head! I contacted Lyss asking to go platinum blonde. She first met with me for a consultation and took the time to explain the condition of my hair and shared what services would be safe for me to do. I had previously consulted with another stylist who left me extremely confused about what to do with my hair, how much it would cost, what the end result with. On the contrary, Lyss was clear and direct. She educated me, told me what was realistic, how she'd do it, and exactly what it would cost. My experience with Lyss was professional and friendly. She is detail-oriented (as an understatement) and a perfectionist, something you really want when it comes to your hair. She made me feel comfortable and gave me the individual attention you will never find in a big salon. In addition, because of the way her one-on-one salon is set up, it's just the two of you in the room. It puts me at ease during this pandemic to not be exposed to many people. She was very cautious when it came to the safety and cleanliness of our space. As a healthcare professional, I felt completely at ease the entire experience. At the beginning she asked if I wanted lashes, and I agreed. Towards the end of my appointment, she handed me the mirror to check on my makeup. I pointed out a few things, which she fixed and at that point, I was happy. When I went to pay, my artist mentioned to the person at the desk the lashes. And when they stated the price, it was $20 higher than I was originally anticipating per the pricing online. They asked if I wanted a receipt, I said yes to check it but they only handed me the credit card slip. I asked for the itemized receipt and the lashes were an extra $20. At no point did the makeup artist mention the up charge and I was a little taken aback. A friend of mine came in after and I mentioned the lashes to her and she opted out of them. I was frustrated as I literally had lashes in my purse while sitting in the makeup chair. I wish I had the option to pay the extra fee instead of not being warned. I mentioned I didn't get my makeup done often so this wasn't something I was expecting and it wasn't listed on their website that lashes were extra when booking. I was really disappointed as I felt like it was done secretive instead of being open with clients.
