I had called a few other salons in the area for an appt first and their manner on the phone was rude, layers wasnt. They were kind and accommodating. Every time I went to layers salon, I felt like I was visiting friends. I even brought my toddler with me a few times and even though he was a little rambunctious, everyone welcomed him with open arms. When I first started getting my hair done at Layers, I had a bob, then eventually decided on a pixie cut. My desires for my hair were always heard and cuts executed amazingly. She was excellent! She gave me exactly what I wanted and was very cool and patient. The second time I got my haircut by Sue, this was a very polar experience. I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted and asked just the top of my head to resemble the style and my sides to be an even shave. She ignored this and before I could say anything else she began chipping away from the top to make a fade which I really did not want. She was also not gentle whatsoever. She then continued to talk over me, run to take a call, run back, take a hunk out of my hair, and when all was said and done she used a gel that immediately flaked up. The gel could absolutely just not be compatible with my hair type but it just felt all a little unprofessional. I'm not going back, and if you're getting a cut that involves shaving, I don't recommend you go in either.

I stopped in on a Monday around 5 p.m. with my 3-year-old and 5 year old but only my younger son needed a very basic haircut--just the sides cleaned up. The establishment was completely empty. An older man and woman were sitting in their chairs scrolling on their phones. When I explained what I needed, the gentleman at least got up to check whether they could take my son. While he was checking the system, the older woman repeatedly insisted that I needed an appointment and seemed visibly annoyed that I had walked in. At one point, she said she would need to use clippers, which would have been fine if her tone wasn't completely annoyed by having to accommodate a toddler. The whole interaction was unnecessarily uncomfortable and confusing, especially given that there were no other customers there. What really stood out was that shortly afterward, a white family walked in and was taken immediately. At that point, I decided to leave. I won't speculate about their intentions, but as a customer, I know how the interaction made me feel. Customer service should be welcoming and respectful to everyone who walks through the door. You truly never know who is walking in, what business they may bring, or who they may refer. It's disappointing because this could have been a simple haircut and a positive first experience. Instead, my boys and I left feeling unwelcome.

Disputed the charge with my bank which is now an unnecessary long process because this place couldn't take 5 minutes to make it right.

I Went there for a dry hair style (curls) for an occasion where we were taking pictures. I have A LOT A LOT of hair. Like every hair stylist/ hair cutter has commented on how much hair and volume I have. Not more than 45 min after my appointment I left looking greasy (it's very hard for that to even happen to me, but I guess the products they use look greasy) And my curls were gone, my hair looked stringy and flat. Not sure what tools they use but they aren't professional I couldn't even believe how flat and gross it looked (it looked dirty). I was there for an hour and a half, and mind you I went in with dry hair not wet. I had to completely start over to fix it. I called them back 3 days ago. The manager there, Karina felt that I wasn't worth her time to get back to me. She left me an initial voicemail and told me she was free to talk to me all day Friday and every time I called the front desk girls would say oh she'll call you at this time and then she never would. I also asked for them to get her so that we could speak for 1-2 minutes. She refused because she was "too busy." I finally got a call back from a manager at another location From Eileen. I asked them for a refund since what they did to my hair was atrocious. They keep giving me the run around and even asked me to come back another time ( NO THANK YOU! ). Has anyone else had an experience like this there? I just can't believe how disrespectful they are there and also how awful my hair looked. Spread the word so this doesn't happen to you. I even went to look at reviews and I'm not the only one this had happened to. Looked like 10 other women had just around the same experience as mine. With how expensive things are these days I feel that it's unacceptable. Also kindness go ways further than rudeness. Eileen called me back with a very fake nice persona telling me that I won't be getting a refund and that I can come in and they will do my hair again. HA! no thanks! I don't think I will be ever wasting my time at that place ever again. Spare yourself! Go somewhere else!
