I'm a 16 year old who lives barely 10 minutes away from AJ Design. The place had previously been recommended to me many times. Despite the positive feedback it regularly got from friends of mine, I always chose to go to my local barbers instead; 30 seconds from my house. Why? I was aware of the very much frowned-upon pricey charge for a haircut, which, for someone who gets a standard '5 at the top, 1 on the side and back' haircut, just didn't seem necessary. Admittedly, it seemed a tad expensive to me, considering my local barbers charge £5 for a haircut. The first thing I noticed about the place was how clean it was, and the asthetically pleasing design of it. To me this was unusual; everything I saw and experienced in AJ designed conflicted with my experiences at my local barbers. There was undoubtedly a significant difference. During my haircut, AJ himself made friendly conversation with me and was conversational, as oppose to my local barbers who can barely speak English. The man cutting my hair, whom of which I didn't catch the name of, was very friendly and professional too. Not only does the place look good, but the atmosphere is very pleasing and the treatment from staff was second to none. Even after just one visit, I recognised the mentality which circulates around the staff at AJ Design, and that is to treat customers like friends, by putting them first and giving them quality service. That's exactly what they did. More importantly, the quality of my haircut was top notch. The blends were accurate, and they do exactly what you intended your hair to look like, if not better. As for the price, I now have the belief that £8 for a haircut here is money well spent. This will be argued against by many, but given the Loyalty Card system and the inevitable quality service, it is well and truly worth it. Overall, AJ Design was nothing short of impressive and exceeded its expectations massively in every department; how it looks, friendliness of staff and quality of service. What more could you ask for? Personally, I will be recommending it to friends and family. I've been to many barbers, but I honestly feel that none can compare to AJ Design's standards. In hindsight, I should have given this place a chance a long time ago, but I will be going there for my future haircuts and I hope more people recognise the genuine quality of the place, simply because that's what it deserves. read more

AJ Himself is very welcoming probably because its his money and he likes to do what he is doing.But there is another guy slim i dun know his name.Normally he is wearing Ed Hardy caps My Days he is so rudee.u cant even imagine last time when i went there i entered shop at 6 and I was waiting till 6:50 i swear em not lieing.. and this guy because he didnt wnat to do anymore haircute because it was there closing time he took ages on that guy who was sitting on his chair . then one female employee offered me a haircut and i apologized that I will get it from one of the male this guy turned around and said you wont get seat with me and I said ok fine what about the other guy n he said i dun knw u have to ask him we are closed now. I mean if you guys dun wana do just tell me when i entered that mat we are closed please come tomorrow. Hey there my name shrey I'm a 15 year old and go lister. I have been going to aj designs for a long time now probably since it opened. I think that aj designs are a lot different from other barbers. And have noticed that there is difference between what aj's deliver to what other barbers deliver, in aj's you don't just get a cut you get hospitality. Which other barbers don't give, I mean when was the last time that the barber actually remembered you and said hi to you outside of the shop. Another thing I would have to say is how people are saying that aj's is expensive but the only charge another £2 more and to think your getting a better service and a better atmosphere, I think that should have made up for the £2. But what aj's does is that they give you arrange of offers but the best one for us teen who think that they're expensive would be the loyalty card on the 6th hair cut its half price so inn the long term its like your paying the same amount you would pay in any other shops. so its not really expensive and at the end of the day you do get a lot more then what you're actually paying for. read more

As a student I think that Aj design is a honest good and respected salon appreciated but the local audience and the retain of the salon. The reason for my rating is that this business in particular is a company that cares for their customers as well as the business overall. They are a business that also has acknowledge all the laws and rules that a hair salon is provided wuth which is a bonus because it shows that the manager has research and studied that different laws of the company and has informed his employees and have put the rules into practise in order to satisfy the government, the business and the customers and I bekieve that if this hair salon continues with this manner it will gradually grow into a multinational company because it is well deserved. read more

I've been going to AJ's since it first opened. There is no better hair stylist in the area as good as they are. AJ team are so experienced in making my hair look awesome that i am always getting compliments from people. AJ cuts hair to perfection without a bother. The shop itself is very welcoming and contemporary, you can always find lots of special offers and premium hair products cheaper than the shops. After experiencing hair cut by Aj, no way can you go back to any standard barbers, It's definitely a cut above the rest and worth every penny. Aj design is my favourite place to get my hair cut i've known aj since very young and since he has opened his own salon I've gone there all the time in my eyes aj is far better then any salon even tony and guy and also my I Travel from bricklane with my brothers to get there hair cut as well so really I travel about 5 miles just to get my hair cut by him specifically also when we go there we can talk and have a joke with him my brothers love it when we go there coz they've known aj since they where born but as I said aj design defiantly a 5* hair dressers if I could put 10*s then I most defiantly would AJ DESIGN ALL THE WAY!!!!! read more

When you come to AJ's you always get more than what you're paying for. I have been coming to AJ's since it has opened which has probably been more than 4 years and I honestly have nothing to complain about. The staff are extremely friendly, entertaining and enjoy making conversation with customers. They see you more as a friend than a paying customer. I would also like to comment on the hygiene, I have never had any infections and have never heard anyone complain about the machinery being dirty etc. I have recommended AJ's to many friends previously and will continue to do so in the future. 10 out of 10 quality and service read more

I came to Aj D#sign with 1 of my mate who's a regular and ask how much for a shave & said £7 and it was a bit shock. But looking at the shop I thought lets give it a go as it was clean & tidy. I think it's worth more than £7 , as it was well presented , use Hot towel which I'm new too this treatment and took time to open pores then shave , which was very attentively & precision with great Quality. I have been coming to AJ Design Salon for a while, I am never disappointed. George is great has doing ladies hair. Also, I feel very comfortable as I am French and they speak French as well. I would recommend anyone to come and visit the Salon. AJ is a very friendly and professional person who will meet your needs. He is a perfectionist and it shows in his work. Well and truly recommend these guys; they do an ace job in not only cutting and styling hair but their hospitality too. They cut hair for both genders, and children too; my little nephews love their haircuts from AJ and George, we've been coming here since it has opened and visit on a regular basis. As a former employee and now customer I would recommend this salon. It has a laid back and friendly atmosphere that I haven't seen in any other salon and great staff that won't stop your service till you are happy. People might find it expensive compared to the £1.99 haircuts down the road but you don't get the same quality and friendly staff there.. a good haircut shouldn't be the same price as chicken and chips!!! read more
