The formally known "Red Pear" Salon was sold to an employee and the business changed names, prices, and business model. My wife and daughter went in today for haircuts. We always look forward to going to "Red Pear" when we're in town. But today was a different experience. We pulled up a few minutes after 9am to discover the new business name. I dropped off my wife and daughter and picked them up....20 minutes later. I asked about their experience and they told me about the new business model. After relatively quick haircuts they realized that the past experience of a personal, small-town salon feel, where the stylist takes his/her time to cut, style, and chat, was gone. Our top three favorite stylists are also gone now (Aaron, Vince, and Courtney) so we didn't feel bad saying goodbye. Aaron was the first to leave a couple years ago (who spend a lot of time and detail on us), then Courtney (who gave great head massages), followed by the recent departure of Vince (who was very personable and detailed in his craft). The prices have also been raised. The old Red Pear also used to be very generous to military personnel and their families, charging only $9 (before tip) per family member. Those prices are now $13/person (before tip) which isn't "expensive" but certainly reflects a change in mentality from the previous owner. I called them today to try to politely request information from a previous stylist, but as expected, they wouldn't give out that information. I hope I still have his old Red Pear loyalty/business card so I can find his new salon online. Goodbye Red Pear/Lily's. It really was a joy and pleasure to be your customer over the past 5+ years.

She's always trying to stay up to date on trends. Finding someone who knows their way around curls (cutting and coloring curl clumps) is rare and she is fantastic. She gives a great scalp massage during your shampoo which is...WOW! I also value her knowledge around products. She points me in the right directions with tips and tricks with shampoos, conditioners and styling products. Even learned about cowashing. Curl knowledge is even changing and following Tina on Instagram helps too. She's fun too. And has a wicked sense of humor. She's interested in you as a person, wanting to get to know about your life. Don't be surprised it you find yourself laughing in her chair. I am reviewing during COVID 19. In her salon, all staff and clients were in masks the entire time. I witnessed cleaning/ disinfection procedures after I switched between my 3 stations (styling, heater and washing chairs).

First going the Deva Curl/ Curly Girl method route. Then during the height of the pandemic and out of boredom/insanity I decided to bleach my hair and do fun colors. However it destroyed my curls. I was having problems restoring them. Doing research I stumbled upon Rezo cuts and was amazed! I found Tina was trained in this method and the rest is history! She is so educated on what you need to do to get your hair right. And if you stick to it you'll start to see life go back into your hair. Plus you'll have a good time while you're in her chair. I like the hair cut to be pretty simple for styling later. Pretty much if you can let it air dry, then brush out with minimal to zero products later and it looks good, that's my go-to. Since I often wear my hair on either side rather than down the middle, she does a cut with a middle part. I have shorter hairs in the top middle and a "cow lick" in the back with less hair, she styles it very nicely so you can't tell. I also like the particular salon as they use vegan products. They have a vegan hair color line as well. I am the type of person who often looks at ingredients and far too often I will not buy or use a product that has harsh chemicals especially if more than one ingredient listed has a rating of more than #4 on the ewg website. In recent years I've noticed quite a quick response to sensitivities from foods and ingredients in products. Thankfully the products used here I haven't had a negative response to anything. I don't know about the other staff as I only know Anne, but I would recommend this place. Location: if you need to get some shopping in, eat some food, or get gas, they have lots in just a few blocks. One of my favorite cafes is just 10 minutes north in Anoka - I believe it's called American Bistro Cafe, it's located in a floral shop. The cafe is open from approximately 9a-3 & they serve lunch at 11a. The woman is a cousin of a client who recommended the place. The owner makes all her soups and bakery items from scratch & they are so tasty! I like the locally owned shops as they tend to have some good hearted, happy people working there. My daughter (10) had some pink added to her hair and a trim. Turned out beautiful-she was very happy! A week later she wanted to add some tinsel and I was way overdo for a cut. Miranda did a wonderful job on both of us. I also saw (what I believe) the owner and another stylist working at the same time. Everyone there is so personable and friendly. My husband and son have been clients for forever, even when they were in Ramsey, going roughly every 3 months or so. It's a great spot with wonderful people. Anyone you see, you'll be in great hands.
