I showed her an Instagram video of the cut and expressed that my son was getting married in 2 weeks, so this cut was important. I was in the chair maybe 4 minutes, head bent forward, snip, side to side snip and the cut was done. After researching how this cut was usually done, I was beside myself. The Blow-out was spent with her fingers throughout my hair with strands flying everywhere. This blowout was faster than my own. I thought, maybe she'll go over the cut when dry but then unsnapped the black cape and said she was done. I said, "That's it?" and she replied "yep!". I got out of the chair and immediately canceled the next appointment which was the special blowout the day of my son's wedding. I thought, I can do that myself. The cut was pricey and uneven. Sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

I asked for a long layered V cut in the back but the haircut looked like a U and it was extremely choppy. Never once did she show me the back or asked if I liked it. I was being gaslighted by the other hairstylists as if it was an amazing job. It was my fault that I was being nice about it but it turns out she was extremely inexperienced and most likely did not have a hair license. The other employees were joking about a cosmetology inspection and Julia having to go back to being a shampoo girl. Next was the hair dye, and I wanted gray dye with shadow roots. I totally understood if she could not do it and I communicated that, but she said it was okay but it would be a 2 day process because I have some red dyes. (The red dyes were not bright, it was more burgundy by the way) I went along with it because she was supposed to be the professional. After the 5-hour ordeal, the hair color ended up being dark brown/gray but it faded into a light blonde somehow. I called back to request a different hair stylist/colorist and to voice my concerns but the person dismissed my issues and said I could come in on my preferred day. Then, immediately HUNG UP ON ME. Wow! Not once did she ask what was wrong. What kind of place are they running? Anyone who is interested in this place, please do your due diligence and research your hairstylist and/or colorist. It seems as though they are throwing just anyone at the station and I felt completely taken advantage of as a person of color who has long, thick hair. I don't understand how a salon could operate this way. Never going to recommend anyone here who has textured hair.

My appointment was to cut a hair topper I had just purchased and also color my hair to match the topper color. It started with Karen, the stylist who cut the topper. She trimmed the length but did not do the layers I had requested. I let that go and moved on to color with Autumn. She noted the color of the topper which is a light brown with blonde highlights and my own hair which was a dark golden blonde. I clearly asked for just a light, neutral brown, with no red. Autumn reassured me multiple times, but I ended up with a very dark auburn color. She did not apologize, only suggested I come back the next day for a "correction" with Bridget. At that appointment, both Karen, the front desk person, and Bridget initially told me not to worry and that a correction would be made. Bridget explained she'd color over with a deeper brown and add highlights using a protective treatment. However, after mentioning I assumed this would be complementary, she left to talk to her 'manager' Patti, and came back saying they would not correct my hair because it might cause damage. I offered to take full responsibility, but after over an hour of waiting, Bridget said she had other clients, it would take 6 hours(!) and nothing would be done. I said I would not leave until speaking to the owner, Don, and finally was led to his basement office, where Karen (front desk), Bridget, and Patti stood by while Don confronted me. Instead of helping, Don berated me, blamed me for buying the topper, and then tried to bribe me into signing a waiver promising not to write a review in exchange for a refund on the cut. When I refused, he became hostile and intimidating. He said I would be sorry. Shaking and in tears, I called Platinum Hair Salon in West Chester. Their team, including the owner Gabby, was kind, professional, and fixed the color to a medium neutral brown with highlights. Gabby even properly textured the topper. The entire process took less than two hours and did not damage my hair. They were all appalled at the treatment I received at Calista. My experience at Calista was shocking. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and especially the threatening behavior from the owner left me shaken. I cannot recommend this business and would strongly caution others.

She brings out a couple of color samples and what she suggested would look nice together. Even the hair cut I wasn't 100% sure exactly what I wanted but she was so helpful. The stylist did not have a tool cart and instead removed clips and unholstered scissors directly from a drawer, which felt unprofessional. When I showed her a reference photo, she appeared confused. At that point, I should have left. As the cut began, it became clear she was very inexperienced. To avoid further issues, I asked her to simply trim the hair straight across and remove about an inch. Even this basic trim took an unusually long time. When she finished, she called another stylist over to check her work, which confirmed my concerns. At checkout, I was charged $55. When I questioned the price for a student-level stylist, I was told she was a "junior stylist." I paid the bill, left a tip, and left feeling extremely disappointed with both the experience and the lack of transparency.
