Came in to get a haircut at a great time when they weren't busy. I was taken right away. My stylist seemed genuinely interested in giving me the haircut that I wanted. I just wanted a buzz cut with scissors to blend in on top and she did just that. Then gave me a great shampoo as requested. I say my experience in hair cuttery has been downright awful. If you have an appointment for a specific time, you will have to wait two hours just to get your name called. The stylist always has an attitude about something so bad they nearly drown you in the water as they wash your hair. The whole business is just out of control. read more

This was the most unpleasant experience ever at any hair cuttery. The person I requested was not there. After some questions the woman with the purple hair advised me that person no longer work there.. Lisa was late for work, thats who I was assigned to. Poor me!! Then Lisa must have thought I was one of the kids. telling me to just relax over and over, she had 20 years of experience. Lisa said, I was putting my disappointment of the day on her. I tried to explain I know my hair and what I wanted. Lisa asked if she could trim my hair...what a joke!! After she told me she didn't like my tone. My stylist was washing my hair today, and their visiting District Manager starts sweeping the wall adjacent to me with a broom. OK, so now my interest was piqued because I'm accustomed to hair salon FLOORS being swept, not walls. Next, she proceeds to start sweeping the cruddy, dirty ceiling vent adjacent to me. So now I'm triggered because who does this with a client less than 4 feet from them?! So I'm noticing hair and lint floating in the air. I'm obviously relaying my sheer astonishment to my stylist. Once done, my stylist puts me under the dryer. Soon, here comes an employee, Mr. J sweeping up the same ceiling vent by me! I said, "Excuse me, could you not do this while I'm sitting here?" He stopped. I dont know where they thought it was a good idea to perform maintenance/housekeeping with a client inches away, but that is unacceptable. Here's a tip, replace the filthy vents. Sweeping them with a broom, does what exactly?? Perform the wall and vent sweeping when the shop is closed to the public. Like, what in the Board of Health type of activities is this? I called first to make sure there was someone there who could handle my request. I spoke with Nia and was reassured that my requests could be handled but that wasn't the case. I have a short haircut and asked for it to be cut down more, semi permanent hair color and a pixie style. I was passed off by Nia three times to different people who didn't seem to know what they were doing. My hair doesn't look anything like the picture I showed them and my hair is 5 different lengths on a pixie cut! Then I was put under the dryer for an hour and 20 minutes and asked to be passed to someone else while Nia went to buy more combs from the store. Only after getting upset and asking to be rung out without my hair completed did they try to be serious about finishing my hair. This was my first time at this hair cuttery and it was my worse hair experience in life! My appointment took over 5 hours for no beneficial reason and wound up costing me over $100 for the worse service ever!! The stylist I was scheduled with was rude and didn't honor my appointment time. I was there 10 minutes before my scheduled time, and she took a walk in ahead of me. I waited 45 minutes and counting before I just asked to cancel my appointment. Ashley was really helpful and kind, and genuinely cared as I started to tear up while speaking up. She tried to make it right by offering to reschedule for the following week and possibly getting a discount. I chose not to reschedule because it would be another week before I could get in with another stylist, and 2 weeks before I could get in with Ashley (I'm a mom to young kids, and only had availability on Saturdays-another downside, as I had scheduled this appointment a week in advance already). To add insult to injury I heard the stylist I was scheduled with talking about how she didn't care that she missed my appointment to another stylist. I had read the reviews and just hoped things were better, but sadly, it seems like new clients aren't wanted. I'm really embarrassed about the whole situation, and really confused at why I was treated that way. I was kind, patient and respectful the whole time, and really didn't make a big fuss either. I've been an on and off HC client for many years. I'm not a fan of traditional salons so I prefer the quick in and out experience. This HC like many others is a hit or miss. Honestly, it's like rolling a dice and hoping for the best. I usually come for a trim every 3-4 months. Rarely, I'll request a blow dry and simple flat iron style. There is typically high turnover and there is always a new stylist added and an old stylist gone. There is usually salon gossip during, I am purposely quiet during my visits and just hope for a decent experience. My last visit was one of those visits that started rough but ended well. I made an appointment, however when I arrived my stylist was not yet at work. I was told she was an hour behind. Luckily, the only stylist working was able to fit me in as her client was under the dryer. The trim went really well and the conversation was pleasant. As a super curly/coily girl my needs are small (Clip my dead/split ends). I'm not confident I could expect premium color service (based on past attempts at another HC) or extensive styling. I do think that with the right conditions (enough stylist per clients,etc.) a decent haircut/trim can be had here. read more

New to the area and just wanted to get a hair cut close by . Didn't think being a walk in would be an issue . The woman working the front desk was a little rude and I ended up just leaving . Never been to this place and as I walked in I kinda stood there and wasn't greeted or told how to sign in . After a few awkward seconds I said " hello . Im a walk in do I need to sign in on the tablet? " never had to " check in " on a tablet as a walk in so I was confused but I supposed that's to be expected in this day and age . Her response was " I'll be with you in a second " It wasn't rude but I could tell I wasn't welcome . After another awkward minute or two she finished looking up or typing on the computer and sold something to a customer . Finally she told me that they were booked for the rest of the night . Yet I look down on the tablet and see " 0 waiting " so I assumed all was good . Apparently not . Also another reason she gave me was " people are about to get off of work " like it's 695 or something. All she had to say was they were booked when I walked in . Also it didn't appear very busy and there were a few open seats for people to sit while they wait . Just a waste of time . She did eventually offer me to book an appointment the following day which I declined because the way she was coming off was making me feel like it was my fault for being a walk in . my hair cuts have usually taken at most 10-15 minutes because it's short . I was going to select a senior stylist when setting my appointment but decided to take the first available stylist instead to save time. This led me to stylist Isaiah Michael! I had the pleasure and honor of sitting in his chair at the Foundry Row location. I have very coarse, natural hair and he so gently combed and washed it. I am not used such gentleness so I will definitely be visiting again for that reason. But also, Isaiah has an extraordinary positive personality and spirit. I came in the salon after he encountered an irate customer, who he was also very gentle with. He did all he could to accommodate her and she was still rude to him. This did not stop him from approaching me with professional kindness. I was in awe! He is also the first man I've ever had do my hair and he nailed it! Professionalism was at an all time low. I came in was greeted and seated, I was escorted to his station by way of a LITERAL dance and obnoxiously loud singing. Which didn't bother me much. However, you could visibly see that the manager did not agree with how the appointment begun. Whilst other stylist either laughed and chuckled or made comments of that's "too much", "maybe she doesn't want a dance to her seat" Aaron laughed off those comments and justified his behavior. I was asked what I wanted style wise. I said "you really have creative freedom, I'm not tied to my hair." "However bob cuts have become my signature style". "I'm a mom I want something a bit more fun". Immediately things got quiet. The energy shifted. Aaron begun cutting my hair, I gave some history on my hair. I also asked about the store location and asked some casual questions about him. We chatted Aaron sung aloud and confidently to EVERY SINGLE SONG that played. The manager made discreet commentary to Aaron about his lack of professionalism. Which he disregarded. By laughing and making comments about her. So many comments that at times I thought he was making convo with his client (me) so I asked what he said. Aaron confidently responded "I'm just talking shit about my manager". So at this point it's awkward because there's a weird dynamic here where some stylist are loving his larger than life fun (unprofessional) personality. While others look to be annoyed that it's never ending. And the manager is just out of her league. Everytime she says something to Aaron he barks back at Michelle (manager) to where she's being laughed at by the stylist for even attempting or they are laughing at Aarons audacity. Nothing to do with me but I noticed. He's cutting my hair and decides to blow dry my hair bone straight. I asked him if he was still going to wash my hair he laughs and said "oh, my bad I didn't even know" Michelle looks at his with disapproval, probably because Aaron had access to this info but chose to dance, laugh, make jokes about his colleagues and manager instead of doing so. Im just guessing. I said "that's ok it's just what I booked"... a deluxe blowout." I asked if he was finished the cut Aaron said" no I'm gonna wash you and then I'll finish the cut" after cutting a significant amount of hair off. He washes my hair with care. It was a great shampoo and condition. Aaron then takes me back to the chair blow dries my hair, roots are still wet. Takes out the hair straightener and I asked if he's about to straighten my hair Aaron says yes. I said that's not a service I requested. And explain "hey I'm just looking to get a cut, wash and blow dry. He tried to explain to me that the cut wouldn't be clean unless he straightened my hair. I said "I have other obligations and didn't have the time to have my hair straightened." He literally stormed away to the manager and said "I'm not finishing her have someone else do it" amongst other things I couldn't hear. We were never arguing just a simple conversation for clarification. When I asked the manger if there was a problem because I sincerely was confused at what was happening Michelle said she's (different stylist) gonna finish your hair. Stylist I won't name because she requested I not. However she was very kind and to be honest was the most professional out of the 3. I quite literally was holding back tears at this experience. Because despite Aaron being over the top, to see all black stylist in one place creating beautiful looks for women. It was actually moving to see and be in the midst of. Specifically in a Hair Cuttery. Which I've been frequenting for at least 10 years. So to be treated like that over a misunderstanding on what services I booked and what he felt was necessary to achieve the look. Unacceptable. I'm a new mom, it took a lot for me to visit that salon today and I'm just disappointed with the way I was treated and services rendered. It was actually a perfect example as to why "we" never really make it in certain rooms. He's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Be it a coworker or client. Huge liability. read more

I met with hair stylish Lynn, she was multi tasking through out my hair consult,and process... answering phones, talking to employees, talking to walk through. Needless to say, my hair turned out HORRIBLE!!!! I wanted a money piece...I got blonde hair, that did not match the rest of my hair. I am a brunette. She could tell that I was very dissatisfied when I left. Now, I paid $242.00. She text me and said she knew I was up set and that she would fix it. I had asked if she could just put dark in my hair. The color was off and not what I wanted. Rather then listen to me she proceeds to tell me what I wanted! Guess the pictures did not help either. How she was going to fix it was to put a toner in my hair... well that is only temporary. I had asked for the owner or regional manager which was not given to me. NIGHTMARE HAIR STYLISTS!!! This review comes 15mins after I leave the Hair Cuttery located at 10100 Reisterstown RD Suite #20 Owings Mills MD. 21117. My first hair stylist Lynette - The most unprofessional and extremely rude stylist I've ever met... NO GREETING and NO REGARD for the safety of her clients. She brings me to the back and has me seated. She gets on her phone as she mixes my hair color. Supervisor is present and wearing a white Tshirt and Tights so tight you can see her underwear lines and dressed like she was going to the gym - she signals Lynette to get off her phone on the floor and then finally says to Lynette, "not while your with a client on the floor". I assumed Lynette would get off her phone. Lynette gets off her phone and then starts to apply color on my hair, and then steps away to use her phone and comes back and applies color and again steps away to use her phone. At this point knowing what I know about color and previous experience with getting my hair colored, and having sensitive skin - I politely request for another person because I don't feel safe with this hair dresser who is 100% not aware of what she is doing or any regard for the safety of her client and the chemical used on our hair can only sit in our hair for a certain amount of time. In my case I knew that if she kept this up I'd be at risk with getting a break out due to my sensitive skin. Kendra takes over and I thought she was doing a good job at first and then I started feeling my colored hair hit my face and skin near my eyes, nose, ears, and lips. Kendra apologized and I stayed quit. At this point I just wanted to hurry up out of this place. Kendra then takes me to get my hair washed after 50mins. My skin was already feeling irritated. Kendra washed my hair in cold water and then proceeded to say warm water is not used on hair after color is applied. I've had my hair colored before.... This was a different experience and it didn't feel right. Kendra then asked if I wanted to get my hair blow dried??? I was there for a packaged service and it is cold as hell outside, why wouldn't I get that service? So I said yes I'd like my hair blow dried. Kendra then huffs and immediately stated she had another client to take care of and that I had to wait longer to get it done. I had an appointment as well and I had been patient and kind and respectful. But I got up and expressed how severe this experience was. Then Kendra charges me $109 for a single color and washing out my dye???? That's absurd and so I challenged that price. Lynette then says well you shouldn't have been late. The Manager who is a light skinner lady with brown eyes tells Lynette to stop speaking. My hair is wet and the color got all over my face and neck and I had to pay $87 for that????? Some of the stylist are very unprofessional and lack the knowledge of all types of hair. The price for African American hair is very pricey and no set price. The stylist charge what that want for higher commission. The staff do not show up and appointments are canceled and no call back. I emailed corporate with no response. I visited at approximately 1 in the afternoon on a Thursday wanting to use a coupon for the grand opening. I walked in and there were three stylists and three customers, one of those customers was unattended and receiving a service that required her to sit with a plastic cap on her head. Despite the small crowd, I received a lukewarm greeting from two stylists who were working with ohe two other customers. I thought they would be more welcoming since they have been open for just days. I signed-in via a tablet on a stand near the front door. This is something new, and I guess it will speed up the check-in process. Someone walked up within 2 minutes and told me she would help me. Again, her demeanor was indifferent, not mean or rude; she gave me very little personality or attitude. She sat me in her chair and asked me what I wanted. She did exactly what I asked her for and there was no conversation inititated by her or me, for that matter. So, I take away a point for the lack of great customer service and friendliness. Warning: do not come here. I first attempted to visit when they first opened. When I walked in a lot of people were waiting and no one acknowledged me. I sat and waited a few minutes before I got frustrated and left. For some reason I recently decided to give it another try. What's strange is that every other place I've gotten my haircut I've seen the stylists certification on the counter. Not here. I'm not convinced the woman who cut my hair had any training.
