I've been to Hair Express three times now, and it's become my go to for haircuts. The prices are fantastic for the Bay Area around $45 for a cut, and about $55 if you add a wash and blow dry. Considering many salons around here charge upwards of $60 for just a basic haircut (and average around $100 for women), Hair Express is a great value! I was looking for an affordable place that still delivered quality haircuts, since I mostly just get trims twice a year to maintain my hair. Hair Express is perfect. Blanca always cuts my hair exactly how I want it. The location is another huge plus. There's plenty of parking, which is a lifesaver if you have a larger car. Plus, it's in a prime spot with Starbucks, FedEx, and a bunch of great restaurants nearby. I love exploring the area and trying new places after my appointments. Blanca is super cool really nice, approachable, and she actually listens to what you want. It's so important to have a hairdresser who makes you feel comfortable, and she definitely does. The vibe in the salon is relaxed and welcoming, with music and magazines to enjoy. You get a great quality haircut without breaking the bank. Highly recommend! read more

I went in first to get a bob which she cut adorable, but then I realized I wanted it shorter so I went in a week later to get it cut even shorter and she did an incredible job. I've come to Hair Express many times over the past 6 years, and Sara has always been the stylist to cut my hair. She is one of the owners of the salon, and she's always friendly to talk to without being too chatty. Sara is very quick while she works. I've only come to her for cuts to my long hair to medium length, and I can be done in about 30 mins. She works quickly! I've had mostly good hair cuts from her, but also have had an occasional overlooked strand of hair that I'll have to cut at home myself. Hair Express is a locally owned salon that is not going to be over the top with decoration or up-to-date furniture. Hairdresser accidentally cut off a 1.5" wide chunk of my bangs. Instead of apologising, she immediately blamed it on my previous hairdresser (which was also her) and said it was that length when I came in. Absolutely horrible customer service! I made an appointment with Sara for Wednesday afternoon, but she called me an hour before asking if I could come earlier since she had a headache and wanted to head home early. I told her that it was no problem to reschedule so that she could take care of herself and she confirmed my appointment for the next afternoon. The next afternoon, Thursday, I called to let her know that I was on my way but would be 5-10 minutes late because of unanticipated traffic and her response was "That's too late. Okay come". Despite the unwelcoming response, I rushed to reach her salon 10 minutes late, as I had anticipated, only to realize that she had closed for the day. Her salon was locked and dark. Very unprofessional, especially when she could have let me know when I called that she could not take a late appointment that day or at least called me back to let me know. I called her the following day to ask what happened and she told me she waited in her car, did not see anyone, so left for the day, and that she couldn't schedule me for another two days. When I explained how disappointed I was with her professionalism, she proceeded to yell at me and hung up her phone abruptly. Safe to say, I will never come back. read more

Sarah is the best for men's hair styles. Just bring a pic or two of the style you want and she does a great job imitating it. And the cost is quite reasonable. $15 for a men's cut and then a tip. Recently Sarah had to take care of her very sick son so she is building up clientele again. I would strongly recommend her especially if you are nearby. Showed up to my daughter's hair appointment at another salon and the lady didn't even come in to do it. They lady didn't call or anything, and her employees just said she wasn't coming in today. We scrambled to figure out what to do so we went to our regular hair cut place Hair Express. My daughter was in tears by the time we got there and Sara said "my dear don't worry I will take care of your hair for your prom". I took my 2 year old daughter here for her 1st haircut. I was afraid it was going to be a drama filled event. However, Sara was amazing, and now my daughter keeps asking to get her hair cut again. Sara brilliantly suggested that my daughter sit on my lap while she cut her hair. It worked like a charm, and my daughter didn't protest at all. A lollipop at the end, sealed the deal. Also, my daughter's (short) haircut is adorable (she's been getting complements from everyone) and prevents the terrible tangles she was getting before.
