Guys, aren't you happy that you weren't born a woman? Yeah it comes with perks such as getting into clubs free, being able to get out of tickets, having doors held open for us, & being able to wear cute shoes, but it comes with lots of pain like child birth & ohh yeah...brazilians every month! Dottie is efficient & thorough with her waxing. She also gives good advice on how to minimize those ingrowns too. She's avaliable via texting for appointments as well which is so convenient. She does book up fast, but has usual hours from 7 til around 5 Monday thru Saturday I believe. It's only $38 pre-tip and you can also put tip on the card as well which is nice. As many have mentioned, Dottie is a one woman show, so if the door's locked it's because she's in the back with a customer, but she'll open it back up when she's done. I've been to many estheticians that give okay and great Brazliians, and Dottie is one of them! She's located not too far from my place & the price is definetely right without sacrificing cleanliness and comfort of course! I feel bad for "cheating" on my other wax place, but if I can get an appointment with Dottie, she's been my go to girl! read more

NOT the place for eyebrow waxing. In a pinch I scheduled my daughter an eyebrow wax for prom. Eyebrows fully grow in, so Dottie could shape and arch them. The result I can only describe as 2 fuzzy caterpillars nestled above her eyes or perhaps the clean landing strip of a bikini wax...YIKES! When I asked Dottie if she could fix or shape them as pictured in the photos my daughter provided. Her answer was "No, I'm already finished". Absolutely no shape to her brow, 2 fuzzy rectangular disasters. The demarcation line where the waxing cloths had been, shiny bald geometric marks left behind. Such a sloppy job. One which she refused to fix, as she had a client waiting. What's worse, I paid $28 for the service I was not happy with. Something I never thought I would cave and do. Thanks yelp for a vehicle to give folks fair warning! Her 5 star ratings must be for bikini waxing, NOT EYEBROWS. I had to run around the corner to a nail salon one of Dottie's clients recommended as the place she got her eyebrows done. That nail salon technician was able to RESCUE my daughters brows, shape them, it cost $15 and was 10 times more beautiful. Saved her prom pics too!!! So Dottie and The Pedestal might be wonderful for pain free bikini waxing. For eyebrows, I recommend you stay away!! read more

$35 for my half hour Brazilian. Dotti was very professional, we made jokes and laughed our way through the most excruciating pain I will ever voluntarily put myself through. She uses two different waxes, a darker bluegreen and a lighter yellow. The darker one doesn't use strips and the lighter one does. Dotti left a few spots unwaxed and she did miss a good amount of hairs on the spots she did wax. When I got home I noticed I was bleeding more than I ever had before and she left a lot of small wax pieces on me. read more

After reading the reviews i decided to give the pedestal a shot. It was a great decision, Dottie was awesome in working with my schedule and the waxing was simply great. My Grandma told me that my language was vulgar today. I had the audacity to mention several words that she did not feel were appropriate for her ears (the word "crap" slipped out of my mouth when I spilled boiling hot soup on my leg mid-conversation). It's not hard to offend Grammy (she is a virtuous woman) so for Grammy's sake, I will be a good girl and tone down my language a bit, a difficult feat when reviewing bikini waxing. Warning - this could be considered graphic (not for the faint of heart): I went to see Dottie after 4 months of trying to survive quarantine coochie. I came in with a straight beard; literally I looked down and saw I had grown a truckers beard down there. I trimmed during SIP but the growth was unmanageable and when I could finally book an appointment I hopped on it. But I'll be honest, I was terrified that this Brazilian was going to be the end of me and that I'd leave in tears from the pain. SO NOT THE CASE!!! :) Dottie was quicker than ever, and it was more PAINLESS than any other wax I'd ever received. She assisted me with controlled breathing when she removed my coochie beard, but also was rather quick in her technique and left me almost completely painless. Just last Tuesday I had an appointment for my first Brazilian ever. I went in there hoping that it wouldn't hurt too bad (because of the reviews I've read) but i was expecting it to be very painful. The results? It didn't even hurt! I had to ask Dottie if that was it. I only felt pain once which took me by surprise so I did let out a little yell but it was only because I wasn't expecting it to hurt. Dottie is great! Not only is she wonderful at what she does but she really makes u feel comfortable. I went in a little scared & guarded & left feeling like I was at a friend's house. She is very funny! I also appreciate that she didn't just yank my hair out without telling me when she was going to pull. She actually asks you to take a deep breath & I honestly think that help ease the pain. This was my first time so I don't know how much it usually costs to get a Brazilian but $38 seems like a great deal. Of course I left her a generous tip, she deserved it! She made my first time a great experience. I will no longer shave! Bye Bye nasty stubble! I'm definitely recommending this place to all my friends, family, & co-workers. tldr: Beenie does a great brazilian wax and is very meticulous with her work. HIGHLY recommended. She tweezered all the stray hairs and it was a generally painless - as painless as these can be - experience. Total cost was $40+tip and it's appointments only (generally they run from 7am to 8pm everyday except Sunday). The table was very clean and laden with towels and she gives a small hand towel to cover your privates before she re-enters the room to do the deed. A hot black wax is used with one-time use paddles. Very hygenic. Why it's a 4 and not a 5. I was spoiled at my last wax place and only had to pay sub $25 (not Bay Area) and my last waxer was a lot faster. This entire experience was about 15min and I'm definitely not faulting for how attentive Beenie was but my last wax was about 7min and JUST as clean. I think the main difference is that Beenie has a very relaxed pace and doesn't require you to move other than shift from front to back but my last place required you to move so she could get to areas more quickly. In the end it just comes down to personal preference. read more

I went to the pedestal after moving from Brazil. I was a little hesitant to try a brazilian here. One of the main reasons was the price. In Brazil you can get a perfect brazilian done for something like 15 bucks... But after researching a bit I noticed Dottie's price was VERY good compared to any of the other places. So most of my starts are because of the price. The place is very cute and clean, she is a nice woman, made me feel comfortable. I also admired the fact she runs the place by herself and differently than one of the reviewers I don't see any problem about her having her kid staying there. She is a caring mom, the boy is really well behaved and I believe it is important for the kids to be raised by the mom and not by nannies! Now, about the brazilian itself... It was the most painful brazilian I have ever got ( and I have been getting those for over a 10 years). I know many factors influence in that ( mentrual cycle, the fact that I had been shaving for a little while before and etc) so that might not count so much. BUT she did leave some spots with hair. I am picky about it and I do not like when I get home and see that I still have some hair to take care of myself.... read more

Dottie is amazing! How is it that I can say amazing when we're talking about getting waxed? Well, first off she uses great quality wax that isn't as painful as other waxes. Secondly, she REALLY knows what she's doing. She has her technique down packed! Whether you're getting a Brazilian, bikini, brow or lip wax she'll make the area of skin totally hairless. I've been to other places for a wax and they either have the wrong technique or cheap wax and usually leave stray hair in the area being waxed. I have a difficult schedule to accommodate so I usually text her a week or two before I need an appointment. She will get back to me the same day with her availability. The texting part is awesome! The low $35 price is what I initially was drawn to for my first Brazilian, but it's her flexibility with my notorious last-minute appointments that keeps me coming back each month! I also love the type of wax she uses - no extra cotton strips required. Considering it's awkward enough having a Brazilian done, but having someone apply the wax and unnecessarily rubbing the area again is just even more uncomfortable.
