I felt nervous about my hair even before I went in because her texts got increasingly dry and short the closer it got to my scheduled appointment. I wanted to cut my hair short by a few inches after having long hair for a while. I had to tell her that I want to see how my hair looks by cutting an inch at a time. I stopped asking her to cut it shorter because it was not looking any better. After she cut and blow dried it, my hair looked uneven and choppy. Usually hair stylists give you a mirror to see your hair from behind but not this time. I didn't know how it looked from the back until after the appointment. After she blow dried my hair, my ends were heavily swayed to the left. I grew more suspicious that she didn't care about my hair. I asked her to curl it hoping it would fix the uneven cut but my hair looked even shorter after curling. I thought it looked okay at the salon but after washing my hair and seeing it in its natural state from behind, it's actually more uneven and choppy than I thought. I felt horrible and still regret trusting her with my hair. As for color, I asked for a brown dimensional balayage and showed her pictures before the appointment and day of the appointment. She disregarded any of the pictures I showed her and left streaky random highlights from the 2000s around the base of my head that's not blended in with my hair. I had a bad feeling going in, and it only got worse. I feel embarrassed about my hair and my confidence plummeted. I want my long hair back.

My "senior stylist," Evelyn, wasn't available until 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. During that wait, I was offered water once, but I repeatedly had to ask how much longer it would be because the staff kept saying "soon" without giving me any actual estimate. When the appointment finally started, I showed Evelyn a reference photo and clearly explained my daily hair routine. I told her I don't use styling products, don't heat style my hair, and simply wash it and let it air dry. Instead of cutting my hair to suit that lifestyle, she used texturizing products and spent a significant amount of time styling it. I even mentioned that I would never recreate that styling at home because it isn't part of my routine. The finished haircut looked nothing like the reference photo. At the time, the heavy styling disguised just how bad the cut actually was. The salon gave me a $20 new-client discount, and I specifically told them to apply that amount toward the stylist's tip. Instead, they processed a separate $21.18 tip. While it's not the biggest issue in this experience, it was not what I authorized. The real disaster became apparent after I washed my hair at home. The styling products had been hiding an incredibly poor haircut. The layers are uneven and completely unblended. There are obvious chunks of hair missing, and the entire cut sits lopsided. It is nothing like what I requested or what I was shown in the mirror after it had been heavily styled. I'm now left with a haircut that is genuinely embarrassing to wear and will likely require another stylist to spend months correcting. Something told me I should just leave so I did. I checked Yelp looking for hair salons but more important than the reviews were the cuts. At the chain location, I would constantly be talked out of going shorter or getting layers because it just would not look good. So I'd end up with a basic trim. I really wanted a style so as I am checking and comparing pricing, Hair Experts Plus comes up. Yelp reviews say their response time is good so I decide to ask about pricing for a hair cut. I honestly almost just decided to try JCPenny's again when I noticed the response to my email. There was response back and forth until I got to a place where I was too busy to respond. They gave me price that included blow dry and 3 times I could pick for next day appointment. I emailed back quite late giving the time that would work and got a response back in the morning that I was booked. Very easy and quick. The outside may not look like much but as with people the inside is what counts. I was greeted by all three stylists when I arrived. Everyone was very friendly. The place is quaint, clean, had comfortable seats, and nice decor. I met my stylist Chloe and she was incredible. What a sweetheart! She was super comfortable to talk to and I probably could have stayed and talked to her for days. She was very personable and friendly. I love that she asked me what temperature I liked my water. If I get a shampoo or rinse, most of the time I get asked if the water temperature is okay but she asked before she started. That small difference in wording really made a difference to me. She asked me how I wanted my hair cut and proceeded to cut it exactly how I wanted. Not how she wanted-although I definitely gave her creative permission in where to start my layers in the back and asked for her expertise on length. My hair came out exactly how I visioned it. I can't tell you how long it's been that I have walked out of a salon genuinely happy and not second guessing what I just did. Chloe blow dried my hair to perfection and I felt amazing. My haircut was amazing. I have to say also that I love that they were playing worship music. They told me they all go to the same church. They also were supporting local businesses and had Meal Works LV's card who happens to be great for meal prep and is a Christian company also. Honestly this just made me love this salon even more. On my last visit my stylist did an OK job. After coloring my hair she proclaimed that the color did not turn out how she wanted to. OK, then why am I paying you for it? And then she cut my hair all pretty much the same length, no layers. Ended up with a $300 bill for a color I did not request and a beauty school haircut. I would not return nor would i recommend this salon to others. From what I can tell, they are struggling and won't be in business much longer.
