Lord Jesus! Came here after work for the first time. Sat in the waiting area and 3 minutes later one of the stylist came out and walked up to me and asked how she can help me. I replied saying I wanted a haircut. She looks at my hair weirdly and asked how I wanted. I just wanted a zero with a high fade and leave the bun on top.This is what I always ask for anywhere and every salon knows how to do it. She looks at me weird and says they can't do it. lol seriously?!?!? She says they don't use razors there and it would be hard to get it to zero. You're a damn barber shop!!! You went to school for this profession and you opened a shop called, "Hairkutz" and you don't know how to do a zero and high fade?!?! She uncomfortable tells me she can't do it and I felt like I was rushed out. There was another man waiting and I'm pretty sure he's getting a damn fade. So unprofessional! If you can't do my hair, have the other stylist do it for me and not turn a customer down. I'm still lost and bewildered off this! read more

This place has been great to me over the years and I've been with them since 1994. Very nice ladies and they cater to MEN very well. This place is NOT RECOMMENDED for children! They usually have their plate full and do not have the time or patience to babysit rowdy and loud little brats. The parents are even worse if you can believe that. It's not their fault you can't discipline your own kids. Other guests notice parents who can't handle their kids real quick as well. "Great Clips" is BETTER for young children, NOT this place. They also do NOT do zero fades for anyone. The most you can do is 1/2 an inch. They cut excellent men's hair as far as basics go and are pretty fast. Also be advised that the Indian market next door is horrible for this places parking. Not to mention how rude and uncivilized they are. Try to avoid that Indian market altogether if you can. Other than that this place is great for a fast, affordable and excellent basic men's cut. $20.00. Also if you're a woman PLEASE call ahead! Or you'll be placed in line just like the rest of the guys and you will wait! It just makes more sense. Would you rather be RUSHED just rudely walking in, taking forever because you're picky & talk a lot with a half assed haircut and have all the customers give you dirty looks OR have a stylist be nice, PREPARED, professional and take their time on you?? Trust me, you don't want everyone hating you just because you walked in and expect a 4 hour haircut! And trust me, they WILL HATE YOU. Please call them ahead of time so they're prepared and you have a far better experience. If I could give no stars, I would. Went there for the first time on 6/13/24 to get a haircut. When I was next in line, the older lady with a short man cut was smiling and talking with another customer and I told her I was next. So I followed her to her station and she asked me what kind of cut I wanted. I showed her a picture of a style which was a 5 on top and a 1 mid fade. She immediately told me "sorry I cannot cut that style." I asked her if anyone else could and she said no even though I saw her give her previous client a fade. As I was leaving, she was smiling and talking to the other customer that she was talking to before me. I definitely would not recommend this place. This barber shop is always busy! The wait time just depends on how many people arrived before you. Just don't forget to put your name on the list. The ladies that style and cut are very friendly and styles your hair the way you want to. While you're waiting there are shops in the area if you're hungry. . We were here to get my 5 yr old son's first haircut. We just asked to stylist for a shorter cut and a slight fade. The haircut was a success and my son loves his first haircut. A few years back, service was okay but now, the only kind lady is the one closest to the entrance who is always loud and smiling. The other two quiet ones that do men's cut are extremely rude and always talking about people. The short haired man cut lady is extremely rude now! When asked for a length or cut, she never seems to know or tell me she can't do it. I remember asking her for a certain style and she would laugh to the other woman. Then I started showing photos and she would tell me she can't do this or that. Why are you even here cutting hair if you can't or don't know how to do it? Walked in for a haircut, a customer was leaving, looked pretty satisfied. Him and the stylist talked for a couple seconds before he left and the lady asked me what I wanted. I told her, one haircut please, and she told me to hold on. I said okay. She yelled a name and out from the back came this short lady with a man cut. She seemed happy at first and I told her I wanted a short haircut. She did not seem happy at all. She proceeded to cut my hair while speaking to some customers in a different language. She used clippers on my hair that she would yank while cutting. She didn't give me the haircut I wanted. The vibe she gave me made me feel that I'm not welcome there. This place seems to only welcome its own kind, which is a disgrace. It's 2025 and we should be open to everyone. The place can be dead and it will still take forever to get seated. They cut someone's hair then they take a break Every Single Time, the sister with glasses and short hair needs a serious attitude adjustment, she is very rude and has a demeanor about her as if she hates her job. She takes ridiculously long breaks in between each cut to where the other two sisters are calling her to come out because the shop is getting busy, but she couldn't care less. Used to be a fan. Mai didn't even want to do flat top on me so I was referred to Hong. First time she did it real good. Second time less good said couldn't do as short on the top as I wanted. Most recent time was even less short on top and I said can you make it shorter she said could not. Even asked to square the sides and said the same thing! They don't care if there's seven people in there waiting they take their time and then when u finally get in the chair 35 minutes later, they just hack at your hair they don't know anything about styling or cutting hair at all and they take way too long, don't go to this place it's cheap for a reason. Huge rave to Hong for hooking it up with a great haircut! My aunt has been cutting my hair for years and she recently had to take some time off due to an arm injury. So I waited weeks hoping her arm would heal so she could finally cut my hair, fast forward 5 weeks (my hair grows extremely fast) I was literally looking like don king and couldn't wait any longer! I was at the gym and saw this place so I decided to take a chance (frantically texting my aunt asking what to tell them I needed done), I walked in and got seated by Hong within 5 minutes. Mind you I am nervous and stressed the whole time because somebody other than my aunt would be cutting my hair for the first time in 10 years. She made me feel very comfortable and asked how I wanted it cut, I told her a 2 on the sides and a 5 on top. She made good conversation and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it! I'm still going to be loyal to my aunt and see her but Hong will definitely be my back up anytime I'm in need of an emergency haircut! If you visit this place you will have an INCONSISTENT HAIRCUT each time. -Sometimes the haircut is good, but other times it is bad. It all depends on the hairdressers mood. -There will be times when your hair will be blended properly and other times when the hairdresser simply does not care and does what she pleases. Even if you have grown your hair out for months, it may be chopped excessively in a matter of seconds... A constant LACK of customer care. I have been witness to and been victim to snarky remarks, asking for ONE simple request to alter my hair. This is unacceptable. I am very picky when it comes to my hair. When I left the Marine Corps I used to cut my hair all the time and never let anyone touch it. I searched high and low for the right barber to cut my hair but couldn't find one. I wanted to try my luck one more time. I went on yelp and was reviewing the different barbershops in Tracy. Two of the barbershops were very expensive so I kept looking. I finally saw Hair Kutz and read the reviews. Still skeptical I finally gave in. I asked for the barber / stylist MAI. Oh man this lady has skills. I asked for a fade and a little long on top with a part on the side. I was sooo satisfied with my haircut I'm definitely making Hair Kutz my place to go. Came here for my very simple haircut because of all the great reviews - and I have literally no clue what you folks are smoking, because it was not only one of the worst experiences I've had at a salon, but one of my worst hair cuts ever. From the moment I walked in, I could tell my stylist didn't care one bit about me (she's the one with short hair) - no smile, no greeting, not friendly, and she made me sit in a pile of the previous person's hair. You're not even gonna clean that up for me?? Her one sentence to me was: "What you want?" Whenever I tried to tell her anything about my hair, the stylist next to mine had to come over and coach her on what I was trying to say because of a serious language barrier. And then, she tries to tell me the haircut I *always* get wasn't feasible "because this side too puffy". Whatever that means. Thanks for your input. It's not like I get it cut this way every single month of my life... It ended up looking like I'm in the military. But the thing that pissed me off the most of all? She kept blowing the shaved hair directly into my face, which caused me to sneeze violently on THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. Most stylists have at least the decency and respect to use the hair dryer to blow the hair down and away from you, but nope! Directly into my face, eyes, nose and mouth. And I'd react in a big way each time, too, coughing and sneezing and rubbing my eyes and spitting clumps of hair out - only for her to stealthily sneak another gust of hairy wind directly into my eyes, 3 minutes later! Random walk-in after getting some stuffs done at Comcast & wow what an awesome 1st experience, really commendable. Usually I am a bit fussy with my equally messy hair when it comes to hairstylist but sometimes you just gotta take that risk and walk into a new saloon, u never know when you gonna find a gem.
