I moved to the area recently and needed to find a new barber. I am somewhat of a "Ron Swanson" when it comes to haircuts: I like them fiscally efficient and with as little conversation as possible. I also like craft beer however, so decided to 'walk-in' to this place that offers it complementary. I had, in 30 years of haircuts, the best conversation with Ashley that I have ever had with a stylist/barber. Prior to my cut, I was able to watch my basketball team while waiting with a pint (maybe two) for an excellent experience that resulted in some very refreshing candor and an excellent cut; all of this from my most recent photo ID! I am new to the neighborhood. after quick search on the web, and relying on Yelp reviews, I made my reservation with Hair M. as a bad hair-cut survivor, I get quite anxious when I walk into an unknown territory. I was welcomed by Sam, offered local hoppy-IPA (hello Portland). after few sips, I was set to go.. Jess did an excellent job: she was quite courteous and quick. I was out within 20 mins. I already made my reservation for my next cut. I will be trying different stylists, and I will update this review accordingly. Phenomenal cuts and staff. Most barbers I've been to will glance at the photo I show them for about 5 seconds, and then proceed to cut my hair in a way that isn't even close to what I showed them. I hurt my back and was in desperate need of a massage yesterday. By chance I called HairM, not knowing that it was a "men's salon." Lucky for me, they have since opened the spa services section to women as well. (Although I was the only woman there other than all the gorgeous women who work there.) They do have beer on tap, wine, coffee, tea and bottled water for customers and they offered drinks not only to me but to my husband who was simply waiting in the lobby for me. If I could, I'd give this place 6/5 stars. I have never been so satisfied with a haircut before! Antoni is by far and away the best hair stylist I have ever had. He's a super fun guy to talk to and he has a ton of experience with hair (especially Asian hair). More often than not, I'm pretty clueless about what to ask for when I go to a barber. Antoni does a great job taking vague directions and using them as guidelines to give you the best cut possible. I doubt I will be changing hair stylists anytime soon! read more

It's so great to have Hair M open again, and they are taking extra special care to comply with the guidelines and go the extra step to make sure things are clean. Temp check when you check in, everyone wearing masks, and they clean between appointments. Show them some respect.....WEAR A MASK! It's just common courtesy especially since they have to all day (and it's the right thing to do). Chelsea did an amazing job and still has a great attitude despite all of the hardships they and other businesses have been through. After being a member for several years I relocated to the Boston area last year. However I have been unable to find any comparable company in that area. I am just starting my 3rd year as a member... I keep it simple with the Traditional cuts and am always in and out in about 30 minutes, with a beer. It is more expensive but you get treated well and a far better cut than at other, less expensive barber shops that try to do the same thing on a budget. From outstanding haircuts, to straight razor shaves, massages, facials and even the dreaded back waxing...the HairM crew really knows how to help raise the bar for men's style and personal care. I've been a regular for years. The atmosphere is great. Lindsay is the best LMT on the planet. Danielle is one of the very best in the straight razor shave business as well as haircuts and waxing. I could extoll the virtues of 90+% of the Beaverton staff by name because I've seen them all but suffice it to say...they truly all are great people with great talent. The staff are all rock stars!! The beverages are a welcome treat. If you don't like what's on TV, they will change your channel or turn it off. The chairs are comfortable. When you want to relax and shut the world off for a bit, the staff will pamper you in silence. When you want to chat with an old friend they can carry a conversation with grace and they actually remember the last conversation. They actually remember exactly what you requested and what worked best during your last haircut if you come in more than once. Tips/critique: I'm not a fan of their online booking system although it did finally improve to be able to work with Apple devices. Despite the fact that they technically take walk ins, I highly recommend booking in advance. Not that anyone should ever complain about a free beverage but I do believe true beer lovers will appreciate the beer more than the true wine lover will crave the wine, but the price is right and it's always served with a smile. read more

We just moved here and wanted to find something special for my husbands birthday. Coming from an hour that didn't have much I wanted to find something special. Looking on Groupon I noticed this place and the amazing deal they had either for a haircut..which was sold out or a shave. I did some research and loved the idea of this place. I mean this is the place for guys to unwind and be pampered! Easy and great location. When you walk in it is like the man's Aveda salon. Now remember he had no idea what was happening! I was able to keep it a secret and wow did it make his day! He thought he was just coming in for a simple shave..little did he know it was much more then that. The lady at the front desk asked him if he wanted to drink while he waited. She then told him the options, beer , wine..his eyes just lit up! YES! I thought. The stylist came out and greeted him...showing him the way to her station. If you want a more mellow experience then Sunday's are the day to go. Only one stylist works so the salon is empty. He was able to pick the channel he wanted to watch and they also had nice music on too. And the treatment began, cleansing of the skin, warm towels, hand and arm massage, shave and she cleaned up some of the area's around his hairline..to clean up his cut. The treatment lasts for 35 minutes. And she paid great attention to detail. Making sure he was comfortable the entire time. I can see that he felt new again! Mission accomplished! I would never get my hair cut anywhere else in Portland. This is one of the most welcoming, friendly places that I've ever known. My first visit was great, but when they knew my name when I walked in a month later I was so impressed. That is the sort of service the entire staff provides here. They have excellent management (I'm talking about you Alisa!), and a great atmosphere - and I haven't even begun talking about the hair cuts! These ladies cut mens hair better than any place I've ever been before. Most stylists learn to cut women's hair from day 1, and here they take special pride in training their stylists to cut for men. They wash your hair, massage you down, and melt your troubles away. They can shave your face too! (straight razor or mach 3) And neck-line touch-ups are free between hair cuts. You'll have a TV at your station and a beer in your hand (or wine, or coffee, etc.) - but the personalities of the ladies here are more than enough entertainment in my experience. They are a tight-knit group, and they genuinely care about their clients. I highly recommend Veronica and Kim. I've been a regular here for years, and I have never been disappointed with the service. From the moment I open the door I am usually greeted by name and promptly offered a beverage of choice. From there on out, it's pretty much cruise control. Tana comes and greets me, settles me into the chair and just gets to work. Lots of chit chat between us . . . how the family is doing, what's going on this weekend, how's the work travel, how the new house is going, etc, etc. Meanwhile, hair gets cut. Hair gets washed. Scalp gets massaged. Hair gets styled. Done. It's so relaxing that the time flies by and the next thing you know I'm back up front making the next appointment. A yelp five star rating indicates the services are as good as it gets, that accurately describes Hair M Beaverton and my specific stylist (Who's name I wont share here, find your own stylist buddy!) I'm a long time customer (since the Beaverton store opened) the names and faces change but the commitment to quality remains the same. I also believe that its local industry knowledge among the pros that their customers tip well so they seem to attract the best stylists in the area. If there's one thing thing worth noting their customer "rewards" points system is a joke, if your not going to have a real true rewards program don't have anything at all because what's in place is useless for redemption value and lessens the intended value of a rewards system for loyal customers. read more

I made an appointment with HairM to get myself cleaned up before attending a wedding, and also to treat myself to a well-deserved massage and hot-towel shave. I knew it would be a good experience from reading older reviews, and HairM met my expectations and then some. The staff was friendly and very experienced in their various specialties, the atmosphere was laid-back but still classy, and the beverages were cool and refreshing. My only nitpicks were the small selection of beer (I would have loved some Deschutes Brewery brands) and no headsets for listening to the TV. But overall, HairM was a great experience. I left feeling like a million bucks, and I'm going back for another visit next time I'm in Oregon. read more

You would think paying more than $35 for a haircut the quality would be above Supercuts. Two bad hair cuts in a row - this last one was so bad it looks like I was attacked by a chainsaw :( Looks like they hire people with little to no training in mens haircuts. Plus the place is darkly light, loud tvs blasting away & doesnt look so clean. Furthermore, wait times for walk ins can be more than 2 hour wait. I dont see why this place has the following or the ranking it has?? Not happy. read more
