Run by the owner, I always forget his name but he is a super sweet guy and does a really great haircut job for my boyfriend. Since the haircut only cost $9.95 and tip depending on your satisfaction level of the haircut; PAY WITH CASH. The owner is very honest about recommending hair care products for men. He may offer haircuts or ladies (I'm not sure). Even though the shop seems small and homey, it feels friendly and welcoming; the chairs in the lobby are comfortable and there are plenty of magazines to choose from. The owner enjoys having a conversation of just about anything with his customers. There is a charming and optimistic, beautiful girl named Daisy who is the best greeter I have ever met. Very Unprofessional, Very Disappointed I decided to try this place based on their great reviews. I called on a Thursday for the first time to make an appointment for hair coloring. A male answered the phone with a hello in a tone that conveyed I might be bothering him.  No mention of the business name in his "greeting". I had to ask him if I had the right number.  I told him I would like to schedule an appointment for coloring, which he said "Hold on..." a woman gets on the phone who again,  answered the phone with an annoyed "hello". Not even stating her name or a "How can I help you?". Very unprofessional,  who am I speaking with? Felt like I was interrupting people at home, not calling a business.  I should have trusted my instinct based on that alone,  but trusted the great reviews so I was willing to chance it.  During the conversation with the colorist,  she informed me that she was the ONLY colorist Hair Rock had. Remember this for later. She scheduled a consult for Wednesday and color for Thursday.  Fast forward to Tuesday,  the day before my consult.  I call to confirm my appointment since they never called to do so.  A male answered the phone and told me the colorist would call me right back.  Finally...Much later in the day, I get a call from a Marta Diaz. Asking me when I can come in for my appointment.  Confused, I told her I already had  scheduled two appointments and I was just calling to confirm.  She said "Well,  she can't do it so she asked me to take care of you. "  Since they only supposedly had ONE colorist,  who is this lady calling me trying to do my hair? And what happened to my original appointments? All I was told is that she couldn't do it.  So, of course,  "Marta", whoever she is, can't find a time to fit me in that works. So this place waited from Thursday,  Friday,  Saturday, Sunday, Monday all the way until Tuesday to tell me this.  I was going on vacation right after this appointment so I was left without a hair cut or color for my vacation. If they would not have waited 5 days to even tell me they weren't going to do my hair,  (and I probably would have showed up since I'm the one who had to make the call to reminding them I was coming),  I would have been able to find another place no problem. I called and asked to speak to the owner of Hair Rock. Not even sure the man I was taking to was the owner, as he never identified himself as the owner, when I asked. He apologized multiple times and listened, and said he would check into what happened. Never received a call back. No offer to make up for their screw up. Again,  completely unprofessional. That's too bad because if you would have AT LEAST done that, it would have saved you this terrible review of your business. I have been to many different shops for haircuts. Spent a fortune. When my beautician moved out of Florida...I was sick. It took me a long time to find her and to have her do my cut...my way. One day I stopped at Hair Rock Café figuring I would have to start all over again to find someone who listens. I figured for $10 what do I have to lose. My very 1st visit...took him 15 min to cut (I was cringing)...thinking OMG what is my hair going to look like (I am very fussy). I was AMAZED!!!!!! He cut it just the way I explained it...he was listening. I go to him all the time now...10 - 15 min I am out the door. Don't even need an appt. LOVE the way he cuts my hair...never toooooo short! I've been going to Hair Rock for many years, but may not go back because the shop does not take proper precautions against Covid-19. The barber, Alanah, does not wear a mask; he says that his large beard won't allow it. I know that masks are made to fit bearded men. He also says that he has a breathing problem which a mask might make worse. He also told me that he recently had a chest x-ray which shows his lungs to be clear; I told him that doesn't mean he is free of the virus- he could still be a carrier. Because I'm in the high risk category (age and other factors) I find his attitude unacceptable. read more

I recently returned to my home state and needed to find a new hair salon. I first tried an Aveda salon, which is my normal go-to salon choice. First haircut was good, the second one was horrible and put me back $60 for a horrible cut. After reading reviews about this place, I decided to give it a try. Best decision I've made in a while! My husband and I went in for that $10 haircut. Just a basic half an inch cut off straight across the bottom, nothing stylish, and I didn't feel like spending $30+ for that. I drive by it all the time and I saw the positive reviews on Yelp so I figured that I would try it. There were two stylists, a man and a woman, I believe they were the owners. They seemed friendly enough, but not overly friendly. The dog walked out to say hi, he was friendly, but he needed a bath. The cut itself was a $10 cut experience. Sprayed down with a water bottle, combed straight out and cut. No blow dry, no styling, and I passed on the Suave styling products. It was what it was, but neither my husband nor I will be back. My only real criticism is that the salon was not very clean. They need to shut down for a day or so and clean and touch up the place. read more

I really needed a trim on Saturday and after reading Yelp reviews decided to check this place out. I have extremely curly hair and have worn it straight for over 40 years. Every new stylist I have ever gone to has tried to get me to wear my hair curly, but none have ever been able to cut it so that it actually looks great. Well, the lady stylist cut my hair so I could wear it either way, but suggested that I leave it curly for a day and see how people react. This sounded like a good plan to me because there is no doubt my family would critique with bold honesty. They loved it (shock!). Then we went to dinner with 14 other people and they loved it (even the guys!). And today we had our best Florida friends over to watch football and they were amazed at how cute this new doo is. My hubby is bragging that he has a new wife (hmmmm?). All I can say is that I have been liberated from the blow dryer and flat iron and love my new hairdo! Did I mention that I look 10 years younger?? Did I mention that I used to drive 45 minutes one way to get my hair cut because I an soooo particular? The only place I will ever go to get my hair cut. I'm super particular about how I like my hair and I have terrible anxiety revolving around haircuts because they always end up going badly. I've never ever had a bad experience here and now I look forward to my haircuts! The salon is so homey and welcoming and I feel completely at ease here. I recommend hair rock to all of my friends and I constantly get compliments on my style!
