How they color highlight your hair, nothing like I asked for. Not clean at all do not recommend.

I was a walk in to get a quick haircut and they were very accommodating! I had sam who gave me the best haircut! Love this place!

First time at the salon, and I went in for a balayage. Kia was friendly and positive, and the other staff were great too. I left the salon with my hair curled, feeling good. The next day I looked in the mirror at the back while my hair was straight... Trainwreck. The color was yellow-y and choppy (pictured). I have a wedding to be in this weekend and panicked. Thankfully, I was able to find a stylist in the city where the wedding is to fix it last minute. The stylist asked if Hairloft had double booked when I was there - she could tell from looking at my hair that another person was having their hair finished at the same time my color was being put in... So disappointed Hairloft didn't work out, especially with all the positive feedback and given that I liked the people - a really stressful, expensive mistake. read more

I get my hair cut and colored by Bill the salon owner. He has me sit in his chair and he discusses with me what I am wanting with my haircut and or color and does it. There have been instances where I have asked him to do something color-wise and he is very honest with me when he says he either can't do something or he doesn't want to do it because it will not come out right... and I appreciate that. I need a lot of texture in my hair, so when I have it cut he uses a razor and it comes out awesome!!! I get alot of compliments on my hair and I always recommend Bill @The Hairloft. read more

I am probably THE most picky person on earth when it comes to my hair! And I've tried salons from Redford to Windsor to Pontiac to Birmingham .... well, you get the picture. There never has been a more amazing hair salon than the Hairloft. Especially my stylist Yvonne. Yvonne has been my stylist for over ten years. She is an absolute amazing Stylist, and I love her so much, I get many compliments about my highlights and cut. Not impressed with this place. Kind of old and out of date. The woman who cut my hair spent more time talking with her coworkers than cutting my hair. What usually is a half hour job to cut my short hair took over an hour because of her blabbering. Won't go back Didn't really care for the cut. read more

I had an appointment with Shawn the second week in March. I've been hunting for a hair stylist for the past year since the woman who's done my hair since 8th grade retired last May and I think I've found a replacement. Hairloft is a small, cosy space with only six chairs (two hidden around a corner) and the kind of prices that I like to see (women's cuts starting at 23 dollars!). Shawn was very accomodating and pleasant without seeming fake. I was having a LOT of hair chopped off and after she took off the first long piece, she took a look at it and said, "I think this is long enough to donate to Locks of Love." She went to check with the manager, found out that my hair was long enough, asked me if I wanted to donate it and saved it for me. The shop sends in the hair -- I didn't even need to do anything besides sit there. I mean, seriously, doing good with a minimum of effort, how awesome is that? My hair has been growing out really nicely in the past three weeks and it still looks super cute with no styling or only a minimum of styling. Just the way I like my hair! Be warned, this is not a chic or cutting edge place, so you're not going to be pleased if that's what you're looking for. But hey, places that are too chic give me the willies, so I was happy enough. I went the Friday before St. Paddy's Day and Shawn and her co-worker invited me out for a pub crawl on a bus, starting at 11am and going until 6pm. Sadly, I had to turn them down because I had class, but I REALLY wanted to go! read more

The most succint and meaningful review I can give for the Hairloft is that I willingly drive almost an hour for a haircut. I stumbled on this gem when a rival shop across the street sneered at my lack of an appointment, despite their "We take walk-ins!" sign. It was a happy set of circumstances, because I found Alda and the rest of the crew at the Hairloft. Of course, everyone could rhapsodize about their individual stylist, the hairloft is more than the sum of their scissors. I especially appreciate onine booking with phone-call confirmation for all appointments, which means that when I realize I need a haircut at 11PM, it doesn't have to go on a to-do list. Sirius satellite radio means that you have good music, even during that 30 minute colour treatment. Their prices are excellent for their level of service, but having staff remember you & what's going on in your life "So how was your vacation to Mexico??" is what transforms this from "a haircut place" into "my haircut place". - read more

Went in for a trim and thinning. Bill used his razor and hacked me! I specifically said no jagged ends and I now have a million of them. I also said none off the length. My hair is super short now. I almost had my bangs caught up until I ended up with 2 layers of spiked bangs. He didn't listen at all!!! But pretended to and did his own thing. Its been almost 3 weeks and i have a wedding this weekend, I told him. My hair is so short on top it won't even bend!! I am appalled at what he did to my hair!! Its going to take all winter to grow it out!! I just can't believe he thought that was ok?? It almost as if he did it intentionally?? Idk, only my 2nd time there and will be my last!!! read more

I have been a customer of the Hairloft for over 15 years, and have always had a great experience. I usually see Bill, but have had my hair done by literally all of their stylists. This place is not large by any means, but it is cozy and the staff makes you feel fantastic. Everyone remembers who you are, and can easily start a conversation while you wait or while you are getting your hair cut. They remember the styles you like, the crazy styles you have had before, and they learn what is best for your hair. The prices are very reasonable. I moved from Michigan a couple years ago, but still stop in for a cut whenever I'm back in town. read more

I originally came for a consultation and ended up booking an app for my treatment for the following day! The owner was kind, very knowledgeable and was eager to answer all my questions! (Even stayed after hours for my consultation) The results completely exceeded my expectations - ask for KIA because she delivers perfection, conducts herself in a very professional manner, and is very knowledgeable about the product and treatment! I've been to Hairloft several times now. I like it so much that I've recommended it to my mom and sister. I travel out of my way to go there. I've had experience with several stylists and waxers and been pleased with all of them. They're friendly, reasonably priced, take great care of your hair and make you feel good about yourself. They will recommend treatments but there is never a sales push. Pat once gave me the most beautiful style ever with nothing but a hair dryer and a round brush! Check out their website. Hairloft is a really nice, home-like salon with lovely reception lady and awesome stylists! They are greeting you with nice welcomes at the time you walk in, and compliment your style and work with you to make it better. I had my first visit today to change a hair style for new year. My hair is totally long, spirirtless, and style-lost. Pat helped me think of a very clear, cheerful look and he is really careful and did my hair delicately lovely in every way possible. They try to communicate with you whenever they try to make the next trim step and make sure you are okay with what they are doing. It turns out so well that I love it a lot!!! I will definitely go back to them next time. Also if you did haircut and you want to have a forehead bang trim after a while, you can always come back and have it done for free. After reading all the great reviews, I scheduled an appt for a trim. I have long, curly hair and I've had awful experiences in the past. To the point where no one has touched my hair in at least 4 years. Seeing Bill was the right choice. He trimmed my ends and layers and I couldn't be happier. He is a pro! I have been coming to the Hair Loft for about 7-8 years. While I have tried other salons this is the only one I've returned to. Clean salon and friendly, quality service. Bill is the owner and he does my hair, he does the best job and I always look forward to spending time in his chair- he is so friendly and makes you feel right at home. Throughout the years Bill has transitioned my hair from black to healthy blonde and every color in between. I've been black, chocolate brown, brown with a burgundy hue, light brown, and now a blonde. I've been going here since my first formal high school dance. Graduated in 96.... still go here at 39 yrs old. Never unhappy, never unsatisfied , always treated with nothing but excellent customer service. Many people in my family go there as well and have been even longer than I. Bill is a true artist. He never doesn't warn me about upkeep expenses helping me make a good decision that fits my time and budget. He always always creates a masterpiece that is ogled over by friends and strangers. He used a razor (which I always want - but no one seems to be able to use a razor.) He took his time, explained what he was doing, and I am OVER JOYED on how my hair looks. I tend to be very picky about my haircuts, but he gave me an excellent cut that framed my face, not too scissor-happy. The blowdry/flatiron was decent.
