I went to Kelly at Kriskell and she fixed my uneven cut at my first appointment. I love that she took the time to sit down and go over what I did and did not like about my hair. The receptionist who helped me was super welcoming and knowledgeable. I arrived 10 min early to check in, and as soon as I sat down Brittany came out to greet me. We hit it off right away: she was friendly, easy to talk to, was super attentive to my needs and worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. Important to note here that I am VERY particular about my hair, especially after getting it bleached and colored purple, it really needed special tending to. I've gone to a wide variety of salons over the years across Manhattan, Queens, NJ, overseas in Asia, and I will tell you it is very difficult to find a stylist that just clicks with you right away like that - someone who recommends but isn't pushy, gives advice without constantly trying to sell you a service, and will really listen to your needs and adjust accordingly. The 45 min wash/haircut/blowout just flew by. I don't live in the area, but the whole process was such a great experience that I will definitely consider waiting until the next time I'm in town to get a haircut here. Throughout college I either went to another local salon or, if I couldn't wait, resorted to my cousin and a student of a hair dressing school. The last three times I went to the other salon I just wasn't wowed anymore and I really needed a proper cut after letting the latter of the other two cut my hair. My mother has been going to Tuscana for a long time now and referred me. I made an appointment with Barbara, whom my mother uses, to be safe. After the student took a razor to my hair I was not taking chances. My appointment was for 9am. I was a bit early because I came from somewhere else. Plenty of parking in the back. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. I was offered bagels, coffee, the works. The entrance is small, but cozy- not claustrophobic- and there was plenty to keep busy with. It was very relaxing. I wasn't ignored either. There was just the right amount of time between the "I'm a little early" conversation and the "She'll be right with you" conversation. Barbara greeted me and we got talking about Mom and the fact that I went to high school with her son, etc. Despite having my hair cut umpteen times in my life, I still have no idea how to describe what I do and don't like. I thought it was long layers, but what Barbara described with angles sounded about right. I gave her pretty much free reign within a length. The wash was great. I don't remember the girl's name but she was friendly and personable, as well as professional. [and, not to mention, super interesting. Finishing her Masters in Speech Pathology if I remember correctly] Barbara then cut my hair. The cut, conversation, everything was great. I love the way my hair looks and feels now. And the price was right on, if not a little cheaper than I thought it was going to be. I live in Maryland now, but I will absolutely be back to Tuscana. Blow outs just aren't the same down here :P
