I am used to this type of establishment because I had a hairstylist who worked in a similar space when I lived outside of NYC. There are various ways to enter. My hairstylist gave me a code to enter and you can either call for the stylist to get you up or you can get a QR code. The lobby to the salons are on the first floor while the actual booths are on the second floor. There are stairs and an elevator. There are multiple couches and comfy benches on the second floor so you can wait for your appointment. There are stations for coffee and tea that my stylist told me to take advantage of. There is artwork all over and the color scheme makes it not sterile but not too bright. There is a vending machine onsite but since the location is close to many eateries (chopt is next door) you don't have to worry about access. I had a great time with my stylist Lilian. She came on time. She asked me questions about my desires and goals and gave me recommendations that I can use in my free time. I look forward to using her services in the future.

Another, older lady who answered, tells me that they got the deposit, but that it would be better for me to come later on in the afternoon. i was on a tight schedule, and coming later that afternoon was not feasible for me. i inquired that if the 1pm appointment was not available, why didn't they let me know that the day prior? After some extensive back-and-forth where both the older lady on the phone and the younger one in the background were rude, i cancelled my appointment. But guess what - they still kept my deposit and made no effort to return it. i considered it a $50 lesson in who NOT to go back to for hair braiding services. i now go to Mamie at Bless Finger on Flatbush Ave whenever i'm in town.

I initially went to the salon in the spring of 2019 in preparation for my engagement shoot. I'm natural and wanted my hair pressed with clip-ins for my photos. I'll admit the consultation took a while but that is because Noël really wants to understand your hair! She was honest, took in my considerations (I really needed it cut, but didn't want to right before the photos!) and helped me get some high-quality extensions for my shoot. Following that, I became a regular as my goal was to really grow it as much as possible for my upcoming wedding. This involved a few cuts, several Emergency repair treatments, and ultimately she recommended a keratin treatment to help with my curl manageability and improve growth (I have more kinky, coarse hair). After a year, my hair grew to its longest point and actually past the length of the clip-ins I ordered a year prior. The few times I have gotten it straightened my curls have always come back! I went rogue one time when I couldn't get in and got it straightened at another salon and unfortunately experienced some heat damage - never again, but we are nursing them back :) During COVID she has continued to do virtual appointments when I can't come in, consulted me on various treatments and my wash routine, and shipped me products as I have since moved out of state. My hair continues to experience tremendous growth with the products I order from the salon and I am looking forward to being a regular again once it is safe to travel more freely! While the services are on the pricier side, I am willing to make the investment. I can honestly say, you get what you pay for at NNY. (also looking forward to when they can serve wine and snacks again at the salon:)

Right off the bat every employee was super nice, friendly, kind, and sweet. My questions were answered quickly, yet detailed and professional, each receptionist was very kind. I was given tea, and treated wonderfully while getting my hair done and even after. I will say though, they are on a bit of the pricey side. I usually pay $45.00 for a regular wash and press, but I payed nearly $70 at Noel's. It's okay though, because it was all worth it! My hairstylest Harley was super sweet, she made sure I left looking fabulous, and she really worked her magic! I got to meet the owner as well who makes you feel right at home. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone in the neighborhood, or even if you just want to stop by and check it out!

I can to the shop and was immediately created, the energy was positive, the stylist Kathy, came over to me and introduced herself to me and we discussed what I wanted to have done, we talked about pricing up front which I really appreciated. My hair was washed by another young woman in the shop, and baby that was the best wash I've had in a while. The shop's decor is super fly, I loved the personal touches they had in the restroom, it really fells like a girls, girls shop! Back to my service, the stylist was kind, great energy and even asked if she could wrap up another client since what I was getting was more then originally booked on the site, I appreciated that level of consideration so much! By the time I left, I loved my beaded style, I enjoyed the service, the soundtrack that played throughout the service and just being in a fabulous shop where the styles happening next to me had me super inspired to come back. She was then given a new stylist and complained about the stylist not knowing how to do "straight Japanese hair because this is not a Japanese salon". As an African American I was highly offended and mortified that someone would behave in this manner. Although she behaved the way she did, the stylists and owner remained very professional and did not stoop down to her level. When It came time to pay for the service she received she complained about the price (that she was quoted online when she made the appointment and in person when she walked in). She then refused to pay for the service she received which led to the owner to threaten to call the police. The woman became very belligerent as she was asked to leave and shouted many racist slurs on her way out of the door as myself and other salon customers were in shock. Safe to say after taking a brief breather, the owner finished my hair and SLAYED as she always does. I commend her for remaining cool and collected in a very negative situation.
