It was then that I learned that her and her husband bought the salon. 2nd time I came she told me that they weren't accepting loyalty cards granted mine was already half way punched. The new owner told me, I can finish my loyalty card and pay $25 to get my hair done mind you I was paying $20 to get my hair done. The third encounter with her she's still on the phone yelling at someone, then her son is there so she's screaming even more. When it comes time to pay, she told me I have to pay $30 to get my hair done and that I can't use my loyalty card even though I have more punches left. As much as I love my beautician and have been going to her for over 15 years, I'm going to another place. This new owner is insensitive, and I'm pretty sure she's going to lose more customers. Still upset that the original owners couldn't say anything because I was so loyal to them smh. This place deserves 0 stars. Customer service went all the way down; prices went all the way up!!!

I've had decent experiences with them in general. My hair texture is easy to manage (3b-c). It's natural and while I have a lot, it doesn't require a lot to get straight. So a wash and set is all I need. The reason for this negative review is that I recently started taking my 6 year old daughter for blowouts. She has been about 3 times. Her hair texture is considerably more course than mine (4a). It is (or should I say 'was') thick and beautiful. Her Afro-puffs were perfect, enviable, huge round puffs of cotton. Not any more. During the last visit, both my daughter and I came for blowouts. The salon was nearly empty so we had different stylists. The stylist who tended to my daughter was feeling her hair and simultaneously asking "are you gonna be a good girl today?" Not sure what she was talking about I piped in, "she is always a good girl." The stylist said, "I just meant while I blow it, it gets hot." I said, "Again, she always is a good girl, she really enjoys getting her hair straightened so she is a good sport about the process." They went to the shampoo bowl. I was already past that point and getting rollers in my hair and about to go under the dryer. So I didn't observe my daughter's shampoo process. I regret that now. My daughter's hair turned out great. Straighter than ever. Definitely more straight than when I do it at home. I drummed it up to the professionals being professional. I didn't wash her hair for 2 weeks (judge me, it's a thing :)) and my daughter's hair never reverted. 6 year old girl, doing 6 year old play, sweat and all and there was barely any curly edges. Peculiar? Yes... but I didn't think too much about it. It wasn't until I washed her hair that I realized that something was really wrong. 3 shampoos. And her hair would not curl. Stringy, straight hairs all over her head. 6 years of loving up on each of her curls, I know exactly what her hair is like, and...like that... it was changed! I did a Deep conditioning treatment. And her hair still wouldn't curl the way it previously did. Soft, puffy, fluffy, hair gone. And her hair had this awful chemical smell to it. 3 shampoos and a deep conditioning treatment and this weird smell clung to her hair. I was convinced at that point that the salon did something irreversible to her hair. I went to the salon and explained my concerns to the same ladies in the shop I have always seen and talked to every time I have visited, but now they didn't understand my English. So they called a woman who supposedly owned the salon and spoke better English, who expectedly denied any wrongdoing. It's heartbreaking really. So beware. This business is up to funny business. I definitely will never return. I'll be using all the natural hair care tips I've gained over the years to try and repair the damage done to my daughter's continually breaking hair. And telling EVERYONE I know about our experience.

Earning my trust from the start of the appointment was huge, but his skill and attention to detail continued throughout the appointment. He showed her 3 inspiration photos for cuts. He specifically stated we wanted a trim around the temples and shaping and an evening of his bangs. We were new customers and booked a kids haircut thinking that's for kids a not a style of cut. Diana proceeded to cut inches off of his hair he'd spent months growing. She did layer it on the sides, but cut it in a mushroom cut. But most egregious is she finished by brushing all of his curls out. She clearly knew it looked crazy because she asked about whether she should make it shorter (already much too short). His father could tell she had no idea what she was doing so declined further "fixes." Since we had a day out planned. After leaving, given how terrible he looked they went back to the salon to ask for a fix. At least wet his hair. She finally re-wet his hair leaving his curls insanely short - particularly the bangs. He asked her to bring it up on the temples to fix the bizarre mushroom shape, and she refused saying she didn't understand and it's a "kids cut" and that's not what they do for a "kids cut." We were not told there was a standard haircut provided to all kids. She also stated they don't style kids hair for the cut. So they let curly hair kids leave looking like brushed out frizzballs?When he got upset about the whole experience- they made it clear in front of our son that his expectations were too high and they wouldn't be fixing anything. Please please avoid this place with your children - or your curly hair. What a terrible terrible experience! If you can't do a hair cut, just admit it. Don't destroy a kids hair before the holidays and holiday photos. ..... Update - regarding the haircut - we received the following message about the cut and blow dry: "At the beginning of the appointment, your son's father showed the stylist inspiration photos for your son's hair. The photos that were shown were long curly cuts, and it was explained to the stylist that when your son's hair grows out, he does not want it to be big on the sides of his head. With every child/teen appointment, all of our stylists first talk to the parent at the consultation and at the start of cutting. The stylist was following the instructions she was given by your son's father. Once she started cutting, she asked your son's father to come over and check if the first cut was OK. He said yes, and she proceeded to give your son a trim and was taking her time during the appointment. She noticed that the sides were previously cut unevenly, so she made sure to even them out while she was shaping his hair. After she trimmed and shaped his hair, she dried his hair, as it was very cold outside. In the video recording of the appointment, there was not much hair on the floor. She just did a trim and did not cut inches off of his hair." So yes, they were provided the inspiration photos. Yes their stylist asked him to "check on the cut" only after she had already cut significantly more than was requested. At that point, there was nothing meaningful he could do. Yes, she did blow dry his hair into this state, and they are defending it as appropriate for how you blow dry curly hair. "Your son's father and your son were satisfied at the end of the appointment and gave the stylist a generous tip. Your son was not upset when he left." They claim because we left a large tip ($10) that we were please. No, we just believe in compensating people for their time - even if we dislike their services. Monetary penalization is not something we support. All we wanted was an apology or acknowledgement that how our son was sent into the world by the salon was not appropriate. That there was a communication breakdown of what the stylist could provide. That there was any sort of acknowledgment that the cut received was different than the intended and requested.
