This place lived up to its expectations. First impressions upon entering is, clean, elegant, simple. The vibe is very nice here, upbeat music playing in background, multiple TVs with various sport shows and music videos playing. Our waiter Dylan, was great! I ordered sushi, Alaska Roll, Phoenix Roll, and Fatty Tuna Roll all amazing, especially the fatty tuna, I've never had this roll before so it's nice to see new things on the menu. First time here, wanted to check out after the rating on Yelp! Was not disappointed!!! Bright and welcoming atmosphere, super friendly staff (shout out to Melissa who was our server!) I got the "something Petals" for a drink and was delicious! Light, sweet and fruity but not suyrupy. I would def get again! For food we had the Lollipop Roll, tattoo roll and an Alaskan roll. Presentation of all was simple yet creative. The lollipop has a hint of "fishy" taste to it and the only reason I gave 4 stars. I ordered the Alaskan to give the place another shot at the "fishy" taste and it was much better! Very fresh tasting! We will definitely be back! read more

I like variety. I like that there is a new food options in St. Cloud. Let's start with ambiance: The layout of this place is inviting. I like that the music was not overpowering. I wished that sports were not on the television, but I think that's what the area wants (If there must be t.v. I would love something Asian based, without the sound of course. Japanese sumo, news, crazy t.v shows in Asia, since not all the dishes here are Japanese. Again I am aware of my one personal suggestion probably isn't what the public wants.) Also, I liked the servers did not feel the need to small talk even if you are sitting at the bar. Let's got to food...I like that the ramen had soft-boiled eggs! I wish there was a solid vegetarian option and/or solely seafood option for noodle soups (examples: Kimchi ramyeon , Miso Mushroom Ramen With Vegetarian Wontons & Crispy Tofu, Mushroom soba). The sushi was solid; nice and fresh. The martini I had was tasty, different and unlike others in this town and well done by server MK (as noted on my receipt). Another suggestion is maybe adding a sake flight. They have a variety of sake's, but I am not sure what I would like to commit to, so just as one does with beer or wine, a sake flight would be fun and different to the area. I was excited when a saw a new sushi place came to St. Cloud. However, within my first bite that excitement quickly vanished. The rice was not seasoned at all and was undercooked and dry. There was no flavor to it, meaning it was like eating just white rice, but super dry white rice. So, since sushi is sushi only because of the rice, I'm not sure what this could be called. I tried my first piece of the California roll and it was so dry, I tried to choke it down. I then decided to give a second piece a chance...still as dry. The rolls and pieces of sushi I had were cold and seemed like they had been sitting in the refrigerator since open (went for lunch). Due to the lack of vinegar, salt, and sugar in the rice, there was legitimately no flavor in the rolls and sushi pieces. It really reminded me of the one time I accidentally bought sushi at Trader Joe's...that one and only time. The two stars are for the service and the ambiance of the restaurant. If they finally figure out how to make rice, the value would also be good, but until then...even the lunch price is overpriced because you're eating what is basically gas station sushi. Seriously, the sushi at Byerly's is better...which isn't saying much. read more

"Hajime" means "beginning," and this is the beginning of decent Japanese food in Saint Cloud. Sure, we already have Fuji, but so too do we already have port-a-potties. Pretty much the same thing. Best place in St. Cloud for sushi! Never disappoints ~ the full bar and wine and sake selection is nice too! Always a friendly greeting when you come. Service is on point ~ taking your order to checking in to make sure you're doing OK. Our favorite is the whole grilled squid in a teriyaki/eel type sauce ~ very tender! Reviews online looks good so we thought we'd stop by. Overall customer service was great refills on time, super energetic employees but I ordered a Filet mignon hibachi med rare. When the food came I had a cold filet that was practically Med well and super chewy, had to spit out chunks of silverskin. Sushi was good tho. read more
