My family and I visited Great Dragon Buffet on New Years Day to ring in 2023, and I hadn't been in years, so I was anticipating some changes since my last visit. Great Dragon Buffet is located near SCSU in a strip mall with a small parking lot. It was moderately busy and we were able to find a parking spot right away. We purchased 3 adult meals which comes with a drink (free refills). The prices listed on their website are incorrect, and I was able to snag a photo of the updated current prices. If you'd rather do carry out, you can fill a box with buffet food and it's charged per pound. Their selection here is limited compared to what it used to be. They did not have very many options, and some of the food could have been more fresh/tended to by their employees. We requested them to fill the egg drop soup more as the remaining soup at the bottom was mostly soup broth and not so much egg drop. The employee looked into the soup container and told us it was fine, that there was some left and we told him what is left, is not good. He didn't end up bringing fresh soup out and it was the most disappointing/flavorless egg drop soup I've ever had. Their fruit/dessert section is rather lacking and sad. Although they brought out a few hot ones, their veggie egg rolls are gross - the veggie mush inside has a slight sweet taste that was off to me. The food we enjoyed was their lo mein (only vegetables), fried shrimp, cream cheese wontons, and mushrooms & thinly cut chicken. The fried shrimp was panko breaded, and perfectly crisp. Their mushrooms were cooked well - they had a nice crunch & the sauce was good too. Thank goodness for their lo mein, otherwise I wouldn't have been full. With the price increase, we'd hoped for more choices on the buffet table, but unfortunately, it's the opposite. Less options, more money. Don't come expecting seafood options because there were only 2 seafood options when we went - both shrimp. That's it - no fish, crab, etc. that used to commonly be found at buffets. The owner was very sweet and accommodating - he constantly checked our coke & sprite and refilled them for us with a smile. He was so welcoming & kind and I wish we had loved our buffet experience, but hopefully in the future, they add a few more dishes or rotate some out of the current line up they have available. Although their food is average, their phone lines seemed to be quite occupied with takeout orders, so be mindful of that when calling to place an order. read more

Stopped here after a football game on a friends recommendation. Parking is sparse, small family run restaurant. The food from the Buffett was basically gone, not a huge variety of options, the food was alright when they brought out new treys, I didn't talk to anyone about a drink but was brought a Mountain Dew, little confused by that. It does have the typical ambiance of a Chinese buffet. may have been an off night for them, but overall I wasn't impressed. HORRIBLE OWNER. SO RUDE. overcharged us, refused to give refund. Ordered a dinner combo (pointed to it) and they still charged us for the specialty meal which was more expensive. Chicken was so overcooked and bad. Will NEVER go to again. The woman owner won't even talk to you or give respect just tells her worker he's not allowed to refund and she's the boss. Ordered delivery to try this place out. They said it would be 45-60 minutes for time. Over an hour later the food arrived. The delivery guy didn't seem to realize how long we were waiting. No "Sorry for the delay". Food quality was ok, not the best. The egg roll and cheese wontons were small. I had the beef and broccoli. The beef was really chewy. The other half had pork with broccoli. Its a great buffet, with fresh food, and the teriyaki chicken tasted great! The egg drop soup was good. Would definitely recommend.

We tried the food since we stayed in a nearby hotel. Not bad. Not great. I wouldn't recommend the Lo Mein. The noodles were bland. Chicken Szechuan has zero spice but it was tasty.The hard noodles were stale and the lucky numbers in my fortune cookie didn't win the powerball. read more

I think I ate here more than any other place in St Cloud when I was living with my parents. I loved it at first, when I think they were getting more business. But then they weren't as busy the salad bar seemed less fresh. It was still good for cheap asian-like food but not 4 star quality. Love the sugar donut thingies (like any asain salad bar, haha). It's small. Very small. But what the Great Dragon Buffet lacks in size, it more than makes up for in substance. My friends and I eat here all the time. Sure, the Super Buffet and China Star have more, but the food at the Great Dragon is so much better. Always warm and fresh with great service. $10 for AYCE dinner. Food was just alright. Nothing special, but I generally like Chinese food a lot so I wouldn't rule out going there again. I didn't care for the General Tso Chicken or the spicy pork. No snow pea dish or green beans. Boo. Fried rice was bland without soy sauce and the chow mein was greasy. Sweet and sour pork was dry and the dessert was utterly forgettable. You don't usually go to Chinese restaurants for dessert though. I observed some questionable food serving procedures. Wife took a food safety class and told me that you're never supposed to mix old food with new when refilling a dish, especially when it contains meat. I love the Great Dragon Buffet! This is honestly my favorite food in the world and I would eat it every day if I could. I like to have a little bit of a lot of different things for a meal and their by-the-pound buffet take-out is perfect for that. The buffet is almost always well stocked, and I've only had to wait for food to come out twice, both times during lunch/dinner rushes. Their brown sauce (think chicken broccoli) is the best I have ever had, and if they bottled it I would buy it by the gallon. I've been eating here since I was a teenager (15ish years) and the older I get the more I like it. I now have it probably twice a week, and when my husband and I discuss food cravings he just assumes this is mine unless I say otherwise. I've never gotten sick, I've never had bad service, and every time I have ordered delivery it has come in less than the estimated time. Regardless of any other factors, this is a very good track record over that length of time. read more

i made a $60 dollar order for delivery, one of the orders i had put in was for a vegetarian dish, they delivered a chicken dish instead. i called and asked if they could bring me the correct order, they said there was nothing they could do about it. decent food, poor customer service. read more
