    Mixed Platter with metal blade
    Jacqueline R.

I give 0 stars. But since I have to rate to post review. I give it 1 star. Ordered from here before and today I got the worse finding in my food. A metal blade. Thankfully, I didn't take a spoonful. Be careful when you place orders.

I was in the vicinity of Downtown Newark, in search of a quick bite before a show at the Prudential. This place provided super fast service. I ordered the whiting sandwich which came wrapped in foil. When I unraveled the wrapping, the sandwich did not look appetizing but looks are deceiving. The fish was fresh, hot, and delicious. I also highly recommend the uptown drink (which is the same as an Arnold Palmer)... very good stuff! The drink is served cold but mine had no ice because the ice machine was broken.

Chicken over rice white sauce and hot sauce is a must!!

The food here is fresh. The plates are generous with an option to upgrade. I love Halal food and am always looking for authentic places to choose from since my favorite halal cart isn't always an option. They season their meat a bit different then Traditional halal but it is still really good. Their side salad is also a better quality then others in comparison. The prices are decent and not out of hand like other places. I have visited them a few times to take out and am glad to patron locals and contribute to my community.

Tried this spot today. Damn it hit the spot for real. The rice was just on point and delicious. The salad was also good. Added some extra red onions and it made it better. The lamb was plentiful and went well with everything. I would definitely get this again!! Also great price and value. I got some sweet potato pie too for that late night craving. The Uptown was the perfect sweetness and lemonade iced tea ratio!!!

I am very disappointed with my order. Nothing tastes or looks fresh. The meet is dry and has an off taste to it. I hate cucumbers and I wanted extra tomatoes. The white sauce taste like ranch and the rice is disgusting. Very upsetting... not like the Halal Guys At All.

Its English name comes from a Greek legend: Zeus had an affair with a beautiful woman named Io. When Hera, his wife, discovered his infidelity, she turned Io into a cow and created a horsefly to sting her on the rump. Io jumped clear across the strait. Thus, "bous" = "cow" and "poros" = "crossing place": Bosphorus = "crossing place of the cow." Located off of busy Franklin Avenue in Nutley, my partner, our friends, and I have decided on our dinner at this family-owned-and-run BYOB establishment, which has been open since 1995. A reservation was made for a party of 4 by calling their restaurant. Upon arrival after three years, we were welcomed by Nora, the owner, and made our way to a table by the piano inside, evoking a cozy, thoughtfully designed, upscale vibe with music playing softly. Their menu features Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. For starters, we decided on the Puffed Rill Pastry and Grape Leaves. Our main meal consisted of all lamb dishes (Lamb Shish Kebab, Beyti Kebab, Lamb Chops, and Lamb Sauté). Our food was fresh, well seasoned, and cooked to perfection, accompanied by a beautifully presented dish. Everything was authentically made with love here. Wish we could have stayed for dessert, as they looked amazing, but some of us were in a rush. It's definitely on the higher end cost but worth the taste. Our visit ended with a hug and a piece of candy.

The mac and cheese tasted like what I call "Black mac and cheese"not the dry or overly cheesy version you get at a lot of other places. It was just perfect. The oxtails are officially my favorite now, and that's saying a lot because I've been loyal to my go to Jamaican spot for over 15 years. These were perfectly cooked, seasoned, and packed with flavor. Still thinking of them. The rice, collards, and yams were all delicious, and the fried wings and fish were excellent too. Every single thing I tried was amazing. 3 stars for portion sizes that are enough to feed you for a whole day…read more.. Soo I was craving a chicken and rice platter drenched in white sauce. I know there's a million Halal spots popping up, and I will admit I'm very, very picky when it comes to platters. I miss the good ol' days on 53rd street in NYC... I came by around 10pm and was served quickly by a friendly employee. They have platters, burgers, wraps, wings, chicken tenders, fries, etc. I ordered the chicken rice platter (~$13.50). They cook the meat fresh on the grill and then you choose your toppings at the salad bar (olives, onions, peppers, tomatoes, etc.). It's a bit pricier than other places, but the portion size is huge. The container felt HEAVY lol. It's just a shame it went to waste because I really didn't enjoy the food. I only finished about half of it before I tossed the rest. The white sauce was almost flavorless and was VERY watery. The chicken wasn't as well-seasoned. No distinct spices or aroma. Every bite left me with a very greasy and salty taste in my mouth. The side salad was just okay. I was disappointed. The only saving grace was the rice... it was fluffy and the best part of the whole platter. Not sure if I came on an off night or...? Don't let my review stop you from trying. It might just not be the Halal spot for me.

(He got me a mixed platter) The portion size is big enough for SHREK. The price was perfect for a gambling degenerate like myself. Don't think twice, just go. This is definitely a place to bring your side piece... your main girl will never know. Unless your main girl is a TJ MAXX shopper, that's right across the street, in that case be cautious taking your side piece here.
