Chicken Pasta before our flight to Lisbon
    Pamela L.

My son refuses to eat airline food. So we opted to grab a quick bite before our layover flight to Lisbon. The menu here caught our eye. My son had the chicken pasta and I had the tuna sandwich. Really love how the tuna came with tomato and lettuce. Both were excellent and the price was surprisingly not outrageous. Service was A+. While waiting for a table, the manager/owner and a waiter must have reassured us like 5x that we will be seated soon. They were attentive, always came by with a smile and made sure to fill our water glasses. A restaurant with a 4 star rating at Terminal B at Newark Airport. That speaks volume. Most of the tables here are for two people. Longer wait if you have a bigger group.

Ian was charming and knowledgeable on both wines and menu suggestions. His warm welcome and thoughtful service put me immediately at ease. He even charged my phone at the bar so I could enjoy a secluded table. Ian set the perfect tone for a holiday trip to France. Merci pour tous.

A lovely back while waiting for my flight.

What a lovely diversion while waiting for my flight out of Newark. Quiet. Good music. Good wine. The goat cheese app was delicious and just enough. My server, Towone J, was pleasant and accommodating.

This place was nice to stop at for a drink and food before hoping on my flight. The atmosphere was relaxing and chic in comparison to the other restaurants in the airport with a more grab and go sort of service. I ordered a salad which tasted great as well as glass of Pinot Grigio. The staff were attentive and cheerful.

    Cheeseburger sliders

The other restaurant in Terminal B was an understaffed hot mess so I ditched them and came here. Chill atmosphere, fast service, and friendly. Cheeseburger sliders were juicy and delicious and I had 2 glasses of wine. Manhattan prices which I guess is fair for an airport.

Hands down best airport food I've ever had. The food not only looked good, it tasted even better, and came out VERY quickly. The atmosphere is great as well. I would HIGHLY recommend this place. My server was Tawone and he was the absolute best!

Great service! Wonderful staff, all the bartenders were so friendly and knowledgeable. Wish they had a location other than the airport.

Really extensive menu with very reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of food. The spicy calamari is a must try and every entree and pasta are worth trying, too. I will definitely come back on the next visit to Newark and would highly recommend if you're in the area (especially if you are staying at Newark airport overnight!)

For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.

Most recently was last night and that was my last straw. The music was incredibly and unnecessarily loud which they knew because they told us they'd turn it down before we got the chance to ask. Next, there was one waitress on the floor, clearly overwhelmed. Told us she would be back with water but came back almost 20 mins later. We ordered our wine when she came back because who knows how long it would take to receive it. Another 20 mins, maybe more. We watched her seat several groups and I literally had to scream across the room to get her attention and to remind her of the bottle we ordered, which she had the nerve to appear annoyed about. We asked her if we could move from our tables to a nearby couch which she said yes. Before we had a the chance to finish the bottle the GM comes over and tells us to move our seats and that he would take care of us (NEVER DID NOR DID HE CHECK IN). This is the same GM who asked me to give the place another try after the last issues we encountered where they screwed up our checks due their own carelessness. I should've raised more of an issue and questioned him more. But nevertheless we move to these two musty smelling seats. At that point we left and decided that would be the absolute last time. Go at your own risk!

I saw a billboard highway ad for Americano while driving home from work and didn't realize it was nearby, so decided to give it a try. Street parking was available. I'll preface this by saying I came on a weekday around 5 PM after work, so it wasn't particularly busy when I entered there were like 2 people dining inside tops. There didn't seem to be a dedicated host or hostess at the entrance, but a staff member eventually led me to the bar area and took my order. They didn't seem too enthusiastic but maybe it was a long day, who knows.. I ordered a salad, seafood, alcoholic drink, and dessert; I was a little surprised that the salmon didn't come with any sides. When I asked, I was told that sides had to be ordered separately. So I had to wait for my mashed potatoes to come in and by then my seafood had cooled off. That's fine, but I would've appreciated a heads-up when ordering rather than finding out once the entree arrived. The ambiance is very nice. I really liked the classic movie-star decor, the music fit the setting well, and I appreciated that the staff were appropriately dressed for the atmosphere. I'm a James Bond fan so it was nice seeing Sean Connery and Daniel Craig up on the wall. Those details gave the restaurant a polished feel for sure. The pricing, however, felt high for what you get, particularly for Bayonne... it was closer to what I'd expect to pay in Manhattan. I was also surprised by the automatic 20% gratuity that caught me blindsided. On top of that, the receipt still gives you the option to leave an "additional tip," which could easily lead someone who doesn't notice the automatic gratuity to tip twice. So I actually tipped twice unknowingly lol. I think the 20% charge should be made very clear to guests when the check is presented.. Overall, I would still recommend Americano, but I'd caution others to expect a relatively expensive dining experience for what it's worth. One final small detail.. I would've appreciated a simple "thank you" or "goodbye" on the way out. The staff seemed preoccupied, so I didn't make much of it, but at around $150 per person (see my receipt) you'd naturally expect the service to match the premium pricing. I'm also comparing this to local premium fine dining areas in the NJ area like Felina Restaurant, The Feathered Fox, The Maddy Rose, 87 Sussex, Sofia's Fine Italian Cuisine, etc, so as you can see there's a lot of competition that offers similar value, and I'd say what separates each are vibes and customer service since that's what you're paying extra for. It's the little details that count. Again, it's got great atmosphere, great potential, and it's a promising restaurant, but the service and value could be a little more polished for the price point.
