Racist, unfriendly, no menu prices, and overcharged 10 for chicken over rice. Terrible service and small portions. Hope they close down!

Fresh tortillas, simple ingredients, and bold Mexican flavors are what make Los Tacos No. 1 one of…read morethe most popular food spots inside Chelsea Market. Founded by friends from Mexico and California, the restaurant focuses on authentic street-style tacos made with hand-pressed tortillas, quality meats, and traditional toppings. The setup is casual and fast-paced, and it's common to see a lineup, especially during lunch and dinner hours, but the line usually moves quickly. The menu is focused on a handful of tacos, quesadillas, and aguas frescas, with favorites like adobada, carne asada, pollo asado, and nopales. The open kitchen lets you watch tortillas being made fresh and meats being prepared right in front of you.

Their secret? Traditional family recipes paired with fresh, simple ingredients straight from home create a truly authentic flavor. My son and I recently visited Chelsea Market, eager to try Los Tacos after hearing it's home to the best tacos in New York. From the moment we joined the line, the lively atmosphere and friendly staff made us feel welcome. I loved that the open kitchen allowed us to watch our food being freshly prepared. I ordered two Abodbo Tacos and two Carne Asada Tacos, and each bite was bursting with flavor. The Abodbo Tacos were slightly salty, but the pineapple topping perfectly balanced them with a sweet contrast. The Carne Asada Tacos stole the show--tender, flavorful meat topped with delicious ingredients that made each bite unforgettable. I'm already planning my next visit--these tacos are truly worth the return trip. Are they the best in New York? That's for you to decide.

I have become a big fan of Mexican Food Trucks and a couple of days ago I found La Perla Mexicana…read moreon West 14 St and Washington St in the Meatpacking area. As I approached La Perla I was hit with the aroma of good cooking. You know that loving feeling of spices in the air, meats being grill and eager customers waiting for their tasty goodies. Sold. Ready to order and eat. I judge Mexican Food Trucks by their tacos. If they can't cut it here, then they need to go back to the drawing board and La Perla did not disappoint. My standard test is ordering a carne enchilada taco. Their version is an over stuff taco with well marinated beef, top with onions, cilantro and liquid guca to accentuate their carne enchilada. Delicious. Their focal point of this authentic Mexican taco was the carne enchilada, not the toppings. It should be plentiful with meat, tender and well seasoned. In Spanish we call it "SABOR', flavor. La Perla has it down, a HOME RUN. Overall, I don't know if this is a new location for La Perla Mexicana since they have a restaurant by that name on Mott Ave in the Bronx., but if your in the area and looking for tasty authentic tacos, check it out. I think you will be a happy camper. Enjoy.

I happily stumbled upon this truck in the Hudson Square vicinity yesterday (corner of Varick and…read moreKing). I'm not sure if I've seen it before and just kept on walking or actually never noticed it, but I'm very glad I tried it. Holy crap! I was raving about the tacos to my coworkers all afternoon, they probably think I'm some obsessed taco freak now. This is not one of those fancy fusion, chipotle crema using food trucks with newfangled twists on Mexican that are so ubiquitous these days. This is the real deal. The address on the side of the truck boldly lists Corona, Queens as its home, so these aren't some young upstarts who have migrated from the Midwest to get in on the action. Yesterday, the truck was being operated by one guy, and he was quick. I ordered 3 tacos, which came out piping hot, loaded with meat, salsa, guac and cilantro. Great portions and for $8, I don't think you're going to find a better deal. I had the al pastor, grilled chicken and carne asada. All were very tender and flavorful, in perfect bite-sized pieces to allow for expeditious devouring. They also offer cemitas, tortas and burritos. The tacos I had were so enjoyable, I can't imagine ordering anything else, but it's good to know that I can. This place is a big win, highly recommended. I'll definitely be back!
