I got to meet Ant and talk for a bit and that was awesome...I'm already looking forward to going back. Service was fast and excellent and I dig the shop he has there in Verona. You can just stand there and watch the baked goods churning around in the back. You can order prepared foods from a wall menu, or the various baked goods they have on display, combinations... they are there to patiently take your order! Even if the place feels industrial, we're talking Newark, so. Of course, custard cups are still as amazing as ever. I got another of their wonderful desserts - bolo rei, was it? - rich and dense with raisins. Wonderful. And arrufada de coimbra, a bread roll topped with coconut, just to try something different. Like I said before, I have an urge to drive back, but this time it's not just for the pastels de nata. It's for all the things. Yelp has grown me to want to try it all when a place is as delicious as Teixeira's.
