Halal from a gas station sounds like a terrible idea. However, taking into consideration I spent a lot of my 20s and 30s eating Halal from a street cart off a street in Manhattan at 2 AM how bad can it really be? Does this compare to a combo over rice in the middle of Manhattan at 2am waiting for the next subway home after a night out with your friends? Not even close because nothing will ever compete on the level of greatness a combo over rice will have on those nights. With all that being said, this isn't a bad spot for a combo over rice or a quick Gyro in the area and they are open late and are extremely friendly. It's also inside a gas station so grab a pack of smokes, some beer or even an unofficial Mets hat because why not? What regular Fans of Halal should know is the hot sauce is the hottest hot sauce I've ever had from any Halal spot ever. It's extremely tasty but trust me and be careful. Hot sauce served on the side, as they probably have had some palm-colored people complain about it (I am palm-colored). Fries were hot and crispy and very tasty. Well-seasoned. The chicken spring rolls were hot and crispy too, but not really seasoned and pretty forgettable. The description says "Indian spiced," but I really didn't appreciate that. Hummus (styled as hommus on their site) on their website was good and came in a large tub, and the pita was hot and fresh. Maybe a little pricey for what it is, but it was a DoorDash order, so I can't blame them if they inflated the price. Plus, I am pretty sure they are operating out of a gas station, so their overhead is probably high. This spot also has lamb over rice, combos over rice, fish, falafel, gyros, eggplant. They also have some more americanized drunk/hangover food like jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks, loaded chicken fries. As someone who is constantly hitting up food carts and halal places in NYC, I am pretty judicious about it, but this spot in Fishkill is probably the closest you're going to get in this area. I was a bit skeptical when I saw the arrangements of a "takeout" place in a gas station behind the counter where cigarettes and lotto tickets are sold. Was told by others was good. Was up here at Splash Down, and rather than eating their mast, overpriced food, was looking for a place nearby. My wife didn't want anything, so as soon as I saw Halal nearby, it was a done deal. Hadn't had the stuff since I lived on the UWS by an original Halal Guys location. Was surprised to see this place in a gas station, and with a bunch of Indian dudes. They added some Indian items to the menu too (ie: veggie samosa) which was a good touch, and were very attentive to ensure the order was done right/quick. Seems like they're set up most for deliveries which is smart given the location. Pretty damned good chicken and rice all around. Chicken quality was good, and they were judicious with the sauces which were standard (white/red, not too much/too little). They used basmati rice which was a serious upgrade versus typical Halal. Salad was fine too. Portion size was solid, although it didn't make sense that the platter was the same price as the gyro. Only real gripe would be that I wish they put a few small slices of pita with the platter like some places. Either way for $12 this is a satisfying lunch. Random as hell that this is in Fishkill, however I would go out of my way to have again. This hit the freaking spot after being starving for hours. And getting your gas while they make your food is just a bonus. read more

But with the lack of variety in the area, compared to queens and NYC, I took my chances and tried Halal Bros....and I was not disappointed. 5/5, would definitely recommend! I've had the lamb and gyro meats, both are delicious and perfectly spiced. Neither have ever made me sick, as I had initially feared when getting Halal from a gas station lol. When I lived in NYC, I lived in the Little Egypt section of Astoria. There was a halal cart two blocks from my apartment, and I ate their food at least twice a week. Since moving to Beacon, I've really missed it. There's a Middle Eastern restaurant here in town, and it's decent, but nothing beats a cheap halal truck. Well, last night I tried Halal Bros, and it was so delicious I was exclaiming over it the whole time. I just had the leftovers for lunch, and honestly, I want to go back again for dinner. It's located inside a gas station, so if you're looking for ambiance, this isn't it. But if you want excellent Middle Eastern food to go, run in and grab some falafel and fried eggplant. I recommend ordering it over rice; their rice is flavored with cardamom and cloves, and might be the best halal rice I've ever had. The one complaint I have (and it's minor) is that I ordered hummus and pita, and only got one pita (grilled, though, so bonus points for that). Ask for extra pita, especially if you're planning to share. Other than that, everything is pretty much perfect. I hope this place stays in business for a long time! read more

A really pleasant surprise! Was joking when i first saw it, haha food from a gas station. Then when we parked outside and i could smell the meats and spices i knew i was in for something great! We got the falafel, a gyro wrap, hummus and the chicken rice with eggplant add on. Didnt get pics of all of it cause we immediately began eating, but this was one of the few places in the area that has done a decent falafel. They were green inside, not yellow! The lamb gyro was soo tender. The eggplant was amazing and they portion size on the chicken was nuts. I got full and had 70% of the food left. HUGE CLEANLINESS ISSUES!! I always get my gas at this stop. Nabbed some food, and the first time it was okay. I never actually been inside before this, and there were boxes EVERYWHERE and it was cramped. The food was nothing to write home about, the lamb was a bit dry but everything else tasted great.
