Whenever Brandon was working he made sure to interact with each client and made sure to meet the needs of each client. Whenever Brandon and Rita were working they made us feel comfortable and safe. The nursing staff was extremely knowledgeable and made themselves always available to every client. They were always around to meet the clients needs. Thank you so much for making my experience the best that it could be! If I ever need help with my mental health in the future I would definitely return to Jackson House in La Mesa, CA.

They never mentioned in the hour long conversation that they were a behavior health program. In other words, they tried to trick me into believing their #1 goal is help with finding appropriate medical care to help diagnose the source of my pain. They LIED because they actually treat vulnerable , suffering chronic pain patients as the psin iis "all in your head". I had to Google their program to find out the truth ! I am thoroughly disgusted when I found out that they are actually ultimately attempting to put clients on SS Disability and THEM being your beneficiary for THEIR financial gain ! They prey on patients who don't have support system so that they get control over their clients finances! When I called them out on it, I just heard a bunch of "ummms" "let me check with my coworkers " "we're not just a psychiatrist program because we offered several different alternatives . Total bullishit because they never disclosed anything regarding psychiatrist care. Their program is a complete HOAX unless you're a drug addict or have severe metal problems. I called them and told them that I do not want their services and to not contact me again. Low and behold, another rep called me 3 days later wirh the same scripted shit I was told by the last rep !

I signed up for Serene ECM, and have yet to hear from anyone. Thank god, I have an attorney, as I am suing Truecare for Malpractice and we just added Serene Health to the list of people / companies being sued. Don't even give these people your information. They will never "opt you in" just bill your insurance for services never provided to you.

Akua is more suited for those with higher behavioral support and cognitive support needs. Those with less support needs in those two areas have more difficulty adapting to an environment, not geared for their abilities. Those with higher behavioral needs and cognitive support needs are given preference over those who do not appear to be struggling as much with behavior or understanding. however, everyone who is in a mental health residential or a drug alcohol residential needs more support than the average bear not just those without obvious needs. That being said, the food is great and tailored to any dietary needs. Roy is amazing! He was a major bright spot for me. He helped me finally get heard by physical doctors after 20 years of trying. It was administration that made the decision that my physical support needs were too high.

However, in this season of Thanksgiving, I find it's the perfect time to share my family's experience.  With the help and support of Apex, my husband once again has control of his life and his health, my children have their father, and I have my best friend. They literally saved his life from the grasp of his alcohol addiction. When the best Kaiser could offer was a mental health facility for my husband to detox {try to imagine a strip search, outside privileges offered only 2X a day for 30 minutes- and that's in a cloud of cigarette smoke-and people pacing the hallways screaming obscenities at all hours of the night} he was begging to come home after just 6 hours in. That is absolutely NO way for anyone truly seeking help to get it.  I realized pretty quickly that because our Healthcare system is so broken, we would have to find an alternative for my husband to actually begin to heal. Enter Aily Nguyen and the Apex team.  Honestly, Aily is an earth angel and was the balm that my sad, helpless, confused soul needed to get me through one of the most difficult trials of my life.  Her team literally rescued him from the "hospital" where he was and brought him to the beautiful sanctuary that is Apex. There he would find a private home with a pool, a chef that came daily with fresh gourmet meals, yoga, meditation and multiple therapy sessions each day.  Here, in this safe haven, is where my husband could recover, work, heal and ultimately be reborn. 11/27 marks 4 months since our journey began.  I'm happy to report that my husband remains committed to his sobriety, after 5 weeks of inpatient care and 10 weeks of IOP (intensive outpatient program). He has forgiven himself, and has been gifted the knowledge, the tools and the self awareness to stay the course.  Apex was instrumental in getting him to this point, and our family is eternally grateful for the entire organization.  If you are looking for help with your addiction, Apex will rise above and beyond all expectations.  If you want to be treated like a whole human being that deserves special care and attention throughout your recovery, look no further. I can tell that social worker Mason does self-care well because he is observant and sets his boundaries firmly but with kindness. But "peer support" staff member Amy is loud and wants more responsibility than her title might entail. Tbh she better have some secret nursing degree, because she was advising on pain and dermo-related management for a patient without apparent nurse supervision. Most med nurses assigned to me were very understanding (shout-out to Ernst). However, I had to actively advocate for myself during a significant mental health crisis, which means I was masking for HOURS to unfamiliar clinicians, and my designated friend was not permitted to enter the facility. My first night at this facility was truly a nightmare. My recommendation, as both a patient here and as a fellow helping professional from another setting, is to implement empathetic de-escalation training for all staff. Then, put your name tags higher! If there are badge reel rules like you need them on your belt, just put a name & title sticker on your scrub top. This will really help patient experience.

I understand having a fee and a 24-hr general policy, but to inflict such a high rate onto clients even if a last minute illness or emergency arises is unreasonable and unethical. What do they want, people showing up sick to infect the therapist and every subsequent client that therapist sees? That is what is implied with such an inflexible policy and there is no other interpretation for it. Profit first, therapist well-being way lower on that scale, client well-being at the very bottom. I'm not sure where the actual service or "care" falls on that scale; I guess it doesn't seem to me to be present at all, not in the eyes of the business anyway.
