Terrible!!' Do not recommend at all! I was pushed into taking down my original review by owner. I was not in a good state at that time However I feel the right thing to do is write a honest review. They destroyed my hair! I came out the last try with them and had blue/ gray hair! I hope this helps someone who is searching for a new salon. The owner actually said- you can wear a wig! Her response to the other review I wrote was - It had been several years!!! What!!??? That's an absolute Lie!!! This place is so misleading as they ask you to leave a good review for them. Let me say that I have been going to Halcyon for nearly a year now. I cannot say how pleased that I am with every hair cut that I've gotten from there. Mrs. Laura does a fabulous job on my hair. So thankful to have Halcyon as my stylist!! Mr. Ed is also great one too! 1st time he cut my hair it was a great experience. I'm sure the others are as well, due to Mrs. Laura has vetted each one. It truly feels good to be able to walk in for my hair apt and KNOW that I'm getting exactly what I ask for. As a woman, we all know finding that perfect stylist is stressful and extremely hard to come across. I like it there so much that I have schedule my hair apt's out for a year, js. Such a great experience! I just happened to find myself in Shelby, NC for the day, so I booked an appointment to get a cut and highlights at Halcyon Salon on a whim. I made an appointment online, which was super easy and convenient. My stylist was the amazing Ed Jesse, and I cannot say enough good things about him! When I arrived, I was warmly greeted and offered water, coffee, or a mimosa. The salon itself is so nice inside; it felt glamorous while still having the cute Shelby charm. The staff was super professional and Ed made sure I was comfortable and well taken care of. Of course I'm always nervous to go to new people, but Ed gave me the cut and color of my dreams! He listened to exactly what I wanted, and he definitely executed. I was surprised by how quick he was, especially with highlights, and they turned out beautiful. I wanted a good bit of length off as well, and he gave me a haircut that I love! I will definitely be back when I'm in the area, and I highly recommend this salon for anyone looking for a great place to be pampered! read more

Really amazing color and cut by Carla. Was able to easily get an appointment for following day. She and her partners consulted with me beforehand to carefully select the perfect shade for my transformation. First time I've been since before the pandemic started. Everyone was friendly and being Covid-safe. So happy to have such a high quality salon and stylists here in Shelby! Couldn't be more pleased with the whole look. So I think an update is long overdue - my previous review was getting a bit crusty around the edges. The first thing you should note is that three years later, this is where I still come to get a hair cut. Not just one, but all of them. Inside, the fixtures and seating arrangements have been changed to really open the space - it's airy and modern with a warmth to it. If Halcyon were a person, you could say it has a good aura. There's Chill Wave Pandora in the background and last visit, there was a pint of Donald's Honey Heffeweissen homebrew in my right hand - we don't want him to get a big head, but it was pretty darn good. Casey has been cutting my hair the last few times and she does an excellent job. I look forward to being shampooed and having a scalp massage/ face massage with hot towel. It the little details like that, that as a guy, I really enjoy. If you don't enjoy Casey artfully digging her thumbs into your sore muscles after a long week, please check your pulse. Without sounding like a lecherous old man, it's nice to have someone pretty, talented and detail oriented working on your hair - and after all it's more than just a haircut, it's being pampered (but not in a weird diapers kind of way). The owner Laura is always looking to make improvements to her salon, whether it's caring for clients or making sure her staff are proficient in the latest styles and techniques. Brava!! Very welcoming atmosphere. Ed was excellent!! Great haircut!! Lydia was great with my daughter, very detailed.

The scheduling process was quick and easy. They utilize Vagaro and within 8 hours, Laura E. (the store owner) messaged me. She was attentive and answered all of my questions. Upon arriving at Halycon Salon, I was greeted by high ceilings, eye catching art work and bright smiles. I received a color (bright purple to dark brown) as well as a cut and style from Laura. I LOVE my hair! The entire experience was very relaxing. An very surprising bonus was when another stylist, Lashaun, offered complimentary hot towel massages, hand massages and a very relaxing scalp massage during my wash out! I can't say enough about this salon. 10/10 in my books!! read more
